Chapter 43 - Celebration
Athena’s POV
Everyone gathered, stripping their clothes, to prepare for the shift. A run, to symbolize the union of a pack, was performed after any mating or leader ceremony. The excitement of everyone around us filled the air—the buzz of their energy prickling my skin. Phoenix excitement mixed with mine, the adrenaline from the bond is completed, coursing through our veins. Erik and I shifted first, the rest following. Phoenix and Creed circled each other, the other wolves bowed, waiting for our command. Creed let out a loud howl, Phoenix doing the same. The wolves followed our lead as we started toward the forest. Running through the trees, feeling the damp earth beneath our feet and the wind rushing through our fur. We ran until the moon sat high in the sky, shining brightly down on us. Ever
Thank you for reading Alpha Erik! Hope you enjoy this chapter!
Chapter 44 - The Crowning We waited outside the forest line for Drake and Rachel. As the Betas in this pack, they would become our advisors during our ruling. Once we were crowned, our pack would become the next Royal Guards, absorbing our power, linking them to our lifeline. They would not become immortal beings, but they would live a longer lifespan than most after last night's exhaustion consumed me instantly. The nerves were coming back, full force, this morning. The only thing keeping me grounded was Erik. The warmth of his hand in mine, the smell of chocolate and campfire filling my nose, and the sound of his voice calmed my racing heart. As the sun slowly kissed the earth hello, I couldn't help but feel the same way I felt before I killed Dela. I could feel Erik's eyes on me, feel his concern through the bond. "We're replacing the bad with the good. These portals will bring happiness and peace from now on," Erik said lowly, his vo
Chapter 45 - Favourite Flower. The partying continued until the early morning. The three moons began to kiss the earth goodnight as the sun rose to kiss it good morning. As we walked back to our room, stinking of sweat, dirt, and fire, I couldn’t help but stop and stare at the sun as it rose into the sky—the clouds, as fluffy as marshmallows, and the sky a unique shade of turquoise. I let out a deep breath. For the first time in months, I felt like I could breathe again. I felt like the world wasn’t trying to drag me to the ground. Though we had new duties in unchartered territory, new challenges and a long life ahead of us, I know we can conquer it all together. For just a moment, life finally felt simple, peaceful even, and I wanted to remember this moment for the rest of my life. I felt Erik's soft lips press my temple again, his voice
Epilogue *4 months later* “I can’t do this,” I screamed, my voice hoarse as I strained to push again. Another contraction hit me. I held my breath, letting it pass. The pain was worse than anything I had felt, and I had been stabbed in the back. “You got this Athena, give us one more big push and then it’s over.” Willow's voice was calm and somewhat soothing. I squeezed Erik’s hand harder as I felt the next contraction hit.“You’re doing amazing, sweetheart, just one more, and it’s over,” Erik whispered, his voice soft. He didn’t even wince when I squeezed his hand. I was sure I had broken it. I took a deep breath and pushed with all my might. I yelled and grunted as I did it. The sound of crying filled the air, and a glow of light wrapped around the baby. “It’s a girl.” Willow smiled as she picked up the baby and rested her on my chest. She latched onto my breast instantly. I couldn’t help the cry of happiness that left me. “She’s so perfect. Look at what we made.” I cried, looki
Life isn’t fair, and I never expected it to be. I never wished for this life. Then again, who would? No one wants to be an orphan, seen as baggage always weighing down the pack. Once I turned eighteen, I was leaving to travel, find myself, and see what the world had to offer. When the war started, my father had to leave to help fight with the others—protecting our pack, the midnight pack, from the neighbouring pack, the bloodstone pack—leaving me alone to take care of myself and our land. My father never returned. The last thing I remember about him was the smile on his face and the pride that sparkled in his silver eyes, worn with age. His hair was almost white, making his tan skin stand out even more. He hugged me and then left for what would be the last time. My mother passed when I was young. She was killed while out on
Chapter 1 - New order *Three months later* There was a loud bang on my door. "Athena, get your ass up. We're going to be late." A voice shouted from outside my room. I slowly sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. As the seasons changed from summer into fall, the morning sun grew tired and made waking hard. "I'm coming; calm down," I mumbled as I got out of bed, chucking on my training outfit.I swung open my door, looking at my friend. Her raven-coloured hair, done up in a braid. She looked up at me with her crimson eyes, annoyance written all over her face. I let out a sigh as I stepped out of my room, shutting the door behind me. "If you don'
Chapter 2 - Defiance I couldn't tell how long I had been running, but the pack had to know I was gone by now. I finally took a moment to stop and breathe. The sun was slowly setting, and the forest was growing dark. Then, for the first time since leaving, the feeling of regret started to creep in. "We need to find a place to sleep." Phoenix said softly "somewhere high to protect us from rogues and any other animals or creatures out here." Her voice was full of concern. I nodded in agreement as I used what daylight we had left to find a suitable tree to climb. I was so busy trying to find a tree I hadn't noticed the wolf staring at me a few trees back. I could feel my hair stand up on end as I felt eyes burning into my back. A loud growl pierced my ears as I
Chapter 3 - Regret Athenas P.O.V "How are we not dead" Phoenix mumbled. Her words sounded muffled and exhausted. "Where ever we are, it smells weird." "Maybe we are dead," I laughed, wincing at the sharp pain it caused. "Nope, definitely not dead." I could hear a faint beeping, but it sounded so far away, becoming louder as I slowly woke up. The smells all hit me at once—a mix of bleach and other cleaning products. I slowly opened my eyes, wincing at the light shining through the curtains. The room was bright white with a large bay window. There was a sink with a small cupboard above it. I slowly turned my gaze to my right to see a small bathroom. I looked down to s
Chapter 4 - Resistance Eriks P.O.V Adding new members to a pack is always stressful. As I sat in my office, I couldn't help but think of Athena. Everything always leads back to her crossing my mind. I told the hospital to keep me updated on any changes. I wanted her to stay in the packhouse, but she was in rough shape and would do better there until she was healed enough to be here. I didn't understand why my pull to her was so instantaneous. There was a knock at the door that snapped me from my thoughts "Come in," My voice sharp, revealing a hint of annoyance My Beta entered my office with a smile on his face. "The new pack members have settle
