Maybelline Walter POV

I held my phone tightly contemplating on whether I should or not call Miles. Why was I worried about him, I had no idea.

"It's normal to be worried. How will you get your balance if he doesn't come home?" I said to myself as I went to check the window again to see if he had already come in since I could see the parking lot from my window, but his car was not yet at the parking lot.

"Why is he taking so long?" I mumbled and finally dialled his number.

"Hey, wife," His deep voice sounded from the other end, and my heart missed a beat. I suddenly lost my voice and my breath hitched for a moment as my heart pumped hard.

"Are you there? May?" His voice sounded again and I pursed my lips and took a deep breath.

"Hmm. Sorry, I didn't intend to call you. I thought I dialed Lily's number," I rushed my words and quickly hung up.

"Fuck! What was that?" I breathed out and cursed as I held my chest.
