A cunning social media app gets launched in the summer. All posts required photos, but all photos would be unedited. No caption-less posts, no comments, no friends, no group chats. There were only secret chats. The app's name – Gossip. It is almost an obligation for Erric Lin, an online-famous but shut-in socialite from Singapore, to enter Gossip. And Gossip seems lowkey enough for Mea Cristy Del Bien, a college all-around socialite with zero online presence. The two opposites attempt to have a quiet summer vacation with their squads, watching Mayon Volcano in Albay. But having to stay at the same hotel made it inevitable for them to meet, and eventually, inevitable to be gossiped about.

Prologue
“Gossip is finally in the Philippines!” announced the hologram of Miss Universe 2019 Pia Wurtzbach in the mezzanines of Mall of Asia Manila. The crowd clapped out of excitement as the virtual beauty queen disintegrated into blocks and formed a phone. On its screen was “Gossip.”  There was an uproar and lots of whistling. This event was announced a month ago, scheduled two weeks after today, but once the developers saw how excited the Philippines was, they drove it quick to this day. The earlier launch was even strongly supported by the Filipino woman in the developer’s group named Chella Molinar, who was standing now on the stage on the first floor. “Thank you, everyone, for your anticipation of our homecoming. Being the social media capital of the world, of course, the Philippines would not lie in wait anymore. We need to have the ultimate gossiping platform with its gossip-safe features. Tired of getting edited or photo-manipul

Chapter 1: Pseudo-studio
“Relationships are overrated,” Mea blurted out.She and her friends were talking about how college people staying in hotels often end up hooking up. The idea just grossed Mea out. She sat on the window seat beside Renee while rummaging through her bag. Pamela and Mary Ann sat in front of them. The bus passed under an arc of Welcome sign across the highway. It has been six hours since they boarded in the morning, and they’ll arrive at the hotel by night.“Well yeah, but we didn’t say you should enter a relationship,” explained Pamela in front of her. She smirked and looked eye to eye with the three ladies. Immediately, they knew what she was thinking. “It won’t be a relationship, and it won’t be just one,” Pamela added.Mea finally found her earphones, plugged them into her phone, and played music. “Spare me your plans, alright? You keep your boys, I keep my silence. Just two weeks, I beg you, guys

Chapter 2: Fashion Comes First
“I can’t believe we’ll be joining them!” Renee screamed. The marble wall and ceramic tiles made it louder. “That’s five freaking hot men a few rooms apart us! Oh my gosh, I’ll lose myself in the halls.” She said and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand. “That was just so embarrassing. Most embarrassing of everything that happened to me,” stated Mary Ann, still blushing and staring at nowhere. She’s probably imagining them looking at her face. And innocently, with absolutely no bragging tone, she added in a whisper, “Good thing I’m naturally pretty.” Mea pulled her eyes away from Mary Ann, almost disgusted by how starstruck the supposedly-shy girl was. She turned to Pamela when she screamed. “Oh my god, it’s true!” The two daydreaming women looked at Pamela’s screen. Mea was right behind her as they all sat on her bed inside their hotel room. She could see the stalking girl’s screen whether she wanted to or not. Pamela was on Erric Lin’s Gossip

Chapter 3: Sponsor Brooks
Renee Brooks looked outside the van window, avoiding two pairs of eyes currently murdering her imaginarily. She may or may not have sent an invitation to the Lin brothers to visit her parents today and forgot to tell her friends about it. Pamela had nothing against Renee since her fashion-comes-first motto worked. She thought she was glamourous enough with her blue one-shoulder dress with a lace sleeve. Renee only wore her tube top and shorts, but her Gucci sunglasses and shoulder bag made everything look fancy. On the other hand, Mea and Mary Ann looked like they were about to go for fresh groceries at a night market. They both wore an oversized shirt with shorts for Mary Ann and sweatpants for Mea. “Don’t feel so bad, you can tuck them in, and you’d look pretty!” Pamela exclaimed. The two pairs of glaring eyes switched to her rather than Renee. “Yeah, as if we’re gonna hang out with friends,” said Mea. “We’re gonna meet the rich paren

Chapter 4: Spilled
The star of the night sat on the poolside, softly paddling her feet on the water. Mea felt uneasy with the way Deuss stared at her. She could feel it even without glancing twice at him. But she’s thankful she hasn’t made a move, unlike Kent.“So. You really have this side.”Mea sighed. “Yes, one more question and I’ll stitch your lips shut.” Too bad she stopped at yes and continued the rest in her imagination. She’s holding on to Renee’s lectures. The next few days will be her polite days. “Don’t keep asking the same thing,” she said kindly instead.A smile formed on Kent’s face and sat closer to Mea. “I have another question.” Mea never heard him talk in that voice before—a whisper, more like a low growl, coming in stronger than he looks. Maybe he’s showing his true colors now. She listened but pretended not to be inquisitive.“What if you d

Chapter 5: Reflect
Kent guided Mea on the corridor with his hand still on her waist. Mea has had men touch her skin before and she pushed all those thoughts into the “just-friendly” impression—and it was easy to do so. But with Kent and his straightforward hints of romantic interest, she just can’t grab that nervous feeling in her palms and throw it like a baseball into homerun. It’s hard to keep it far from her.Mea slid her hotel card on the screen beside the door and it unlocked itself with a beep and a quick flash of green light on the side. “I can tend to myself, you can wait there,” she said as she stepped into the room on held the door firmly, itching to close it immediately.
