Sean took Renee's hand formally when entering the restaurant. The head of the restaurant himself greeted them and escorted them both to the table that had been prepared.

Sean seemed familiar with the head of the restaurant, a foreigner with a thick French accent. Every now and then Sean spoke fluent French and smiled at the head of the restaurant.

From the information that Renee had received, Sean's father was Italian and his mother was of French descent. Perhaps this is why Sean speaks fluent French, even though that is none of her business. Renee quickly took her mind off Sean.
