This book is a spin-off of Damaged: Lala has made her escape from the biker leader Spin, although currently pregnant at eighteen with Spin having demanded she have an abortion. Three years pass between the time she leaves Spin before he finds her again. During the three years: Lala has changed her identity to Amory Williams, changed her look, and is the successful owner of the Spark Nightclub in Brooklyn, NY. She is also tangled in a complicated relationship with Jonny Knight. Jonny met Lala under her identity as Amory, when he left the US Navy. He's hired by her to protect her, but their relationship has built into something so much more than a business professional one. When Spin re-enters Amory's life, Jonny fights to keep him out, but the decision will ultimately fall on her... Who will she choose: the bad boy she fled from who is seeking redemption, or the good guy who stuck by her as she rebuilt her life? Find out what happened between Jonny and Amory from the moment they met, and Jonny's point of view right up until the very end of Damaged. This book will also feature an alternate ending!

Chapter 1: Meeting My Other Half - Jonny
I'm finally returning back home to New York from the US Navy military base in Washington state. I know it’s a little premature since I’m technically on active duty for another four months, but after catching my now ex-girlfriend Tatiana in bed with my commanding officer while his wife is out on maternity leave, he really didn't have a choice but to approve my early leave! I don’t plan on re-enlisting and they don’t plan on dispatching me for another tour, so I'm heading back home. Nothing says it's over like a man putting the entire country between the two of you, right?! I turn my phone back on as soon as I exit the plane and as I’m coming through the terminal at LaGuardia Airport it’s already buzzing in my pocket. It’s a long-time friend of my father’s. I know the man used to do some crooked underground work for my father while he was a cop before he died, that is! I answered the phone, “hey Sy, what can I do for you”? “Jonny, my man”, he says. “Wondering if you’re

Chapter 1: Meeting My Other Half - Amory
Simon and I have just finished signing the documents for the purchase of a vacant warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Honestly, after Maxine and Kevin started fostering me, I never thought I’d find myself living back in the city… But here I am, thanks to Spin! We stop for an early dinner, but I’m still not feeling well, considering everything going on in my life, and have found myself clinging to Simon for support more than I intended. He takes it in stride, and even introduces me to the hostess as his daughter and future business partner. The woman looks taken aback but smiles nonetheless. Afterward, we drove in his Mercedes to some house in an area of Brooklyn called Sheepshead Bay. It’s already dark but the heat is still substantial as I step out of the car and feel it rise up my legs from the ground. I walk behind Simon and we enter through a six-foot wood fence that swings shut and locks behind us. “Jonny, good to see you again”, I heard Simon say to someone wh

Chapter 2: Swimming Lessons - Jonny
It’s early morning at the start of August and it’s already hot and humid outside. Bo, Max, and Rich all meet up at my mother’s house to drive over with me to this building we’ll be guarding as part of the new job we’re all taking. I use my phone to navigate there and we sit in the car’s AC while we wait for Sy and Amory to arrive. When his silver Mercedes pulls into the lot, I kill the engine and we all get out. Sy is in his familiar suit. I don’t understand how he doesn’t sweat to death. Amory looks stunning in a baby blue dress that’s similar to the white one she had on yesterday. Her hair is pulled up in a bun on top of her head. I notice she’s yet to wear makeup, yet she’s still beautiful. Her height is evident today since she doesn’t have heels on, instead, she’s wearing the cleanest pair of white sneakers I think I’ve ever seen! Simon unlocks the warehouse and we head up to the second floor. It’s just a bunch of empty rooms. We’re told the building is being gutted and where we

Chapter 2: Swimming Lessons - Amory
I wake up the next morning puking my guts up, just like every other day I wake up before ten, but I have a business matter to attend to today so I don’t really have a choice. I pick myself up from the bathroom floor, then shower and brush my teeth quickly. Today is supposed to be even hotter than yesterday, and I kind of regret having worn the white dress. The city's humidity is killing me! I pick the next lightest color, a baby blue dress much like the one I wore yesterday, but it has spaghetti straps, not a tank top. I wrap my hair up in a messy bun and head down to the lobby as soon as Simon texts that he is nearby. We drove over to the building and there was only one other car in the lot. It’s a dark blue four-door Honda Civic that I remember seeing in Jonny’s driveway last night. So it doesn’t surprise me that when the four men from last night got out of the car, Jonny was in the driver’s seat! Simon unlocks the warehouse and we head up to the second floor that w

