4. REJECTION

LILIANA SPENCER

“Let's Divorce.” His words gave a whack on my heart with a thorny lash. There were no emotions in his eyes when he said those painful words to me.

My heart clenched painfully making it hard for me to breathe. The tears that were forming in my eyes fell helplessly.

“Is it…. because of Gi….Gianna?” My voice broke down even though I was holding my fist in a firm grip to stop myself from breaking down.

“It's nothing like that. It's good for both of us. We both are tied in a meaningless relationship. A relationship cannot survive with one-sided efforts. You have been trying your best to save our marriage life. When I could not move on from my past. You deserve better, Lily. I don't want you to suffer anymore.”

I kept silent. My heart was fragile and breakable, yet he still had the guts to tear my worth apart. How can he be sure, I will be happy away from him? I was happy thinking that he was beside me even though he didn't love me.

I opened my mouth to say something but closed the next moment when he pulled out some papers from his bag and extended the papers on the table towards me. When I saw his signature clearly written on the paper, my heart cracked in an instant. The thread of my last hope also broke with that. I felt like my heart was bleeding inside my chest.

“You’ll get three more villas. You can also keep your favorite car and I’ll give you fifty million dollars.” Zade gestured to the contract with his long index finger on which was a meaningful ring that had remained on that finger for four years. My eyes stung momentarily.

“I don't want anything. I only want you, Zade.” I said with no voice staring at him hopefully with my tearful eyes.

“I've made up my mind, Lily. Please. I'm tired of living a fake happy life. I can’t continue living my life like this. Back then I was forced to make you my Luna. But now as Dad is no more, there is no need to continue this fake marriage. I know we are fated mates. But I don't believe that we will be happy with our fated mate. We have tried but nothing worked. So It's better we part ways. I hope you find someone else who will love you the way you deserve.”

He had let go a long time ago, it is time for me to do the same. It's foolish to wait for where there is no hope. And It is foolish to walk on a path that has no destination.

“You have three days to think it over. But don't keep me waiting. My patience has its limits.” Saying that he stood up to leave.

“Wait.” It took everything in me to speak up.

“I'm ready.” Saying that I picked up the pen and signed my fake name ‘Liliana Spencer’ for the last time in the designated area. My hand was shaking as I was signing the Divorce paper.

“I don't want anything in the name of alimony.” placing the pen back on the table I pulled out our engagement ring and slammed it on the Divorce papers. Then I stood up to meet his eyes.

“Let's reject each other right now, right here. And break this last bond that is tying us together. Then you will be free from me.” Zade looked stunned. As if he didn't expect this from me. But soon he composed his facial expression into a cold one. I was staring into his eyes confidently even though I was dying from inside.

I saw him gritting his teeth and standing straight, staring into my eyes holding doubt in them. Zade took a deep breath before speaking. “I Zade Meadows……” My heart clenched with dread. So this was happening. I was hugging the last hope thinking that he would love me in the future but he was never mine, to begin with.

“Son of Late Alpha Ruvan Meadows and Alpha of Silver Lake Pack, I reject you, Liliana Spencer, as my Mate and Luna of the Pack.”

I felt like I had been struck by lightning inside my chest. The pain spread from my chest into the rest of my body. I could feel my wolf’s howl of pain inside my head. Officially severing the bond Zade dropped to the sofa and a whimper escaped from his mouth and he clenched his heart in pain. The bond had been broken from his side.

Now it was my turn. I took a deep breath to begin. “I, Liliana Spencer…..” I paused, clenching my fists firmly and gritting my teeth as I felt like I would break down any moment.

‘I can’t accept the rejection here. Then he would come to know about my secret. I can’t let him know about my true identity. I should go to our room. It will be a safe place to do that.’

I turned on my heel to go to my room when I heard Zade’s voice from behind.

“Are you going back to your words now? Do you regret your decision and don't want to accept my rejection?” I squeezed my eyes to control myself from breaking into tears.

“Don’t worry. Nothing like that is going to happen. Just wait for a while. I’ll be back in a minute. Just don't take back your rejection.” Saying that I ran to the stairs making my way to our room. I slammed the door closed.

“I, Liliana Spencer, Daughter of Alpha Christian Miller accept your Rejection Zade Meadows as my mate and as my Alpha.” I gasped in pain and my hand flew to grip my heart. I felt like someone just squeezed my heart. I could not fall weak as I wasn't done yet.

Before I could start, I heard the door knob twist. I turned around to find Zade entering the room in Hust. He was breathing heavily.

“Are you happy now?” I flashed my fake smile at him and took a deep breath. He didn't say anything, just kept looking at me strangely, that I could not put my finger on.

“I, Liliana Spencer, former Luna of Silver Lake Pack, reject Silver Lake Pack as my home and Pack.”

After saying that I felt someone grab my throat as I could not breathe at all. I saw black and white dots dancing before me, making my vision blur. Darkness was about to engulf me in its arms when I felt two arms wrapped around me. And I knew it was none other than Zade. So I spoke up before I passed out.

“One day, you’re gonna remember me and how much I loved you then you’re gonna hate yourself for letting me go.”

“Lily! Lily!” I heard Zade calling for me before I fell unconscious.

I woke up when a ray of sunlight kept peeking on my face through the small space of the curtains. Rubbing my eyes I looked around to find myself in our room. Yesterday’s scene replayed in my mind, making me remember that Zade is not mine anymore. A painful chuckle left my lips and I looked for my phone. It was lying on the side table so picking it up I texted a message and sent it to Alex.

Me: Alex, come and pick me up from Silver Lake Pack.

Alexander: Whoa! What a pleasant surprise, Princess! So finally you came back to your senses. Don't worry, I will be there in a while. Coincidentally, I'm in your pack for some work.

Me: Great. I'm waiting for you then.

I shuffled off the bed and walked to the closest to freshen up and change into a pair of fresh clothes. The only thing I'm going to take from here while leaving.

After freshening up I found my phone buzzing. So I rushed to pick it up. Alex’s ID was flashing on the screen.

“Princess, I'm here. Come down. I'm waiting for you.”

“I'm ready. I'll be there in a minute.” Saying that I cut the call and shoved it into my jeans pocket.

I took a deep breath before walking towards the door but stopped before pulling the door and turning back to glance at the big portrait of Zaid above our bed for the last time. Two tears rolled down from my eyes gazing at his handsome face.

“Goodbye, Zade. I'm sure you will regret letting me go. But it will be too late by then. Wish you happiness, Ex-King of my Heart”

I didn't waste a moment and headed straight to the main door making sure no one noticed me. When I successfully came out of the house I found Alex leaning dashingly against his car. A broad smile appeared on his face upon seeing me and he held out his arms for a warm hug. I broke into tears seeing him after four long years and I ran into his arms.

“Welcome back, Grace. Let's go back to our world.” I nodded while sniffing, then got into his car and drove off from there saying goodbye in my heart to the pack member who showered me with immense love.

Of course she's faking her identity, all these stories are always the same. Somehow the rejected wife always ends up being very rich or royalty and she always fakes her identity for no valid reason. I wish for once she was just a normal girl who ended up making it
