Chapter 2: The Unexpected Bidder

Mia's POV

The bidding bar was a cacophony of voices, each one louder than the last. Men, young and old, raised their bids, their eyes ravenous. The numbers climbed higher and higher, each one a testament to the desperation of my situation.

In the sea of faces, one stood out - an elderly man with a predatory smile. Every time his hand raised, my heart sank a little deeper. I couldn't bear the thought of leaving with him. I closed my eyes, whispering a silent prayer to anyone who was listening.

Then, a voice cut through the chaos, clear and unmistakably female. "Two million dollars."

The room fell silent. All eyes turned to the source of the voice, a young woman sitting at a table near the back. Her expression was unreadable, but her eyes were fixed on me.

The auctioneer hesitated for a moment, then spoke up. "Two million dollars, going once... going twice..."

I held my breath, hardly daring to believe what was happening. The old man had dropped out of the bidding, but this woman was offering three times as much as anyone else. Who was she? And why was she willing to spend so much money on me?

"Sold!" The auctioneer's gavel came down with a finality that made my heart skip a beat. It was over. I was sold.

The woman rose from her seat and made her way towards the stage, her eyes never leaving mine. As she approached, I could see that she was young, maybe a few years older than me. She was dressed in designer clothes, her hair perfectly styled, and she carried herself with the confidence of someone used to getting what she wanted.

"Congratulations," she said, her voice low and smooth. "You're mine now."

I didn't know what to say. I was still in shock, still trying to process what had just happened. All I could do was nod dumbly.

The woman smiled, a hint of amusement in her eyes. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you. In fact, I have a proposition for you."
