CHAPTER 13 - A Perfectionist is a clown too.

"What's up?" Cluelessly he asked when Selena grabbed his hands and rolled his sleeves above. "Didn't you do housework before? Roll up your sleeve, or else it will get wet."

"Agh... I'll keep it in mind. Thanks."

Even if he assured her, the style of washing dishes showed he never did it before. It instantly made her roll over inside. It was hilarious to see him. He was more likely a joker that never went to the circus.

Struggling in this work, somehow, he finished it. Yes, some plates were broken by him, but it was okay, I guess. He was a perfectionist, after all.

........................................

The food prepared by her smelled heavenly.

It was waking up the rat in his stomach.

She put plates over on the table, and without wasting a second, he grabbed the meat, and the hot food rolled in his mouth.

"Hafashasha!" Selena couldn't stop herself from laughing. It was funny, after all. She passed him a glass of water and commented. "Slowly! The food is not going anywhere."

Troubled after burning his mouth, Shawn groaned in pain. "It was too hot."

"Who asked you to eat directly? Keep patience till it gets cold."

He glared at her with a pissed look glued to his face. "You should say it early."

"It's all about commonsense."

......................................................

After coming out of the icy pool, he wrapped a bathrobe around his body and walked out when a tall man bowed down in front of him.

"Boss, we still can't trace her exact location. Last time our guards noticed her in this city. But we failed to follow her."

Upon hearing this, his anger started erupting like a volcano. His deep tone echoed in the poolside as he scolded them. "WHAT WERE YOU DOING THEN? I DON'T GIVE YOU A SALARY JUST TO HEAR SUCH NEWS. I need my wife's exact location before this week, or else be ready to get shot by me."

"But, Mr. Hendricks..."

The man was about to say something, but he sealed his lips when he noticed Chris coming to them.

He had a smile on his face, unknown of what planning was going on behind his back.

"Dad." He approached the man wearing a bathrobe and hugged him. "How are you, my son?"

"The business is going well, so far. Currently, I have a cooperation agreement with Vaughan groups."

"Hmm... Shawn is a good one."

He then looked around and saw those intense faces, which made him questioned. "What was going on here? A meeting?"

"Nah! Just some business talk. Anyway, what are your plans for tomorrow? Shall we visit your mom's cemetery?"

"It's been almost nine years since her death. I really miss her, dad."

"I'm here with you, son." He pulled him into a hug and caressed his back. But if Mr. Hendricks' wife was dead, then who was he searching for? Was there any dark secret hidden from Chris? Who was his wife?

James Hendricks was a famous business owner known to the world. Overnight, he had turned his poverty into riches.

He was successful in his career but failed in his personal life. Later on, in his struggling days, he chose money over his love.

Leaving his love behind still made him feel guilty. To save his company from the financial crisis, he married a young, beautiful daughter of billionaire Alex Martin.

Although their marriage was unsuccessful as there was a lack of love between them.

They got forced by Alex and finally gave birth to a brilliant child that was later on named Chris Hendricks.

Unhappy with her marriage life, Chris had to see his mom's slain face in an accident due to rain.

Her blood mixed with the rain surrounded Chris from all around. Till her last breath, she kept holding Chris' hand. Even before he could shout for help, her lifeless hand slipped away from his grip, and he saw his mom's death with his eyes.

It filled each second with his sobs that echoed in each ear. Losing his mom made him feel disgusted by the rain. For a few years, he lost all joy, and his dad was not there to support him. In fact, he was busy building his career, leaving his son almost dead.

But experiences made him a family person, and now Chris had a great, friendly personality that got cherished by everyone.

..................................................

The rain of the night was the pause that was sighing relief to the storm that rose in Camilla's heart.

It's been a week, but she hasn't met her Prince Charming yet. He came into her life as a chilly wind blew in the summer.

He disappeared, similar to those shiny stars faded in the sky.

A tiring sigh escaped her lips. "Where are you, my Prince Charming? I'm dying here to meet you again." Her lips were downturned with another beer opened by her.

She had four cans of beer already, yet her heart felt empty. Even the beer failed to comfort her.

Not too long, Selena entered inside and saw her drinking alone. She took a chair and sat beside her.

"What's with this dullness in the home, Camilla?"

She stared blankly at the window, watching the rain falling off. Her glazed eyes reflected her tired days.

"Is it anyhow because of that guy?"

The tiny pout on her face gave her a green flag. Camilla opened another can and handed it to her.

"Here..." As she handed her, she single-handedly refused to drink. "Not today. I still have to go to the office."

"One drink won't harm you, Selena. Drink with me. I'll feel happy."

"Okay then. Only for you." She took the can in her hand and lifted it for a clink. "Here! Cheers to us, singles."

"Cheers!" They clinked the cans and drank in one go.