Chapter 3: Guacamole - Jonny and Amory
~JONNY~ Someone is squeezing my thigh pretty close to my morning wood… “Jonny”, I hear an almost angelic voice whisper to me. As I open my eyes and focus, I lock gazes with Amory, who sits next to me on my bed, still in my tee. She has a look of surprise on her face at being awaken and having found me here. Shit, this isn’t good. My brain goes haywire! “Amory, lo siento. No fue mi intención. ¡Me quedé dormido!” (I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to, I fell asleep!) I tried explaining myself to her. “Umm, Jonny… I didn’t understand a thing you just said”, she says to me and starts to laugh. I’m so shocked by her lack of anger that I just stay silent. My bedroom door opens and in walks my mother and youngest brother Liam. “Jonny says he’s sorry and didn’t mean to fall asleep here with you, but I somehow doubt that’s true beautiful”, he says to Amory as a way of explaining my incoherent rambling in Spanish. At the same time, I feel like he’s hitting on her and I just wa

Chapter 4: Contracts - Jonny
I toss and turn all night in the bed clearly too small to fit me in it, with the tee that Amory wore the night before still draped over my face. I wake up with my mother in the room staring at me in disbelief, “Jonny”?“I’m fine mamá”, (mom) I told her. She just rolls her eyes at me.“Come, Mr. Richards will be here with Amory soon”, she says to me. It’s eight in the morning, I think my mother is more excited about her coming back than even I am. I just shook my head at her. It’s almost ten when Sy and Amory do show up, but she looks ill. My mother notices too, and immediately is catering to her with her ginger and honey tea. Amory kindly accepts it, and writes all of our concerns off as it just being her nerves! They’re accompanied by a black girl today named Charlene who is supposedly Amory’s project manager or personal assistant, or something like that! Surprisingly, Emilia sits down between Amory and me before they start discussing the validation of her contract

Chapter 4: Contracts - Amory
Thankful! That’s what the fuck I am this morning… So thankful I came home so I could throw up in my own toilet first thing in the morning! Pregnancy sucks! I took a cool shower but I clearly still looked ill as I dressed myself in my dark blue bra and matching boy shorts panties. The denim dress I’m wearing has buttons from top to bottom down the front, and even though we are handling business today, I’m wearing it because it looks professional to me when paired with the right heels! It’s just after nine when Simon texts me he is downstairs and has already picked up Charlene from her Queens apartment. She’s twenty-two, recently graduated from Queens College with a degree in business management, and lives in public housing in Jackson Heights with her mother. She was ecstatic to know the job came with great pay and an apartment in the future. It’s almost ten when Simon backs into the now familiar driveway. As soon as Jonny’s mother Nina sees me, she instinctively knows

Chapter 5: Karaoke Pool Party - Jonny
Amory sleeps through the night lying on me and wakes late in the morning. Then she gets up to go for a run! A fucking run… Is she serious? I got up and ran with her, and yeah… She’s dead serious! I’m just thankful I won’t be the one watching her in the morning. I hate running! After the run, we ate and lounged around the pool. This became the routine until Friday, when my brother Liam had a few of his friends over. The girls all get along with Amory while the guys drool over her until they see me hovering around her. At one point, I wrapped my arms around Amory from behind her and she leaned into me, amplifying the message for them to back off! It was that same Friday before I had the nerve to ask her about the ring… “That’s a pretty big stone on your neck”. Real subtle, Knight! She looks down at it like she didn’t even realize it was there, then grabs a hold of it and starts gliding it back and forth on the chain absentmindedly. “Guess it’s been there so long no

Chapter 5: Karaoke Pool Party - Amory
Thankful again that I’m left to sleep in, sparing me from the embarrassment of vomiting here and raising suspicion that it was more than just nervousness yesterday! Tryna stay on track with my regular workout routine that my OBGYN has approved, I get dressed for a run! Jonny is in disbelief that I willingly want to do such a thing but throws on basketball shorts, a tee, and sneakers then joins me. After the run, we ate breakfast and spent the rest of the day lounging by the pool. Nina, Jonny's mother, who insists I call her mama like everyone else, makes sure there is a fresh batch of guacamole for me daily. I lather it on almost everything I eat to the point that I think I gross everyone but Nina out… I’m pregnant, I want what I want! The next few days feel like my life is being played on a repeat loop. I wake late to find Jonny already up, we run, eat, then lounge by the pool. After dinner, we watched movies until I passed out. The only variation to this is on Thurs

Chapter 6: Twenty Questions - Jonny
I woke to the sound of someone puking and I realized the bed beside me was empty. “Amory?” I called out to her. “I’m fine”, I hear her call back from the bathroom before her stomach unloads again. I got up from the bed and walked to the bathroom door, where I found her wrapped around the toilet practically. Amory’s small body shakes as she dry heaves! “That doesn’t look fine to me”, I tell her as I pull her pink hair back from her face. She looks exhausted. I stood up and started the shower, then walked back over to Amory and helped her to her feet. “Shower, it’ll make you feel better”, I told her as I walked out of the bathroom. “Thank you”, she tells me as I pass by. She comes out of the bathroom wrapped in just a towel several minutes later and plops down onto the bed not realizing I’m still here in the room. “Feel better?” I ask, making her practically jump out of her own skin as she throws the blanket over herself! “Seriously Amory, that towel is probab
