People, young and old alike, were flocking into the world's biggest stadium built to contain precisely a million people. The event of the day was not more than a single wrestling match. It was a match every wrestling fan had been anticipating since the beginning of these wrestlers' careers. As people continued to flock in, the two most popular commentators, Brown, with his croaky voice that still managed to catch people's attention and Jay-B, a former wrestler doomed to never fight again after an unfortunate motor accident, were already at work, literally shouting in a bid to hype the match.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the fight we've all been waiting for! A long-term rivalry has finally found its way into ring."
"Yes, Brown! The time has come to know who is the king of wrestling entertainment! These two men have been at each others' neck for a long time! Probably since the beginning of their careers....maybe even before then."
"You know, it's crazy! Both men seem to have been born to be rivals. I mean where should we start from? They were born the same day in the same year, got married the same time and are both expecting their first kids this year!!"
"And let's not forget their professional career records. Both men are undefeated extremists. Having the same unbroken record of over 300 victories in only three years. This match was made official six months ago and both men have been in isolation, training intensely in preparation for the battle which will determine who is the boss! Will it be the god of secrecy, Wolfe? Or the giant model, Boxer."
The stadium was soon filled up. Cameras flashed, reporters were interviewing and assessing ready information live on the scene while everyone awaited the arrival of the wrestlers.
'Boxer' was the first to arrive and enter the arena. The whole stadium went wild immediately he was spotted. He was a huge, muscular man of a little above six feet in height, with long and straight hair reaching just below his shoulders. A true giant model. And on the opposite side emerged 'Wolfe'. A slim, handsome young man with crystal blue eyes, long white hair and an ever smiling face. He was the only pro-wrestler in history who people knew little to nothing about. No valid information about his family background and his wife. They did not even know his real name nor his history before becoming a wrestler. Every information about him is that which he divulged about his wife being close to delivery and his age. That was about everything the masses knew about him. They might have known more if he was interviewed but he did not do interviews and nobody ever saw him enter the stadium nor did they see him leave after a match. He just always kinda disappeared.
"To think that after so long, not even the slightest information about Wolfe has leaked into the public. Still the same news about his wife conceiving soon, who by the way, nobody has ever seen before." Brown said in his croaky voice.
"It is very interesting how a wrestling prodigy like Wolfe can keep his identity hidden for so long. Still no news about him and his family. No one even knows how he gets in and out of the stadium without being seen. He is the true definition of secrecy.""
Well, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, young and old, settle down now because the time is nigh. The most anticipated match of the century is now about to begin." Brown spoke up. Immediately followed by extreme pin-drop silence. Everywhere in the stadium was suddenly mum. Not a single sound was heard. A few moments later, this silence was broken by one voice in the arena introducing both fighters, followed by extreme ear-shattering noise by the fans and supporters of both sides. After the introductions, the ten-second countdown started.
10...9....8
...…. ...…..
....3...2....1.
Every single person watching live, at the bar, at home, everywhere, shouted and counted down in excitement. The buzzer sounded. Both men immediately rushed at each other from the opposite sides of the arena, the size of a football field.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The distance between Wolfe and Boxer was closed very quickly. They threw a punch at each other to sort of test the surface. Both fists collided and the result was devastating. The entire stadium shook from the impact. Dust rose in the arena. Everywhere went quiet. Then it was followed by the shouts from Boxer's fans. Wolfe was thrown off by the collision. There was just no way his fist could stand against Boxer's. He flew and landed back where he began. He could feel his fist throbbing from the pain and inspected it."It's not broken! That's good!" He muttered to himself and looked up to see Boxer rushing at him. Closing the distance up very quickly. He quickly stood up and moved to his left. Not too far but far enough to make Boxer lower his movement speed to turn."Nope! Still too fast!" He turned to move to his right making Boxer alter his speed to get back on track."Right! That should do!" Wolfe had barely muttered that statement before he saw B
Laser guns were fired from seemingly everywhere. There were suddenly spaceships in the air and weird-looking humanoid creatures clad in silver armor-like clothing that was definitely not from earth. Aliens had invaded Earth, and what better time to do it than when the whole world was more or less in a relaxed excited mood.Wolfe looked around at the spaceships, the soldiers firing lasers from scaly guns displaying their advanced technological level. People were screaming in fear, running for their dear lives towards the various exits, some hiding under their seats in an attempt to avoid the laser shots. The entire stadium was shaken to the core and was beginning to fall apart. Wolfe was frustrated by the sudden change of events. It was supposed to be his complete victory; Boxer was about to admit defeat. Then, he was infuriated. How dare these ugly creatures from god-knows-where suddenly show up and steal the limelight. And what’s more? They were not just killing pe
