I blinked a few times just to check if I am not just seeing things.
Could it really be…
"Doom?" I blurted out suddenly.
I covered my mouth, as an instinctive response.
I was hesitant to approach him because it seems to me that he was resting.
I don't want to disturb him.
I heaved a deep sigh as I stepped back and started retreating from my position.
I gave a glance for one last time, but I was frozen on the spot and stared with wide eyes to find out that Doom was not there anymore.
Where could he possibly go?
I tilted my head side by side to check the surroundings.
Did I wake him up? Was I too loud?
"Looking for me?" someone spoke coldly behind my back as a hand tapped my shoulder.
I jolted in response due to my reflexes as I gasped looking back at who it was.
I was surprised by his sudden appearance.
I almost had a mini heart attack!
"H-hi?" I stuttered in reply and gave him an awkward smile.
"How did you know my name?" he asked as he moved his head closer to me.
He looked at me with suspicion in his eyes which made his forehead creased, but I can't deny the fact that he is deadly gorgeous.
I was about to move backward, but due to my clumsiness, I slipped as I briskly stepped on the dried leaves and twigs scattered on the ground.
I shut my eyes tightly waiting for me to fall and hit the ground, but I was taken aback when I felt that I was suspended and frozen in my falling position.
I opened my eyes instantly as I felt his cold hands wrapped around my waist, and pulled me closer towards his body.
Due to our foreheads, almost touching, I was able to memorize his features in a close-up view.
His face seemed to be carved, like the sculptor's life was devoted to his face. His eyes are glistening as two crimson gems dipped in milky pools, and lips that are firmly closed under a pointed nose like a well-polished arrowhead. His crescent-of-moon eyebrows were thin and narrow, and his angular cheekbones carved down towards a flinty jaw.
This man in front of me was perfection itself. He almost took my breath away.
My face heated upon the realization that hit me that I was stupidly gawking at his face for a long time. I avoided his gaze and turned my face away due to embarrassment.
In my peripheral vision, I saw his lips curved into a smirk as he scooped me in one swift, and carried me in bridal style.
He gently puts me down on the same spot he was resting earlier and made me lean comfortably at the bark of the tree.
He knelt his one knee on the ground. He cornered me as he placed his palm on the tree just above my head, and whispered, "How did you know my name?"
His minty breath and intoxicating scent evocatively invaded my whole being. It made me remember clearly the past that my mind was trying so hard to forget.
I can feel the heat burning at the back of my eyes.
Darn it.
I was not usually this vulnerable especially not in front of other people.
However, the emotions were too overwhelming that I could not contain them any longer.
His gazes were intently staring right through my eyes.
Tears started to pool at the corner of my irises, so I had no choice but to look away.
I sniffed lightly to prevent it from cascading to my cheeks.
As a treacherous tear escaped from my right eye, I felt his cold fingers wiped it gently.
He held my chin and lifted it with one finger making me face him as his stoic expression softened a little for a brief moment.
"Lily, I did not intend to scare you. I was just curious about how you knew my name," he explained monotonously as he slowly released my chin.
"You saved me before when I was kidnapped. You told me your name," I replied, slightly embarrassed to look at him in the eye.
"Did I?" he faintly asked.
"W-wait, you knew my name?" I uttered in surprise as I later realized that he also knew my name.
"I wondered just the same," he replied nonchalantly.
"What do you mean?" I asked looking confused, "Did you have amnesia that's why you forgot that you told me your name?"
Without any word he lifted me again from the ground and carried me in a bridal style.
"Let me take you home, instead. Close your eyes, it will be just quick."
"You knew my address?" I asked curiously lifting one of my brows to tease him.
If he was just not my savior, I would suspiciously accuse of him as a stalker.
A drop-dead gorgeous stalker if that's the case.
I giggled in my thought.
"Where do you live?" he asked still in a calm tone, but I knew I caught him off guard.
"The black and white mansion of Emerson Residences at Rosa Valley," I responded.
"Alright. Hold on tight and close your eyes," he whispered under his breath.
"Wait, when will I see you again?" I tightened my grip on his neck.
He paused for a while, and murmured, "Soon."
As I opened my eyes, I found myself on my bed.
Did I fall asleep during our trip?
"Butler Wong?" I called for my butler as I stood up, and went downstairs.
"I'm here, my lady," he answered in quick response.
"How did I get in here? Where is the guy who brought me here? Did he leave already?" I asked one question after another.
"My lady, I think you need some more rest. You must have been suffering from too much fatigue that you were seeing things." He looked at me with concern.
"Seeing things? What do you mean?"
