CHAPTER NINE: NAME
The Arrival
We landed amid a clearing inside a thick forest. Clive and I jumped off the helicopter and looked around.
He frowned and approached Sergeant Paris.
"Where's the campsite?" he asked. "You're not going to try and kill us here, are you?" I looked around and realized that we were out of nowhere. I cleared my throat, terrified. We're with an adult soldier who just threatened to kill us a while ago. This can't be it.

Iyawned as I stepped on the track field. It's not the usual track field, you know, because it is also where the warplanes do the landing and takeoff. I think this is what they call airstrip. It is pretty spacious. Five o clock in the morning and the voice of Sergeant Paris woke us all. The morning lessons were over, and now I am back at the canteen for lunch. I can barely walk, and I don't know how many times I've stumbled down on my way there. I learned that the 500 students were grouped into five and was assigned to different Flexibility trainer. And only half of our class managed to get to the flexibility class right after the five-lap run. I was about to grab my tray when I saw Ace bullying another kid again. He pushed the kid down on the floor and kicked him on a leg. "I said get out of the way, didn't I?" he yelled. Some boys approached him.

The Professor stood there looking down at his student like she was nothing but a toddler. "Well, for a girl like you who thinks of herself as someone almighty," the Professor continued watching her. The image on the monitor isn't focusing on her face anymore but her whole body. She's clenching her fist like she felt insulted or something. "I can only guess that there's an insecure wench inside." She raised her head like she refused to get wind up. "Tell me," said the Professor. "Have you ever had a friend?" "I don't need one," she said.

Day three, and we're back on the full-scale physical fitness training---another day of pushing ourselves to our limits. The dessert during lunchtime and dinner were chocolate cakes and mocha cake, correspondingly. I searched for Ace to say sorry. I'd still want us to be friends. And besides, he got angry indeed with a reason. It must've been really my fault. Laws and Outlaws is that subject wherein lawyers do their best to pass. I still couldn't believe that I had actually received my very first detention. This is what you get for associating yourself with meddlesome people. Can you see those kids looking at you asking themselves how a nobody managed to get herself mixed with the likes of them? I sighed and stopped running. A fourteen-kilometer jog with a tire as big as this is probably the worst detention anyone can receive so far. And I know pretty well why I had received detention as extreme as this. "Two laps!" Loki yelled happily. "I'd be skipping Laws and Outlaws with this!"

Minnie was tailing me around, nagging and blabbing about Ace. Everyone knows that he has been bullying whoever sets foot within his visual range for the past few days. A week had passed, and we had Guns again. I just hope Private Stiles would overlook my average shooting ability this time. I entered the shooting range and noticed the pile of paraphernalia in front. Private Stiles entered the room, and my stomach was getting acidic, especially when he gave me a glance. What did I do to him, really? Creep. He looked sterner than the last time we saw him. "Good morning." There was a pause, and we murmured our replies.

You'd think this is one hell of an exciting game, but for someone like me, this is just pure trouble--- a complicated, troublesome worthless task.Who wants to be bait?! I doubt someone out there dreams of being bait. It's like how people throw in meat on a crocodile pen to draw them in. Damn that jerk! For all it's worth, this is his revenge on me. I still don't get why he's mad at me, but since he's one of those crazy kids, I'll let it pass. He must've lost a screw or something. I picked all the bait-like personalities in the class, or they chose me. And when I say bait-like, you'd probably think wimpy, and you're just half right. I sighed, looking at them. I can't help but feel sorry for ourselves. One of us even sneezed, spreading green matter down his chin.&
