Beautiful Allison Harley was a victim of domestic violence that made her a loner in school. Hunter Vaughn was the hottest boy in school, the golden boy who thought he had it all until a tragedy took away his perfect life and temporarily blinded him. When they met, Allison was running away from her past, and Hunter thought he had no reason to undergo the treatments needed to recover his eyesight. He was blind, but he saw how beautiful she was. She gave him a reason to live… a reason to see again... a reason to fall in love. Hunter went through a transplant that enabled him to see again, but separated him from Allison for more than a year. When he got his eyesight back, he also got his perfect life back. Once again he's the most popular boy in school and she's the outcast he doesn't even remember. Will Hunter find his way back to Allison? Or will he choose to live his perfect life and pretend he never even knew her?

Wow, truly beautiful story. Started out fast and kept improving. Cried a lot in the beginning (had to pause until I calmed down). Also, laughed at times. The characters were very mature and I’m glad Hunter and Alice were able to overcome the trauma in their lives. Well written. Worth reading.

Prologue
Archangel Michael – the angel of protection and strength.   “Please stop!” I screamed. I felt the trickle of liquid along the side of my face. Once I got over the shock, I felt the unbearable pain as it ripped through my skin, forever damaging it. “You son of a bitch! Stop! Oh God, let her go!” I heard my mother scream. “Let her go! Please, I beg you! Stop it!” “No! She’s a spawn of the Devil! Can you not see it?” he asked in a hoarse voice. “Maybe you can’t! Her beautiful, angelic face conceals all the darkness within her! I will show you! Once her beauty is gone… you will see her for what she really is!” He pulled my hair so I could face him. I willed myself to be brave as I stared at the man who once meant the whole world to me. He was staring back at me with bloodshot eyes rimmed with dark circles. They were blazing with anger, like he truly believed I was a demon he needed to kill. He lifted the glass bottle over my

Suriel – angel of healing, whose name means “God’s command.”   “Come on, wake up, sleepyhead!” I heard my aunt’s voice as she snatched the headphones away from my head. I struggled to open my eyes. I looked at my wristwatch. It was one in the afternoon. I slept in again and I knew Meredith hated that. But sometimes, I couldn’t help it. It was hard for me to sleep at nights. In the dark, the nightmares got worse. I couldn’t sleep with the lights out now. But even with the lights on, I still found myself waking up in the middle of the night, screaming as the memories of the pain I had experienced during that night come back to me, making me retreat, and curl up in fear and misery. Meredith stared at the dark circles under my eyes and smiled apologetically. “I told you… some counseling can help you, sweetheart. Really. I can afford a few sessions.” I shook my head. Meredith is my mother’s younger sister. She just graduated from coll

Af – the angel of light.   The next day, Meredith dropped me off at CRC. She didn’t say anything, maybe for fear of jinxing my decision to go out of the house, but I know that she was over the moon that I wanted to come back to the center. “I have a meeting in the town center,” she called as I got out of the car. “I’ll pick you up in the afternoon. Keep your cellphone open.” I nodded and headed towards the grounds. Meredith waved at the guard standing on the gate, who immediately let me in. I walked to the side of the building, towards the path of trees that led to the woods. Last night, I thought about the words that Hunter said to me. I felt like with the limited words he said, in the short span of time that I spent with him… he really reached out to my soul. He spoke the words I couldn’t say to Meredith… the words I could not even admit to myself. I hated to acknowledge it, but Meredith was right. I needed to talk to s

Kakabel – the angel of stars and constellations   When I went to the center the next day, I found Hunter in the garden again. From afar, I thought he looked anxious. He was pacing back and forth in front of the bench and I couldn’t help smiling, thinking that I was doing that to him… I was making him nervous. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a dark blue knitted sweater. His hair was disheveled as always. And I couldn’t help thinking… if he wasn’t blind, would he ask me out at all? Girls in my school would kill for a guy like this. I walked as slowly and as quietly as I could. He stopped pacing when I was a few meters away from him. He turned towards my direction and said, “I was afraid you weren’t coming.” “I… took my time getting ready,” I said. I meant that. I was wearing a pair of skinny tight jeans, a yellow off-shoulder blouse, brown boots and a white beret on my head and I spent hours curling the ends of my long hair.

