Maxwell walked to the couch and sat down, letting out a deep breath as he leaned back with his eyes closed.

Jennifer had enough and scolded angrily, "Maxwell, is it fun toying me around? Do you know how long I waited for you at the hospital? Do you know how strong the wind was tonight?"

Maxwell's gaze darkened and he muttered faintly, "Something came up, and I forgot to tell you."

Jennifer didn't expect him to stand her up, making her wait for two hours in the chilly wind, only to brush it off so casually.

He didn't care at all, did he? All those tender moments and affection he showed before were fleeting emotions.

Jennifer turned to leave, not wanting to say another word to him. But as she turned around, Maxwell grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.
