Chapter 1

A girl dressed in an all black, long fitted gown with a thin black cloth covering her eyes sat in front of a piano. Her fair, long, slender fingers rummaged through the piano keys, and soon enough, a beautiful melody sounded from the instrument. The girl playing the music swayed slowly as if moving with the calm rhythm of the sound from the piano.

The tune coming from the piano seemed to carry magic as it healed everyone's inner soul. The tune carried a calming sound, which made people yearn more for it.

Just as the girl finished playing the song on the piano, a round of applause echoed around the big and spacious hall. All the guests present couldn't help but praise her skills of playing the keyboard. They all looked at her with care, admiration, and love, but mostly sympathy.

"What a pity, what's the point of having such a beautiful face, nice body, gifted hands, prefect talent, but a useless pair of eyes. Even with all her specialities, she's still blind." A guest said loud enough for everyone's hearing.

Although everyone thought the word as rude, they still nodded their head in agreement. What's the point of being perfect in everything if you don't have the sight to see the world as it is.

The girl on the stage heard clearly what the guest said about her.

A small smirk firmed on her exquisitely beautifully made face. She was used to people talking bad about her, so she was completely immune to their words.

She simply stood up from her seat. With the aid of her long black walking stick, she climbed down the stage to her seat at the front, gracefully and elegantly. Anyone who saw her at that moment without the knowledge that she's blind would have thought she wasn't blind.

As soon as she sat on her seat, a warm pair of hands held her ice-cold hand. " It's okay, tanya. You did well up there." Lydia said with a gentle smile on her face.

Tanya, who still had a cold look on her face, gave a little, or better still, a light smile back to her mother, or, to put it simpler, stepmother.

"Sister, you look extremely gorgeous today." Luna said to tanya cheerfully.

"Haven't I always been beautiful?" Tanaya asked back. Even with black cloth still on her eyes, luna could feel the smug feeling emanating from her.

"Oh, I forgot, sister, you are always beautiful. If you were a boy, I would have married you regardless of the fact that you're my sister." Luna said cheerfully as she held Tanya's arm possessively.

"I know, you have always told me how beautiful I look, but what use is my beauty if I'm just a disabled person." Tanya said, her voice as cold as ice. Just as she said that, she peeled of luna's hand away from her arm. "And dear luna, please, you know how much i value my personal space, so please, no clinging unto me." With that, tanya picked up her walking stick and muffled 'I'm headed to the restroom' to Lydia before walking away.  Lydia stared at Tanya's retreating figure, and a wave of sadness rushed through her body.

In the restroom, tanya stood in front of the washing hand basin. After washing her hand clean and wiping the arm luna touched her with, she stretched her hand to feel the paper towel, which she knew would be somewhere around here.

After searching for minutes and couldn't find the paper towel, tanya sighed in frustration. She moved her hand to her face and removed the black piece of fabric covering her eyes.

As soon as the fabric was removed, a beautiful set of eyes was revealed.  Eyes like rare diamonds, face like rare treasure, skin as white as snow, body like a masterpiece of God, overall, she is beautiful.

Tanya rubbed her eyes hard and blinked her eyes countless times, but still, she could see nothing but darkness.

Again, she groaned for God knows how many times. This wasn't the first time she did it, not the second time, and not the third time either. She had done that countless times, but still, the result was always the same.

Sighing in defeat, tanya took the black piece of fabric and tied it on her face back, picked up her walking stick, and left the restroom.

As she was busy walking through the hallway, she heard her father's voice in the hall nearby. She guessed he was giving the congratulation speech as the eldest. The hallway was dead silent, the only sound coming from the walking stick tapping the floor in a rhythmic sound.

Just as tanya was to enter the hall, she bumped into something, or maybe someone. As she thought she was about to fall from the impact, a sting pair of hands grabbed her slender waist, preventing her from falling. But due to the impact, the black fabric covering her face got loose and fell off her eyes.

Tanya eyes flickered gentle and soon opened her eyes only for an eye-catching pair of eyes to come into her view. For the first time in her twenty years of living, she finally saw something apart from darkness, a pair or eyes, looking down at her.

But that was the only thing she saw. The person who bumped into her steadied her on her feet and soon left.

Tanya, who was feeling weird about what she just saw, was hit by a gush rush of wind.

The wind made her feel dizzy, and soon, she fell on the cold floor, unconscious.

The morning sun shone brightly on Tanya's face. Tanya slowly opened her eyes but blinked severally. " Tanya, my dear, are you okay? Please answer me. You're making me anxious." Lydia said in an almost breaking voice.

" Miss tanya, are you okay? Please say something." The doctor who was sitting beside the bed asked.

" I don't think I'm okay." Tanya said after some seconds.

" Why, what's wrong, are you feeling pain anywhere?" Lydia asked with concern evident in her voice.

" I'm not feeling any pain anywhere." Tanya said.

The doctor looked confused as he asked again." Then, why aren't you okay?

" I can see very clearly now. I mean, I'm not blind anymore." Tanya said.