"Seeing things? What do you mean?"My forehead creased because he was spouting nonsense."Alfred was the one who fetched you, my lady," he replied."Fetched where?" I questioned."We were a little worried because you did not come home immediately after visiting your parents," he explained, "Alfred checked on you on the cemetery, and he found you passed out on the ground.""That's absurd! Are you saying that I have lost my mind?" I exasperated."I'm sorry. It's not like that please calm down, my lady," he apologized, "Do you want some coffee?""No, it's alright." I dismissed him and climbed the stairs towards my room. What's happening? Was it only a dream? No, it's real. He's real.I opened the sliding glass doors of the balcony and went outside to get some fresh air."It's been so long since I have felt so alive. I wish I can see you again, Doom," I whispered with a sigh."Seems like your wish was granted."I tilted my head sideward, and I s
“The national police are looking for you,” he paused as he raised his right arm showing the home phone. “…on the phone. They said it was an emergency,” he added. His expression clearly says that it was bad news. He gave me the phone in a flash as soon as I extended my arm, and held out my hand. I put the phone on my ear as I uttered the word, “Hello.” “Good day, this is Officer Green from the office of the National Police Department,” the police officer greeted me, “May I speak with Miss Lily Emerson?” I dismissed Butler Wong using my hand for privacy, and I cleared my throat. “Speaking,” I replied in a calm tone, “What is this all about?” “We are deeply sorry for disturbing you in your humble abode, but we must inform you that three prisoners were involved in a dawn jailbreak today,” he explained slowly the i
I could not count how many times he muttered curses before he vanished into thin air. Meanwhile, here I am left dumbfounded on what had just happened earlier. My mind was debating whether we really did it or not. Technically, yes we sure did. But it was the fault of our recklessness so in my opinion it was not counted. I was sitting on the floor, my body was stupefied for a brief time. I touched the cut on my lip, as I flinched in pain. When we lose balance and stumbled towards each other, my body went sideward. I don’t know what had gotten into him, but he was able to catch me with his arms This resulted in the two of us falling straight to the hard ground, while I was on top of him. The impact was stronger than we have calculated. With the event happening so fast, all I could remember was his lips parted a lit
I think I am fated to die today in the hands of my wicked aunt. I whimpered in pain, as I fell to the ground clutching the knife stabbed on my chest. I shut my eyes closed tightly, as I embraced my doom. Doom? Doom, I remembered Doom. Will he be able to save me this time again? Or maybe, I guess it's already too late for me. The blood was nonstop dripping from my chest. I supposed I will die from blood loss in five minutes according to one article that I have read. Suddenly, a familiar feeling crept into my veins. I can no longer hear the insane cackles of my aunt. The blood stopped gushing from my wound. It felt like time froze again, and it only means one thing. “D-doom…” I faintly whispered under my breath. “Open your eyes. It's not yet your time.” Did I
“You’re safe now, my lady,” Butler Wong said and greeted me with a smile. “Where am I?” I asked as I roamed my eyes on the surroundings. I saw the commotion outside the door. I see, I am in the hospital. Doctors and nurses were busy saving people's lives. “Hospital, my lady,” he replied. I returned my gaze to my butler who was smiling at me the whole time. This was the first time that I noticed it, but he was kind of creepy. “Butler Wong, where have you been the whole time last night?” I asked suspiciously but I did not make it too obvious. “What do you mean, my lady?” His smile never faded from his lips. “I won’t say it twice. You know what I mean,” I said coldly. “By any chance, do you suspect me, my lady?” he asked as his smile was wiped off from his face. “Is there any reason for me to suspect you, butler Wong?” I retorted his question. I crossed my arms, not taking my eyes off him as
After few days, I slowly regained my strength and got discharged from the hospital. I was permitted to take a few days of rest from the house before going back to school. Currently, I’m just hanging out with myself In my room. Enjoying the scent of my beloved books, the aroma of my hot coffee, and the wonderful bliss of the serene ambiance of today's weather. I opened the glass doors of my balcony and was greeted by the rushing uninvited guests called the treacherous breezy winds that usually appear during the season of the rainy days. I love the cold feather-like kisses of the wind as it lightly brushes through my blonde hair and the tips of my porcelain skin. It was refreshing, the ultimate paradise, and my very own haven. The rhythm of the raindrops echoed in my ears like a mellifluous melody that made me dance like I'm grooving in my favorite sonata.
“My lady? Are you alright?” my butler said on the door as he immediately rushed towards the balcony, and helped me get up. “Yes, how did you get here so fast, butler Wong?" I said as I’m trying to adjust my wobbling knees and balance in standing. “I was about to knock when I heard a gunshot so I immediately checked on you,” he explained. “Did they catch the culprit?” I asked as I heaved a long deep sigh, and wiped the sweat on my forehead. “They are still tracing where the sound came from. That person didn’t even bother to use a silencer,” he analyzed as he realized something, “Should I escort you to your room, my lady?” he added. “Thank you,” I uttered as he started to escort me towards my bed. “Don’t worry too much, my lady. We will do our best to catch that person, and make him atone for his crimes.” “Alright. Kindly close and lock the glass door of my balcony,” I ordered him while tucking myself in bed. “Right ahead
I browsed further the pieces of evidence laid on the table, and I saw a photo of a rifle gun. In the picture, it was exposed to be hidden under the thick mat from the trunk of the car. The next photo was a load of bullets from that very same gun on the previous photo. It looked exactly the same as the bullets found on the treehouse and my balcony. Aside from that, another thing caught my attention. A photo of a gas mask on the bed allocated in the sleeping chamber of Alfred. Could it be?... At first glance, I can only think of Alfred immediately as the main suspect because he was after all the one being pointed by the evidences gathered here. It can be believable, yes but not enough to fool me. The pieces of evidence were too accurate to be real. And they missed out on that part in framing
