CHAPTER 59: JACKSON'S FUNERAL

The rain kept beating the wooden cover of the casket. Jason loosened his hair and let it fall all over his face, standing akimbo. Cara, Mason and the rest stood under an umbrella. She tried to cajole her husband to come under but he wouldn't bulge. His hard stare wouldn't leave his father's coffin.

A call at work the week before announced to him that his father had passed away in his office. Traces of sleeping pills could be found in his bloodstream.

Whoever murdered his father was still walking free.

The screeching of a taxi car got their attention, Cynthia dropped from the car, dressed in a black fitted gown and a large hat. Her heels matched her outfit and he wondered if she was truly coming to a funeral or if she would hit the bar after this location.

She opened her umbrella and joined the rest where the priest was giving a sermon.

He kept watching her steps, trying to see if he would find anything incriminating. Dismissing it, he believed that he was just overthinking things.
