Jane Duncan's POV
IT'S HIM!
My hands begin to shake and I placed them in my jean pocket. He was wearing sunglasses but I knew it was him, the guy who almost messed up my one shot at being employed. And what was so shocking about this was that he was my new boss.WOW, WHAT A MESSED UP WORLD THIS IS!I insulted my future boss last Friday. I am so dead.*FLASHBACK*(Friday 12th May 20XX, 9:08 AM)I was late and so dead if I missed the interview. I looked out the window of the bus and was shocked by the number of cars in front of us. Today was the first time I'd encountered traffic like this, especially on a Friday. Why would there be traffic like this on a Friday? I couldn't take it anymore so I got up from my seat and went in front of the bus. People were already getting out of their cars to see what was causing the traffic.Once I was out of the bus I could see people gathered in front of a building far ahead. It looked like the commotion there was causing the traffic on the side of the road.I ran to where the people were gathered and was surprised by what I saw. In front of the building, which was actually an apartment complex, was a black sedan which had been crashed into by a taxi. The owner of the black sedan, a tall man in a dark blue suit wearing a pair of sunglasses, was demanding that the taxi driver pay him for the damage he had caused to his car which I thought was unfair siince it was a small scratch."Pay me for the damage or I'm calling the police," the owner of the black sedan yelled beore taking out his phone from his pocket. The taxi driver tried to stop him from making the call. All the people around were begging the man not to call the cops."I just did maintenance on this car recently! Do you know how much money this damage will cost? " the man was shouted at the taxi driver who looked so inferior and defeated. I couldn't stand there and watch as the owner of the black sedan treated the taxi driver like he was rubbish so I went and stood in front of him.I didn't know why but whenever I saw poor people being treated like they were nothing got me so pissed off that I was unable to stop myself from speaking my mind or doing something that I would later regret. That's why I, Jane Duncan, slapped the owner of the black sedan and watched as the man looked at me with disbelief and then finally anger in his eyes.I spoke before he could utter a word, "Don't you have a tiny bit of shame asking this man here to pay you such an amount when you know he doesn't have that kind of money? Are you that heartless that you can't let go of this when you know that you can pay times three of the money you are asking without even blinking an eye? Why do you have to treat him like this when you know he didn't mean it and that he doesn't have money on him to pay you back? Why do you have to ruin everyone's morning by blocking the road with your car? Let me tell you mister that some people could lose their jobs or not get one at all if you don't stop causing this damn traffic!"After my long speech, everyone began clapping saying I had done the right thing. The owner of the black sedan glared at me with so much hatred that made me think that he really wanted to kill me. I thought he would talk back or do something to me but he just turned around, entered his car and drove off. * End of Flashback*Jane Duncan's POV I was sitting in front of my desk and I couldn't stop myself from staring at the door thinking that sooner or later someone was going to batch in here and tell me that I'd been fired on my first day.It would be..."BOO!!""AAH" I suddenly screamed when someone sneaked up on me. I turned around and was not surprised it was Justin."Really? Don't you have work to do or what." I yelled, glaring at him. If looks could kill he would be six feet in the ground right now."Nope" he said with a smirk dragging the "p". "You know I have all the time in the world for you babe".I felt the urge to vomit when he said that. It wasn't that he wasn't handsome or attractive but I just couldn't see him in that way. Whenever I thought of me and him having that kind of relationship, I just feltl like throwing up.I guess that's why I'm immuned to his flirting and charms and I also knew he was just joking with me."So have you heard anything juicy about the new boss?" I asked him, hoping
Jane Duncan's POV "Really, that's why you called me?" I said, relieved."Of course that's why I called you. Is there any other particular reason why I should call you?""No! there's no reason. Don't listen to me. I say meaningless things sometimes haha.""Okay" She picked up the folder from her desk and placed it on my lap."Go through and write down the parts that need adjustments. Can I get it back by tomorrow at ten?"Tomorrow at ten! This thing has about 200 pages. Do I look like a robot?"Uhm sure"I say reluctantly. Damn that Justin I'm gonna kill him. (obviously doesn't want to do the task)"Don't worry rest assured you'll be highly compensated for this task.""Really?"(her mind's screaming money)"Yes Miss Duncan. I assure you it will be a hefty amount""Okay I'll submit it to you tomorrow at ten, no I think seven would be better so you can go through the pages I'll revise." (enthusiastic to finish the task)"You sure you can finish it before tomorrow?" Miss Mallory questioned
