Chapter 4

“You wouldn’t get away; you are definitely our meal” one of the members of the pack angrily said to me

You’re just a bundle of bad luck to everyone around you including your new father -James, why don’t we save everyone the stress by killing you, that way you can go join your so calledfather in the world beyond.” Another member of the pack mocked me

“I couldn’t say a word as I just lost the last person that mattered to me”.

I was shocked when Derrick grabbed my hand and ran into the woods, what is he trying to do.

Why would you kill the last person that cared for me and made me feel the love of a father” I cried while still running alongside Derrick.

“I’m so sorry, it was not intentional and, in my defense, it was when I tried to save you” Derrick argued

“Did I ask for your help? Answer me, I Was fine until you and Becky showed up” I bellowed with a coarse voice that has been strained from all the crying and screaming.

We slowed down as we neared a clearing,

“Can we just take a break here; I can’t go further” I complained to Derrick who by then had released his grip on my hand but still stayed close to me. I was already weak and was losing my strength.

“I’ll be right back, I need to clear my head”, Derrick said in a deep sorrowful voice and with that he walked away leaving Jasmine by herself.

I ignored him as I was busy with different thoughts running through my head.

Just as I leaned my head against the big tree behind me, I heard voices and before I could blink, I saw one of them and he shouted to the rest of the pack and pointed towards me “there she is, I found her” and the rest of them ran in the direction of his voice.

As soon as I heard their shouts and footsteps, I broke into a run and ran as fast as my legs could carry me as the pack came after me with several weapons like sticks, clubs and fire to burn me when they catch me.

As I ran through the woods away from the people chasing me, Icame by a small cave some meters from where Derrick had left me earlier and I hid there and quickly covered the entrance of the cave with some dried twigs and big branches I found nearby.

After a while, I couldn’t hear any movement of voices of the villagers after me, I guess they got tired and left.

I was relieved and I allowed my thoughts wander to the last moments I had with James before he was killed by Derrick.

He had just got me a chicken freshly killed, as a werewolf I loved my meat raw and not cooked. He was going to roast his as we sat by an open fire in front of his hut.

Later that night, I heard some footsteps and I panicked, I thought the villagers were back.

I peeped through a small hole of the branches I covered the cave entrance with and I saw Derrick looking for me where he had left me earlier.

I could see worried lines on his face, but I was not moved.

I heard him say “Where could she have gone to, I left her right here. Could it be that she was captured already by the pack? Moon Goddess, please keep her safe, or is she dead”?

Just then I decided to come out of my hiding place, “Jasmine where were you , I was worried. Are you okay” Derrick queried me.

“What do you care”, I responded with bitterness seeping through my words “you have caused me nothing but pain and anguish and I am going to get my revenge on you, I won’t stop until I see your kingdom destroyed” with that, I scurried off into the woods leaving a shocked and hurt Derrick.

“I need to find somewhere to rest and heal properly from my wounds so I can regain my strength and plan on how I’m going to bring ruin to Derrick and his kingdom.

For the next few days, I roamed aimlessly in the woods with no clear direction of where I was or where I was going.

I roamed around during the day and hid in the night away from wild and dangerous animals, I also had to avoid any form of contacts with other wolves.

It was on one of my roams that I was attacked by a wild lone wolf who had blue eyes and very deadly fangs, I couldn’t escape from its grasp as it was stronger than I was and my weak wolf didn’t help matters.

I managed to sink my claws into the left eye of this strange wolf, he cried out in pain and I seized the opportunity to run.

I hadn’t run for long when I felt the ground giving way beneath my feet, the trees around were swirling and my feet gave way under me.

My body was weak from exhaustion but my wolf instinct and my mind was fairly alert and soon the darkness claimed me into a world of voidness.
