Chapter 16 The Woman Arrives for a Confrontation

The man that she'd investigated was just a civil servant, so how had he been able to pay Theodore ten million dollars? He must have someone backing him up.

She couldn't help but be impressed by her son. Even while asleep, he was still able to bring her inspiration.

Today, Scarlett was dressed in white work attire. After actively searching for him, she eventually found the man who paid Theodore. The civil servant was no match for her silver tongue, and after a lengthy back and forth, he finally slipped up and unwittingly revealed details about the man behind the money.

The man provided Scarlett with a name and told her to go to Leonard Corporations and ask for a person named Johnny. Then she would be able to find the culprit behind everything.

"Hello, I’m looking for an employee here called Johnny." Scarlett showed up at Leonard Corporations using her identity as a lawyer.

The receptionist looked shocked upon hearing Scarlett use the name Johnny so casually because she knew exactly who went by that nickname at Leonard Corporations.

"And you are..." the receptionist asked, startled while pointing at Scarlett.

"I'm an attorney, Scarlett Langston."

"I’ve seen you before. You were at the fashion convention, and there were even reporters who took some ambiguous pictures of you and the president!" Another receptionist joined the conversation.

"I’m sorry, but I'm here for business today. Could you please contact Johnny for me? Or, you could tell me where he is, and I’ll go look for him myself."

"He’s on the 38th floor, in the largest office on the left." The receptionist gave her a look, clearly wishing her luck.

She knocked lightly on the president’s office door, and a man’s magnetic voice rang out from inside the office.

Scarlett walked into the office. Though the office was massive, there was only a man sitting behind a desk with his back toward her. She couldn't see his face, but she felt a sense of familiarity.

"Are you Johnny?" Scarlett stood solemnly in front of the desk while holding her documents to her chest with both of her hands. Her pristine work attire and her hair, which was tied up into a beautiful bun on the back of her head, transformed her from a petite and sexy woman to a mature and alluring woman who was capable of anything.

The president’s large black chair slowly turned. The man was domineering, and his distinct facial features were clearly seared in the back of her mind. His arms were crossed, and he had a provocative smile. It was almost as if he had known that she was coming.

"I expected you to be here sooner. You’re around half a day late." Jonathan pushed the clock that was on his desk toward Scarlett.

Johnny! And on the 38th floor of Leonard Corporations! Considering all these blatant hints, she should've known that Jonathan was the man she was looking for.

"This whole situation was your doing? What did Theodore do to offend you? Why are you doing this?" Scarlett slammed the documents in her hands onto the table. However, compared to Monica’s actions before, this was nothing. "Is this revenge for what happened at the fashion convention?" She planted both her hands on the table and leaned in to look at him with disdain.

At this distance, Jonathan was able to take a closer look at the woman before him.

She had porcelain skin that seemed delicate enough to break under the flick of a finger and soft, pale pink lips that were alluring and sexy. It made him want to rush toward her and bite her lips. Her face had a light layer of foundation, and there was also a faint fragrance lingering on her body, which made him dizzy.

Especially from her position right now, her breasts were tightly contained in her black tank top, which exposed a considerable amount of cleavage.

Scarlett realized that the man in front of her had been staring at her chest and wasn't even paying attention to what she was saying, so she quickly straightened up, turned around, and fixed her clothes.

"I’m not taking revenge for what happened at the convention but for what happened six years ago," Jonathan said with a cool voice, deliberately placing emphasis on the phrase "six years ago".
