Chapter 68: Blows and confessions ll

"Do we really have to live with him?"

"Yes."

"You promised." I groan.

David stops his pacing already on the second floor and turns to face me.

"I can't do something to keep my promise when the law isn't on my side. Neither of us are of legal age and our mother signed over custody to our father. So tell me what can we do to avoid all this craziness?" he asks frustrated. He doesn't want this, but evidently can't do anything to change it.

"We'll figure something out. We just have to..."

"Understand little one, there's not something we can do."

"I refuse that there isn't a way out. There always is and I will see to it that I find it." I assure climbing the stairs to get to my bedroom.

"Little girl," David says grabbing my arm in supplication.

"No, David. I don't plan on judging you for giving up, but don't ask me to do the same because it won't happen." I finish to continue my walk.