Miniel – the angel of love. I kept coming back to the center every day for more than a month. It seemed that since my meteor shower date with Hunter, I had a permanent smile on my face. I felt lighter inside. I also found it easier to sleep at night. My nightmares were somehow replaced with dreams of the magnificent boy I met at the most unlikely place.Every day, Hunter would wait for me at the front steps and we’d go to our garden together. He would always have his guitar case slung on his back. I would always play the song, ‘Angel’ for him. It was like we had our own world, and no one could touch us… hurt us or haunt us here in our garden.Hunter was devilishly handsome… and heavenly sweet. He would give me flowers almost every day. He would serenade me with his beautiful voice. He would kiss my scars every day before I went home and he would tell me that he would chase my nightmar

Marmaroth – the angel who can thwart fate. I would be joking if I said that the months of my life had been perfect. That everything was peachy, filled with smile and laughter, with an abundance of blessings and love. Sure, the nightmares didn’t come often since the day I met Hunter. But I lived each day in pain… a different kind of pain from what my mother and stepfather had left me.Another first. My first heartbreak.Surviving was a struggle for me. It was hell for Meredith too. She was the one who had to live with me while I tried to deal with a broken heart. And she had to be the one to take care of the bills with the small pay she received from the small-time jobs she got over the next year. The day Hunter left, I listened to his voice message over and over. Just memorizing the sound of his voice. As I lay down in bed at nights, I imagined him lying down beside me, saying those words to me.I wanted to

The girls laughed. Then they smiled at me innocently.“Oh, that’s better!” He went close to me and whispered in my ear. “Now, you’re more tempting than the burger. What do you say, we meet up after your shift? I could eat you all night.”Now, that was below the belt! I was so appalled that I slapped him on the face. The girls stopped laughing.“Alice!” my manager called me. “What are you doing?”“He… harassed me!” I replied, trying to defend myself.“No, miss! She said a nasty remark to us and was rude in serving our table.” Chelsea told my manager. What the hell? “I did not!” I said angrily. “I was nice to you and you poured ketchup all over me.” Then I pointed at Don. “And he harassed me!”But my manager was already staring at me with a raised brow, shaking her head.

Chapter Seven
Karael – the angel who has the power to fight demons. If before, Chaise was pestering me, pretending to be cute and teasing me around school, he was now staying away. I could still see him watching me during lunch or on the grounds when he was hanging out with some friends and I happened to pass by. I couldn’t make out the expression on his face. He looked genuinely hurt… or pissed.“Did you do something to Chaise?” Denise asked me one time during lunch. I was sitting with her at the far corner of the cafeteria. Chaise was in the center table with all the other popular boys and girls. When I looked at Chaise, he was staring at me. He was wearing a red jacket over his hooded sweater.I stared at Denise for a while and then I shrugged.“You know… ever since he came to school, he was always watching you. He looked really interested.”“Seriously?” I asked Denise

Chapter Eight
“Help!” I shouted once again. One of my attackers was pulled behind by a strong force, and the next thing I saw was his body falling to the ground. As he struggled to stand back up, the other guy released me and went for their attacker. I was free. That’s when I saw the guy who came to my aid. He had his back on me. His head was hidden under a gray hood. But I couldn’t have mistaken it. I know it was him. That boy who followed me. The one I called my stalker. He was driving a black Porsche this time. He fought off my attackers almost effortlessly. I turned to grab my bag and started to run. I heard a sharp scratching sound. I stopped to look behind me and saw that one of the guys was down on the ground now. But the other one had a knife with him and he purposefully scratched the hood of the car of my rescuer. “Fuck!” I heard somebody curse. It could be my rescuer when he saw what the guy did to his Porsche. Panic was still gripping my senses. I did th

Raguel - the angel who watches over other angels The minute I locked Alibri’s door that night, I saw Chaise standing in front of his pickup. He usually drove his Porsche to school, but I didn’t really have to ask what happened to that car. He must have sent it to the garage. I could only imagine the sharp dent my attacker left on it with his army knife. We didn’t speak on the way home, like I didn’t know what to say to him. When he stopped in front of my house, I thanked him and he smiled at me. He didn’t leave until he was sure I was safely inside. The next day, he sat with me and Denise in the cafeteria. Denise looked at him as if he grew an extra head.“Seriously, leave so we can talk about you,” Denise said blatantly.I glared at her.Chaise turned to me with a smug smile. “So… you talk about me?” he asked.“No!” I replied a little too
