CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR: FINDING OUT

I opened my eyes and turned to the clock on the bedside table. I wasn't surprised to find myself inside my infirmary room. My body's a stiff as stone. I must've slept for a long while now.

           I stood up and stared at my hands. Only my thumbs survived the beating. I couldn't help but feel sorry for my little fingers wrapped thoroughly with bandages.

           Fran entered the room holding a tray topped with a water bottle, a couple of medicine, and a kettle. There was food, too. I smiled at her, and she just sighed. She gave me three tablets of different-looking capsules. I took it and gulped it down with water.
