DECIDED:

──────⊰·☆·⊱──────

Morgana was opening the door to her modest office, having finished her presentation in the boardroom. Everything went better than planned, although for a moment she thought she wouldn't make it. Since she hadn't been able to sleep the night before, Joe Carson's offensive words echoed in her head.

However, she turned his anxiety and uneasiness into something productive. As she was in the habit of doing. The soft knock on the door brought her out of her thoughts.

“It's finally Friday!” Lorena came in and sat down in the armchair in front of Morgana's desk.

“Yes, I was really looking forward to the weekend,” Morgana gestured with her mouth. “The truth is that I'm a little tired, you don't know how I long to get home and take a shower in the bathtub with a nice glass of wine”.

“Is that your plan for today?”, questioned the newcomer. “Since when did you become so boring? I thought you'd be joining me tonight”.

“Where to?”, Morgana did not remember anything.

“Today is Mr. Aydin's company event,” Lorena narrowed her eyes, “You promised you would come with me, Morgana,” she shook her head and in a mock-offended voice added, “I can't believe you forgot!

She waited in silence, for that very thing had happened. She forgot all about it, with so many things in her head, disturbing her. Likewise, she wasn't really looking forward to attending, but she had already promised to her. Maybe the event that night would help her clear her head a little.

Lately, she had been suffering from insomnia and severe neck pain caused by the stress she was under. Between work and her arguments with her ex, she sometimes felt like running away.

“All right,” she finally said,” Change that puppy cat face.

“Perfect…” Lorena clapped her hands as if she were an excited five-year-old girl, “Remember, this is an event that many businessmen will be attending. It is very important, I have taken care of every single detail”.

“So it's a formal event?!”, she asked, his eyes widening.

“You must be dazzling, we don't know what we can catch out there,” she giggled.

“You don't have the idea how amused I am by what you just said,” she rolled her eyes.

“¡Oh my God, Morgana! I know you don't like to attend these kinds of events, but every once in a while it builds self-esteem”.

“Okay, I don't gonna say anymore,” Morgana picked up her purse, “I'll go right now to see if I can find a dress for that darned event”.

She walked past her best friend and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

“I'll call you half an hour before I pick you up,” Lorena said.

“Nice”, Morgana practically run away before she could say anything else.

She was in the parking lot of the company, heading to her car, when she saw a scene that she did not expect, and that made her have mixed feelings such as helplessness and anger. However, she would use it to his advantage. She took out his cell phone and took a couple of pictures.

The lovers, who were just a few meters away from her, were so immersed in that kiss that they didn't notice what Morgana had done; much less that she had gotten into the car. For that reason, she tried to be as discreet as she could.

She started the car and looked in the rearview mirror curiously. Hastily way, everything went well. For some strange reason, her mood had changed, she blended into the city traffic and headed for the shopping center closest to where she lived.

An hour and a half later, she was window shopping in the boutiques, three bags in hand. She was thankful that minutes before shopping, Lorena called her, and she told her that the event would be held at one of the trendiest nightspots in town. Even she herself was surprised at how fast her purchase went because when she turned her head, she had the perfect dress in front of her. She wondered, if the occasion warranted, she exceeded her credit card limit.

“I don't have a choice but to spend the advance bonus I earned today with the project closing”. She thought and shrugged.

She gave a sigh, as she walked to the vehicle. Because she was surprised, that, even though her previous day had been completely shitty. Everything had been perfect since she opened her eyes in the morning. She felt a bit of doubt because something told her that everything was about to change. What she didn't know was whether it was for the better or for the worse.

Morgana shook her head, as she started the engine, and headed straight for home. It was a scant seven minutes away. She lived in a penthouse in a very nice part of town, courtesy of her mother's brother.  Her uncle had died three years ago in an accident at work, she was surprised when she was called by the insurance company and told that the man had left her fifteen percent of the total sum insured.

With that money, she had bought a house for his parents and his little brother, named Xavier after his nine-year-old uncle. She had taken out a loan to buy his current home. In fact, financially everything had been going very well for him, until his father became ill, and his reserves had been taken away by the surgery he had undergone. But it was either let him die or give him a pacemaker.

She thought that the things of love she would never understand since her parents had had a traumatic divorce when she was ten years old. The situation was so disastrous that the first few months of the process her uncle Xavier had to intervene and help her mother, taking them to live with him.

Then, after many years. Specifically, the day Morgana turned nineteen after her party, which coincided with her graduation from high school. She found that her parents had had a night of passion, drinks, and sex. The result of that slip-up was her brother.
