Chapter 61

The rest of the ride to the palace was silent and uneventful. I didn’t realize that it was almost damn already until I checked the time. It felt like days had passed since I left the Orange Moon but it was not even twenty-four hours yet.

Once we arrived, Bernardo carried the still-sleeping princess to a room on his side of the palace. I assumed he wanted her in a place where he could easily check on her. By that point, I was beyond tired and sleepy. I didn’t even wait for Bernardo to say anything to me. I just walked straight to his room and fell on the bed.

Even though I had a lot on my mind and so many unanswered questions, I was too tired for them to stop me from falling asleep. I didn’t know for how long I slept but then I felt arms wrapped around me and without opening my eyes, I knew who it was. I leaned into his touch and heard his intake of breath. I turned in his arms and opened my eyes. He smiled when our eyes met.

“What time is it?”

I asked him.
