CHAPTER TWELVE

I slipped the string into the tiny hole in the door only to see that it was already unlocked. Carefully, I twisted the doorknob and stepped into the house carefully. The smell was getting stronger.

The smell of sandalwood. I recognised it but I didn't remember where exactly. But I was certain I knew someone that smelt like that.

I had no sharp objects to defend myself so I had to be careful.

I looked around the clean living room, following the part where the scent was stronger. That was the kitchen.

I moved forward but paused in my tracks when I heard a sound. Without looking, I ducked and heard a cling sound enter the wall behind me.

I gasped when I saw that it was a knife buried deep into the wall. That would've been my head if I hadn't duck just now.

My body turned in the direction the knife came from. The scent there was indeed faint. Or were there two people in the house?

I heard another ding sound and when I turned to look at it, it was a sharp needle heading towards me. I summe