“I am going to the wrestling academy and I am gonna become a pro-wrestler and there’s nothing you can say or do to stop me!” Wilson shouted at his mom.“If you go to that school against my wish, I will disown as my son and you must never step foot in this place ever again!” His mother screamed at him.“Why don’t you want me to fight?” Wilson asked once again. He must have asked her a thousand times since he clocked sixteen a week ago. But, like all the other times, she did not say a word and just looked at him with a blank expression.“Fine! Goodbye!” Wilson said wearing a calm look even though he was already crying inside. A part of him wanted him to immediately leave and chase after his dream but another part wanted him to listen and stay. So, he waited for a few seconds hoping against hope that his mom will say something to give him a tangible reason to give his dream up and find another
Wilson and Dale quietly rode on. Wilson in the two-wheeled carriage and Dale sitting in the front holding on to the ropes used to keep the horse-like beast in place. They travelled on day after day using the man-made roads used to connect the villages to the city, without them seeing any other person, covering a bit of distance each day before stopping to rest at night. They barely spoke with each other. There was nothing to speak about anyway. A full week had passed before they finally arrived at the next village. The first thing Wilson noted was that the village was larger than the one he grew up in. It could almost qualify to be called a city.‘Maybe in a few more years’ Wilson thought to himself.“We will stop here tonight!” Dale said as he slowed the beast down to a stop in front of an inn. They entered the inn and saw a lot of people in a bar. Some men were drinking quietly, some people were singing and many others seemed to want t
Dale and Wilson once again continued their journey. They came across many more villages and small towns. These towns had flying vehicles, large towers and buildings, were very populated and the hierarchy was apparent over there. Wilson marveled at the sight of these vehicles and buildings. Dale sniggered.“Wait till you get to the city of your dreams! This is nothing compared to that.” He said as he heard Wilson praising the beauty of these towns.A month after they started their journey, they entered a city that made the previous towns they had seen look like toddler towns. It was filled with the characteristic hustle and bustle of a city life, even at night. There were guards everywhere. Cars, carriages, Buses, Communication devices, various types of foods, inns, hotels, bars, people shouting and displaying their wares, some loud music was being played at a corner where some people were gathered watching a man and his three-tailed albino monkey dance. A
It has been two weeks since Wilson got to Forest City. He had not seen Dale throughout those two weeks. Dale got and paid for a room for Wilson in a moderately inn and told him to keep training in preparation for the tournament. Wilson was given enough money to last a month. He bought new clothing to blend in as a commoner in the city.“I will be back in a few weeks before the tournament begins!” He remembered Dale telling him the last time he saw him. He made no friends and did not socialize. He was here with a goal in mind, not for trivial matters like; ‘Hi, nice to meet you….’ and stuff related to all that unnecessary nonsense. Wouldn’t it be better if he spent all that time exercising in order to stay in shape and improving on the few moves he knew? Basically throwing punches, kicks, grapples and tosses and body slams. He had seen a school for martial arts with students his age flooding into the space everyday. He really wanted to
“If you don’t mind my speaking up, I think he might still be alive!” Dale looked up with such speed that his neck nearly snapped. He scrutinized the man who spoke those words. He was standing in front and looking down at them. He was nearly six feet tall, bald and white-bearded. He had a dignified expression and was dressed in white noble clothing. His white robe and beard fluttered in the wind slightly as he looked at the crying Dale and supposedly dead Wilson. When Dale said nothing and looked on in a daze, the old man continued speaking.“I believe he’s still breathing. So, if you let me help right now, he can still be saved. Come on, follow me.”Dale said nothing as his face turned serious and lifted Wilson up in his hands and followed the man. They stopped in front of the closest restaurant to their right before entering.“We are going to use a table, if you don’t mind!” The old man said to the inn owner that stood behind the counter.“No problem!”
Dale and Maxi looked at each other for a long time after Wilson had left. Dale looked at Maxi with an expression that he only showed when he had no idea how to react.“Dale, I know you meant it in a good way, but your words came out COLD. Like midnight, on-the-mountaintop cold. You really hit him hard there with your choice of words. I mean, outrightly telling him to give up his dream? That was too much!” Maxi said while looking at Dale. Dale tried to sound persuasive but his words seemed to have had an adverse effect on the boy’s morale.“What do we do?” Dale was confused. He did not know what to do and could only ask his friend for advice.“Give him some space to gather his thoughts. He’ll come around…..I hope!” Maxi said with a dismissive shrug and went towards the door.“I will be leaving now! Try to have a good sleep! Wilson will definitely come back! He has nowhere else to sleep!” Maxi said as he waved his goodbyes and left the room for his
