What’s going on?!

6:00am ….

Harold’s eyes followed every of her movement as she walked out of the bathroom, she was already fully dressed, but her hair was still wrapped up in a small white towel.

She was beautiful, the delicate kind of beautiful, her big brown eyes further highlighted her good looks and made her distinct.

She was a random call girl he brought to an hotel last night to satisfy his sexual urge, he knew better than to take her to his multi billionaire mansion, ofcourse his nosy mother would pester the life out of him, for sleeping with a call girl.

Gently the lady pulled the towel off her hair and his eyes trailed down her thick, long black hair that descended down her shoulders.

She was different, different from other call girls he had ever being with, not like he had been with more than one though but she still felt different, everything about her was different, it felt weird but the night they spent together was the most blissful he ever had.

Harold Houston was a renowned business man, he was quite famous in the society for being the CEO of his father’s business and quite popular among ladies, probably because of his looks and his multibillion status.

Although his hair looked a total mess right now, resulting from the very good sex he had last night, normally his short cropped hair framed his face perfectly, a part of it dropping dangerously to the side of his face, his dark gray eyes and well chiseled jawline further complimented his features, overall he looked like he was made from a very different cast, one that stood out among all others.

Harold bit his lips slightly as he stared at her just do her thing, she gently took her seat at the edge of the bed and began to put on her shoes, even after what happened between them yesterday she still seemed rather meticulous and coordinated, and that really impressed him.

He sat up on the bed and cleared his throat to get her attention but she still didn’t spare him a glance, he reached for his business card in the pocket of his pant lying careless on the floor and stretched it out to her immediately.

Her movement stilled, she slowly turned to look at him, and for the first time in the few hours they’ve been together for, she got the perfect view of his face. Her mouth dropped as she stared at him, she hadn’t seen anyone like him before, her eye lids momentarily went close and she slowly opened them immediately, he was real! He was still right there in front of her, she couldn’t believe she just spent the night with someone who looked like a god.

“You like what you see?! Call me!” His voice echoed pulling her out of her fantasy land, she flinched immediately blinking her eyes rapidly and her eyes slowly dropped down to his hands and the card he was stretching to her. She scoffed, the corner of her lips stretching into a wry smile,

“You want me to be your personal booty call?! Not interested!” She snorted, grabbed her bag from the bed and headed for the door. Harold’s hands dropped carelessly to the bed as he watched her leave.

“No! I want to marry you!” He said as soon as she got to the door, she paused in her tracks and slowly turned to look at him, her fingers tightening in a fist.

“Still not interested!” She slammed as she turned around opened the door and stormed out of the room closing the door with a loud bang.

“Oh Boy,” Harold whispered.

As soon as Tricia got outside of the room, her breath became quick and rough, her slow steps soon turned into small sprint as she ran away, with heavy heartbeat and beads of sweat already forming on her forehead she held onto the wall and her hand flung to her chest as she tried to calm her breathing.

In all her three years of working as a call girl for wealthy men, she had never experienced something like this.

As simple as it might have sounded it was still very scary for her, Marry her?! Who the hell would want to marry her?! Knowing fully well her body count would be over the roof.

Tricia was in her mid twenties, she graduated from the university about three years and it just seemed like all the jobs disappeared from the earth, or maybe she wasn’t just lucky enough to get a job, even a job as petty as a coffee shop attendant.

She had a younger sister to attend to, step sister actually. Her mother left her and her father immediately she was born and her father married another woman right after. Her step mother was a good woman, she was good to her and she didn’t feel the fact that she wasn’t her biological mother.

But unfortunately, she died during childbirth and her father died some years later, leaving her to take care of her step-sister.

She made up her mind to do everything possible for her sister just to make her comfortable and not have to live the kind of life she was living.

After a while, her breathing returned to normal and she exhaled deeply.

“The things we see in this job,” she muttered to herself as she held her bag tightly against her shoulder and began to make her way home.

Later that morning …

7:00am ….

Harold exhaled deeply, the whole scenario with the lady earlier replaying in his head as he walked into his house and towards the staircase.

In all of his twenty six years of walking the surface of this earth, no one had ever rejected or refused him.

And this particular lady rejecting him felt so unreal, he wanted to be angry but he just couldn’t find it in him, rather he felt an irresistible urge to make her bend to his desires. Whatever it was that he felt for her, love?! Lust?! Whatever, he just needed to have her as his wife.

“Where are you coming from?!” He heard. He paused, slightly taken aback, he knew exactly who it was, the only person that had the audacity to be in his house this early even though she knew very much she was similar to a weed here - Not wanted!

“And what has that got to do with you?!” He muttered, his hands still on the railings not turning to spare her a glance.

“I’m your mother Harold!” She snapped, he snickered as his hands dropped from the railings and he slowly turned to look at her.

