Chapter 17 Getting Toyed With Again and Again

Scarlett violently turned towards him, losing her composure. Her bravado from just now had all dissipated, and she wore an embarrassed expression.

"What are you talking about?" Her gaze shifted guiltily, as if she were hiding something. To prevent herself from losing control of her emotions, she quickly picked up the documents from the table. "These documents contain all the information on Theodore Langston’s case, and it includes a ten million dollar check from you. I also have a witness, and he's already signed the witness papers." She had to settle Jonathan’s involvement in this case today.

As Scarlett was explaining, Jonathan slowly got up and started closing the distance between them.

"Now you've become the main instigator of defamation in this case. If you stop now, I'll be able to plead for leniency in court."

Jonathan was already directly in front of her, and Scarlett had no choice but to raise her head to look at the despicable man. "Based on my years of experience, I may be able to get you off on all charges." She was forced toward the edge of the desk, and her body was unable to move normally.

"The great attorney, Scarlett Langston! Well known internationally and hasn't lost a single case to date." Jonathan’s warm breath brushed her face. It was smooth and rich, like coffee with milk. "It's shocking how a woman who committed the crime of kidnapping still has the audacity to stand in the high court and seek justice for others."

She stared into the man’s eyes, which held a complex emotion. It was exactly the same as her son’s when he was being manipulative. Sometimes, she couldn't even look her own son in the eyes, but at this moment, she couldn't look away from this man's eyes.

She accidentally knocked over a pencil holder on the desk and bent down to pick it up.

She was indeed a prestigious attorney. Her pristine work attire suited her much better than the priceless Dusk Skyline.

"I have no idea what you’re talking about." Her gaze was guilty, and the deception in her voice was clear. Her heart was beating so loudly in her chest that he could almost hear it.

Her faint, sweet fragrance dredged up old feelings that were becoming clearer in his memories.

"The only way for you to understand what I’m saying is to take a trip down memory lane!" His voice was as cold as ice, and his words speared through her heart.

"Jonathan Leonard, what are you talking about?"

Jonathan grabbed Scarlett’s hand and dragged her domineeringly out of the office.

"I’ll sue you for harassment! What you’re doing now is kidnapping! Blatant kidnapping! Do you have no shame? Grabbing a woman! Jonathan Leonard! Let go of me! I am the prestigious Scarlett Langston, and I will sue you for kidnapping an attorney. You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law—"

Jonathan clamped a hand over Scarlett’s mouth and dragged her forcefully from the office into his car. On the way out of the office, Scarlett used her eyes to convey to the employees at Leonard Corporations: "Are you seeing this? You must bear witness for me in the future. This man is kidnapping me."

The Demon’s Lair.

After six years, Scarlett was forcefully dragged into this familiar place that had haunted her wet dreams.

The bar looked the same as it had six years ago, and even the decorations and layout were completely unchanged. The only things that were different were that it looked newer and seemed to be of a higher status than before.

"Sir." They had just stepped into the bar, but a specialized attendant was already greeting Jonathan.

Their actions made Scarlett feel like the Jonathan from six years ago was a nobody, but now they were treating him like royalty.

"Room 131," Jonathan coldly commanded them for a room.
