3. Sedate her

Olivia was taken aback by the turn of events. Darls Collymore had earned a reputation for being ruthless and cutthroat when it came to business. He was feared and respected by almost everyone.

Previously residing in England, Darls returned to Mexico City two years ago and revived Darls' Enterprise, a company that was on the verge of bankruptcy.

He swiftly acquired various small companies, expanding his business empire and posing a threat to Mike's own ventures.

The rivalry between Darls and Mike was well-known, but Olivia never expected Darls to display such a caring and genuine side.

Taking in the unexpected kindness of Darls, Olivia reached out for the cup of water, only to be halted by a sharp pain in her belly.

"Ouch!" she winced, the pain intensifying and interrupting her movements.

Concerned, Darls hurried to her side. "Be careful; you have to rest for a few days before getting discharged. Also, where's your husband? He should be with you at such a critical period," he asked, his gaze fixed upon Olivia.

Confusion flooded her mind as she tried to comprehend his words. Critical period? What did he mean by that?

Before she could voice her question, the door of the ward swung open, and a group of medical personnel entered.

"Hi, good evening, Mrs..." the doctor trailed off, his brows raised in uncertainty.

Realizing that he had no knowledge of her name, Olivia mustered a small, fake smile and replied, "Olivia Anderson…"

"Oh! Mrs. Olivia Anderson, how do you feel right now? Are your visions blurry? Do you feel any pain?" the doctor inquired, then turned to a nurse who had brought a pen and record book, prepared to take notes.

Olivia's vision had cleared since she first woke up, and she laid her gaze upon the doctor before her.

Confusion twisted in her gut, and she had to ask the question that had been weighing on her mind ever since Darls Collymore mentioned the critical period.

"My vision was blurry earlier when I woke up, but I'm seeing properly now. Also, my stomach hurts whenever I try to move. Doctor, how's my baby doing?" Olivia inquired, her voice filled with worry.

The doctor exchanged glances with the handsome CEO standing beside Olivia, his hands tucked into his pants pocket. With a regretful shake of his head, the doctor delivered the news that shattered Olivia's heart.

"I'm sorry to announce that the baby is no more. It was already a miracle that you survived the incident. If you had been brought here any second later, we would have lost you as well," The doctor revealed, his tone heavy with sorrow.

Olivia felt her heart stop as the crushing weight settled upon her chest. Her baby, gone. But how? How could her baby be no more?

The shock and disbelief echoed through her words as she shrieked, clutching the bed sheets tightly and cradling her stomach, despite the pain it caused.

"What are you talking about? My baby was fine just yesterday. He was okay. Why would you say he's no more? How dare you?" she cried out in anguish.

The nurse who had been quietly observing chimed in.

"Ma'am, you have been in a coma for the past four days,"

She softly explained. Olivia's mind spun as the reality sank in.

"I've been in a coma for the past four days?" Olivia questioned, her voice filled with astonishment and shock. The nurse simply nodded, affirming the truth.

A flood of questions overwhelmed Olivia's mind. Why hadn't Mike contacted her or searched for her during those four days? What about her parents and in-laws? Why hadn't they looked for her or the baby?

Her thoughts wandered back to the confrontation she had with Mike, her tears streaming down her face. He had taken her baby away. He had killed their child.

Sobbing uncontrollably, Olivia struggled to catch her breath. Her asthma flared up as she gasped for air, fighting against the pain she had endured. But the memories were relentless, refusing to retreat.

The ward grew chaotic as doctors and nurses hurried to gather the necessary supplies for Olivia's treatment.

But she felt a profound sense of despair. She no longer wanted to live. Death seemed like the only option. Her baby was gone, and she wanted to join him in the afterworld.

Amongst the commotion, Olivia could hear the doctors urging her to think positively, but there was no positivity left to cling to. What was there to hold on to?

Nothing. She despised Mike for taking her baby's life, and her parents and in-laws hadn't even bothered to reach out to her.

Whose life could be more wretched than hers? No one could understand the agony that consumed her.

The dreams she had of becoming a successful businesswoman, admired by younger generations and recognized in the business world, had all crumbled when she married Mike.

She had been forced to live in his shadow, enduring his disrespect, cruelty, and hateful words, all while hoping to find a way into his heart. But reality had dealt her a bitter blow.

He had taken her baby's life. Her life. And now, he wanted her gone. She wanted to die.

As Olivia contemplated her fate, she heard the doctor's voice, urging her to hold on.

But she refused to listen, determined to take control. However, before she could voice her protest, a sharp object pierced her arm. The world around her faded, and she succumbed to darkness once more

Olivia stood before the imposing golden gate, gazing at the grand estate that lay beyond.

Two bags, containing her belongings, sat at her side, and she clutched a folder tightly in her hands.

The placard on the gate proudly declared 'Darls' Mansion' in bold letters. She had been offered the opportunity to stay here until she regained her strength and was capable of living independently.

Conflicting emotions swirled inside Olivia as she contemplated her circumstances.

She struggled to find the right words to express her feelings. She couldn't decide whether to appreciate or chastise the individual responsible for her current situation.

Although she resented being alive, as she felt like an empty vessel, a faint sense of happiness lingered deep within her.

She was grateful that someone in this world recognized her potential and saw her dreams as valuable.

"Welcome, ma'am. Please come in. I'll take your bags," A man dressed in black offered politely, stepping forward to assist with her luggage.

Attempting to dismiss him with a smile, Olivia found herself a step too slow. The man swiftly approached her and took hold of her bags, beginning to walk away.

Her inner voice broke through the silence as she mumbled, "Wow, it's astonishing. An outsider trusts me with his gold-plated mansion, yet my own family fails to do so. How pitiful of you, Olivia."

Suddenly, her thoughts traveled back to a week ago when she first regained consciousness.
