Chapter 43

ZION

"Again," my father yelled for the umpteenth time as I dodged one of his many attacks.

I was exhausted from a long day of school. On top of that, we had been training since I came home and it was already dark out. Storm clouds were rolling in and I could already tell that tonight we would either have a blizzard or a major rainstorm.

I prepared myself for the next attack that would come from both my parents. My mother flung a dagger in my direction while my father sent a purple ball of light spiraling toward me. The dagger barely grazed me, slicing off a few strands of my hair as I bent backward to dodge it. I wasn't as lucky with my father's powerful attack though. By the time I regained my balance, the ball had collided with my chest. A burning, searing sensation could be felt and for a second I couldn't breathe.

My father definitely wasn't holding back, trying to push me to the edge