“No, step mother!” He corrected.

“Same difference! Same difference Harold! When are you going to stop this childish behavior,”

“It’s been thirteen years, what do you want me to do that I haven’t done?!”

He slowly tucked his hands into his pocket and stepped closer to her, he leaned in downwards towards her height and slowly looked beyond her.

“Leave!” He whispered.

“Don’t you think it’s a little too late for that, and it’s never going to happen?!”

“Your father and I love each other!”

He released a scoff and gently stood up straight.

“Okay then, Stay and as you stay, stay away from me! You’re not my mother!”

“You have no right to pry into my personal affairs!” He muttered.

“Still doesn’t change the fact that I’ll stop asking you to get a wife! Ever since Carrie you ….”

“That’s enough!” He growled stepping away from her.

“That’s enough from you! Know your place and stop meddling in my business!”

“You have no right calling her name! I don’t want to be rude Katie, just leave me the fuck alone!” He snapped as he turned around and stormed off.

Meanwhile …

“You seem moody what’s going on?!” Jane, Tricia’s sister asked as she walked into her room and flopped down on the bed beside Tricia who was trying to arrange her bag.

“You won’t believe what happened today, I …” Tricia wanted to rant but paused as her eyes caught something in her bag, it seemed really familiar and she pulled it out.

“Really?!” Tricia muttered looking up at her sister who just stared at her in confusion.

“What’s going on?!” Jane asked as she took what Tricia was holding and peered at it.

“What?! Harold Houston?! How did you get it!” Jane gasped as her eyes swiftly went through the content of the business card.

“Can you believe this guy?!” She muttered as she folded her legs beneath her on the bed turning fully to face Jane.

“After our business this morning he asked to marry him!” She explained.

“Tell me you agreed immediately,” Jane said her eyes widening in excitement as she propped forward like she was going to snatch the words from Tricia’s throat before she even opened her mouth.

“What do you mean agreed?!” She snorted, snatching the card from her hand with an irritated eye roll.

“How can I agree to marrying a complete stranger I just had a one night stand with?! Are you thinking at all?!”

“What do you mean complete stranger?! This is Harold Houston we’re talking about! America’s most eligible bachelor, every other lady would kill to be in your position right now!” Jane tried to persuade.

“America’s Most Eligible bachelor?! Can you stop exaggerating sis,” she muttered as she unfolded her legs and stood up from the bed.

“He ain’t even that popular, I don’t know him!” She added in a mutter.

“I’m not surprised, you don’t know anyone,”

“What’s that supposed to mean?!”

“I don’t know, are you not tired of doing this job?! Atleast someone is offering to take you out of it, even if there’s no other reason, that reason is very valid!” Jane persuaded, Tricia exhaled deeply as she slowly turned to look at Jane.

“I’ll stop this job okay?! But definitely not like this!”

“Okay, you just do you!” Jane muttered in reply.

“Thank you!” She whispered as she slowly walked back to her bed and took her seat there.

“You should get going to school now,” she added.

“Alright alright sure,” Jane muttered as she stood up from the bed, she leaned closer to Tricia and took the card from her.

“I’ll help you dispose this off,” she said immediately before Tricia could say a word.

“Okay! Thank you sis!!!”

9:00am ….

Soft sounds of Harold’s shoe hitting the finely tiled ground of the corporation filled the air, it wasn’t really the clicking sound of his shoe heels that drew their attention, but his impeccable facial features.

He exuded an aura of authority and sophistication, his sharp, chiseled features complemented by his well-tailored suit.

Employees scurried away in fear for him as they stood by and watched him walk in, their eyes fixated on the intimidating figure approaching.

As he made his way through the sea of employees, whispered greetings filled the air,

"Good morning, Mr. Houston ,"

"Good Morning, Sir,"

But it was as if his ears were immune to all their greetings. His piercing, dark grey eyes remained fixed ahead, his jaw clenched, still slightly annoyed by his mother sudden appearance at his house.

His secretary, Carl, equally composed and more approachable, followed closely behind.

His steps matched Harold’s pace as they reached the elevator. The polished silver doors slid open, revealing an empty space, without breaking his stride, Harold entered the elevator, and Carl swiftly followed, his perfectly manicured hand reaching out to press the button for the top floor.

The doors closed and the employees returned to their jobs.

“You have to …” Carl began as soon as the elevator doors closed but stopped as soon as Harold’s phone dinged signalling the arrival of a message.

Harold slowly raised his phone to his face and looked down at the message.

-“Hello, this is Tricia, I accept your offer, I stay at 24 Shalom Close, pick me up!”-

The message read, he slowly moved his gaze up from his phone and a wide smile crossed his lips.

“Bingo!”
