Khloe Anderson has never paid too much mind to her dad's occupation. She's the least bit impressed by the constant presence of bodyguards in the past. What she's always needed, is privacy, privacy, and more privacy. That's why she moved out as quickly as she could; to make a life for herself, where she didn't have to live under her father's radar. Her life now, pertains to her bakery/catering shop, that she's sincerely proud of; her greatest accomplishment. However, one unfortunate incident might just change her life forever. Logan Novak, the current CEO of the Novak Industries, is a player at heart. He's hot, rich, famous, and most of all, he's aware of all his attributes. He was raised to be a leader, and that is clearly shown by his past and his present. His future- wife, and kids- he's not so sure about that particular aspect. Actually, he hasn't thought much about it. A different woman every single night? That surely sounds amazing to him. But, he has a secret. A secret that he's not ashamed off, and one that might just change his life forever.

Prologue
PrologueKhloe Anderson  As I locked up my shop for the evening, I breathed a sigh of relief. My eyelids were practically closing on their own, and my back was killing me from baking constantly since morning. It had been a tough day at work, with many customers calling to place orders for parties, meetings and weddings. I'd also had to prepare lists that my staff would need to use in the morning. My catering service attracted customers, but at a time like now, I was happy to be going home. I couldn't wait until I lay perfectly on my bed tonight, and snuggled into my warm comforter, forgetting all about the world for at least a few hours. That's something I'm looking forward to.Looking at m

Chapter One Logan NovakSigning the last couple documents before I can go home for the evening, I frown when my secretary Diana Ward barges into my office like she owns the place."Yes Diana?" I snap, not bothering to hide my annoyance towards the woman. Returning my gaze to the documents on my desk, I ignore the seductive glances I know are being directed towards me at the moment. The contracts on my desk must be finalized today so we can start operations on Monday. And I'd planned on spending the weekend with my parents. I hadn't seen them in a week, and for mom, that meant a month. So, I wasn't looking forward to staying at the office late t

Chapter Two  Logan Novak  F.D.A.P (Fort Daniel Army Personnel) Military BaseLocation: Classified As the HH-60 Air Force Helicopter lands on the bases' tarmac, I gaze around at my surroundings. The base is enclosed by miles of forest, seeming to have no contact with civilization. A number of soldiers run along the road that's been used for training, as others sit in groups, probably on a break. Grabbing my army duffle bag, I jump off the helicopter and unto the ground, and Chris follows suit.

Chapter ThreeKhloe AndersonThe rattling of a doorknob is what awakened me for the second time since I've been here- in this awful room. I panicked. Someone was unlocking the door to enter the room. Maybe it's just food. But that didn't stop my mind from thinking about all possibly reasons why someone could be entering the room. Are they going to kill me? Are they about to let me go? However, why would they kidnap me just to let me go in the end?Is this how I go out? When I thought about my death, I'd always dreamt about what my last meal would be like. Would I be gone without even a last meal? I hated thinking about this. When a man enters the room

Chapter Four  Logan Novak "General, are you seeing this?" I spoke into the microphone. I felt the presence of my squad members as they looked at the face of the man we'd just killed."Not clearly. Who is this?" His voice came through the device."Dave Sanchez," I answered. I heard his gasp via my ear piece. Surprise could barely explain what I or anyone else felt at the moment. In all the preparation to rescue the general's daughter, I'd never thought about meeting one of America's most wanted men on the rescue mission. Actually, we had no idea whom we would've encountered. It was like a blind-date, but with violence, and no actual d

Chapter FiveKhloe AndersonWaking the next morning, I'm greeted by an eerily quiet environment. I groan at the thought of it being Monday. The television is turned off and the apartment shows no other form of life. Sitting up on the couch, I yawn. Certainly unladylike but rather appreciated in such an early, chilly morning.I don't hear water indicating that Brad is preparing for work. Looking at the clock, I notice it's about the time I normally met him outside on my way to work in the morning. He's probably gone already, I thought.Standing, I walk over to the window, pulling the curtains to the side to look outside. It still shows signs of a cold weather, and I hug myself for much needed warmth.

His words kept replaying in my mind. He'd seen where I kept my spare key. He'd helped them. He gave them permission to enter my apartment. Everything was about him.It would explain my apartment's heater turned on the night I was kidnapped. They were beyond bold. He was beyond bold. Why am I even surprised? I shouldn't be. Chapter SevenKhloe AndersonI watched the Commander- I mean, Logan closely as he ate his dinner. I wasn't exactly comfortable calling him 'Logan'. I thought it was completely disrespectful. Clearly for a man of such rank and having saved my life, he deserved an award. Sure, I could call him whatever I wanted in the privacy of my mind. No one needed to know. But to say it out loud, I was still coming to terms with this new arrangement.I'd prepared steak, cheese-stuffed baked potatoes, and steamed vegetables. He seemed to be enjoying it by the moans I heard coming from his throat. I did, too. But for a completely different reason.Cooking again felt like being in a kitchen for the first t

Chapter EightLogan NovakI called my apartment landline for what could've been the tenth time, hoping that Khloe was only in a deep sleep, and would soon pick up the phone. However, that wasn't the case. Cursing softly, I grab my jacket from the back of my office chair, and rushing out the door, I almost bump into Chris who was on his way to my office."What's got you in a rush?" He questioned."Khloe's not picking up the phone," I explain, heading towards the private elevators with him following behind me. I still wasn't certain whether or not she was in danger. However, I still had this nagging feeling that something was off. It wasn't the first time I'd called her to check up on her. However, it wa

Chapter Nine  Logan NovakI sat in the hospitals' waiting room, staring at the wall- the world and everything else completely forgotten. I knew not the day, or the time, or how long I've been here- sitting, waiting for news; any news. I couldn't say anything. I didn't need to. It was hard to get myself to do anything but sit here, thinking- pondering. How could life be so cruel? Why did bad things happen to the good people, and vice versa? I'd asked myself that question so many times, it felt like a pledge- my anthem.I've aged more for the past week than I've done in years