Jane Duncan's POV I checked the watch on my wrist and it was exactly five o’clock meaning I’d been here for almost an hour now. Beads of sweat continued to effortlessly glide down the body. There was an air conditioner in the room but I was still soaked with sweat from head to toe. I was going to lose my job. I continued to cast my eyes to the floor since the man who was going to fire me was staring at me with so much anger in his eyes that I wanted to dig the ground and bury myself. He cleared his throat and stood in front of me. “I’m not going to fire you” WHAT! Did I hear him right? Is this guy in his right mind? “I can assure you that there is nothing wrong with my mind." Damn, why did I say my thoughts. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that. It's just that I say shit when I'm nervous. I obvoiusly wasn't trying to insult you. Okay so maybe I did insult you but It wasn't on purpose. Ugh I probably should stop talking now." "To make myself clear to you I'm not firing you now b
Jane Duncan's POV "Why are you here Collins?" I hissed at him while blocking the door before He could enter. He hadn't changed a bit. It felt like yesterday since I last saw him. His hair has been pulled back as always making him look even more beautiful than he already is. If I didn't know him I would think he didn't eat from how lean he is. "Not even a Hi. It's been like six months since we last saw each other and the first thing you ask me is 'why am I here?'. Seriously Jane I didn't think you could get any colder." He puts his hand on the door revealing the heartbeat tattoo on his upper arm. I remembered when he first got it, it held so many memories. Memories that I desperately wanted to forget. "If you came here to insult me then you might as well leave because I don't have time for this." I tried to close the door but He forcefully pushed his way in and sat in the only armchair I had which was about seven years old now. "What do you want Collins? Just say what you want to

Brrring! brring!Ugh I hate this sound! Just stop already I want to go back to sleep.I stretched my hands and knocked the damn thing of the table.I'm exhausted!I just woke up and I'm already tired. I couldn't sleep because I'd been thinking about my encounter with Collin. I'd laid awake on my bed, eyes open looking at the ceiling, thinking about what I'd done to deserve this.I knew Collin, how persistant he was. That's what made me fall in love with him then. Once he set his eyes on something, he never gave up on it until he got it. And I'm scared that he'll trap me in cage again. The cage that I'd thought I rid of.Seriously I thought I wouldn't see him again but I guess things don't always go the way you want them to.Ugh I need to get up for work.My room's a mess as usual. I take my bath and put on a button-front mock neck sleeve dress with a black flat shoe.I poke my head outside to check the corridor before going out. I absolutely don't want to talk to Mrs. Hamilton this mo
Today I found a folder on my desk. I was assigned my first official work today and I'm super hyped about it. I have to do my best.Since I'm new here and I don't have much experience, I was surprised when I was assigned to write an article for the best selling magazine in the company, The Insider.I've read it once when I was still in college and I found it really intriguing. It contained a lot of stuffs about society and it's norms, youth empowerment and also critical issues that needed to brought out. When I opened the folder, I couldn't contain my excitement. It was like a dream come true for me. If I could scream my lungs out I would but I probably that want to end up in a psychiatric hospital.Although I'm excited about it, I'm also pretty scared too. What if I don't meet their expectations? What if I'm unable to do it right? What if I mess things up?All these questions run inside my head as I sit in front of my desk.I barely see Justin sit next to me if not for the squeaking
Damon Anderson's POV It's almost six when I make it back to the office after seating through a meeting when the board of directors. I loosen my tire and place it on my table. There's a knock on my door and Arwen enters. "Mr Anderson, I have the articles for the magazine. They were submitted on time as usual." "Hmmm. What about the new employee? What's her name I think it slipped out." "Oh. It's Jane Duncan. And she was the first to submit hers." "Hmmm. Okay, I'll go through them before tomorrow. And please stop calling me sir. Just call me Damon." I reprimand her. She's been my secretary for almost two years now and she still doesn't want to call me by my first name. "Okay, Sir...Sorry, Damon." "Haha, I've heard you. Have a good night." "You too Sir." She shouts as she closes the door. I thought I just told her to call me Damon... I pick up the folder and go through the first article on it. It's the one from Jane Duncan. The new employee I presume. She wrote about the healt
