Chapter 2: Mafia Boss

Zuck

"What?" I asked snarling over the phone. I can't help but feel annoyed with Rex for interrupting my good slumber for this useless call.

"The Maxwell's are refusing to pay their debt again which is already due for two months," Rex replied to me on the other line and my brows immediately furrowed upon hearing his sentiment. I think I already know what he's going to say next and I have a feeling that I will not like it.

"It's not my problem anymore, Rex. I'm not your assistant or your servant that will always be there to fix the problems you have with your company." I said to Rex without even trying to hide the annoyance in the tone of my voice but Rex being a douchebag, he just laughed at me which makes me even more annoyed with him. Now, I understand why they always said that it's better to say a joke to a drunken man but not with someone who just wakes up. If Rex was standing in front of me right now, I might already have punched him in the face.

"I think it's high time that you deal with your problem, Rex," I said on the other line.

"Tsk! If only Zie was here, I wouldn't have a problem now, he always knows what to do with those fuckers who refused to pay their debt." Rex said on the other line as I heard him take a deep sigh. I can't help but swallow my saliva when I heard what he just said, I don't know what to say so I just kept quiet.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned his name," Rex said softly on the other line after a few seconds of silence. I let out a deep sigh before I sat down in the swivel chair.

"You're an asshole, Rex, you know that? This will be the last time that I'm meddling with your problems and that's it, you're on your own, Rex." I said with conviction on the other line and even though I can't see Rex's expression, I'm sure as hell that he's smiling right now.

"Yeah! Sure, as long as you can take the money that the Maxwell's borrowed from me." Rex replied on the other line.

"How much are we talking about here?" I ask him.

"It's roughly 15 Million," Rex replied.

"Okay, I'll see what can I do with this," I replied to Rex and we talk for another minute or two before I dropped the call. I threw my cellphone on the bed and then take off my clothes. I wanted to go back to sleep but I was thinking of doing what Rex is asking from me because I don't want him calling me again so fucking early in the morning just to bother me with updates about the Maxwell.

I went to the bathroom naked and quickly take a quick shower. I came out of the bathroom after a few minutes with a black towel wrapped around my waist.

"Shit! I forgot to call, Maclen." I said softly to myself so I immediately picked up my cellphone and called Maclen, while the phone was ringing I walked over to the dresser and grabbed a boxer, plain white shirt, and pants.

"What do you want, Zuck?" Maclen asked snarling at me and I can't help but smirk thinking that he might be still sleeping when I call him.

"We have things to do, get ready!" I said and I laugh weakly when I heard him cursing on the other line.

"It's fucking early in the morning, can't it wait till the sun rises?" Maclen complained but I just smirk at him even though he can't see me.

"Are you kidding me? That's how you talk to your boss?" I asked him with an authoritative voice.

"You're not my boss, not yet, Zuck," Maclen replied which made me frown.

"I swear when I become the boss, I'm gonna kick your ass out of the mafia, or worst I'm gonna kill you, remember that, Maclen." I threatened him but instead of getting scared, Maclen just laughed at me which annoyed me big time.

"What the hell is so funny about your death, Maclen?" I asked him irritated.

"Come on, Zuck, I already knew you since when we were still kids and I know that you always want your hands clean as much as possible, and you love how I work which means you're not gonna kick me out of the mafia." Maclen's cocky response and I hate to admit it but everything he said was true. I'm not innocent, I already killed someone before but I'm trying my best to be clean as much as possible.

"Just fucking do your thing and meet me here at the hotel that I'm staying. Find where in hell the Maxwell is hiding right now." I said and immediately hung up on him because I don't want to hear him laughing at my frustrations.

I quickly put on my boxer brief, my plain-white shirt, and my pants. I looked at my reflection in front of the full-length mirror and I couldn't help but gasp when I saw the bruised on the side of my neck, it was all my father's fault. We're doing a sparring yesterday and he was a bit aggressive that I thought he forgot that I'm still a fucking human and not the punching bag. As a result, I got a bruised on my neck, and thank god that it wasn't huge and my shirt covered half of it.

About five minutes later, I received a message from Maclen that he was already outside the hotel where I'm staying waiting for me downstairs, so I immediately got out of my room.

"This fucker really fancy showing off!" I said softly to myself when I came out of the hotel and I saw a matte black Mercedes-Benz waiting for me. Maclen was looking at me with a smug face as I walk closer to his car, I just raise my brows at him.

"How are you, Zuck?" Maclen asked me as soon as I got inside the car. I just shrugged my shoulder at him while putting on my seatbelt.

"Still the same, nothing new," I answered sparingly but he just stared at me intently as if he was reading my body movements and facial expressions.

"Stop whatever you're doing right now, Maclen. You're bad at reading someone's expression." I commented snickering at him.

"You've been to Russia for five long months, Zuck. Are you sure you're still the same? Or you're slowly turning into someone, let's say like your father?" Maclen stated and for a moment it makes me think about his question.

It's that long already? It's been five months since I left the Philippines and start my training in Russia for my preparation in taking over my dad's mafia business.

"Hey, are you okay?" Maclen asked me and slightly pat my shoulder to get my attention.

"Ha? Um, yeah, I'm okay. Let's get this over with." I replied and he just nodded at me before he turned on the engine and starts driving the car.
