Twenty Two

"When did you find out that you are pregnant?" Madam Florence raised a question.

It was a few weeks ago. I was feeling sick repeatedly, I assumed it was the difficulty of the work I engaged myself in. Since the death of my mother, no help from anyone. I often visit people's houses and ask if they have any dirty clothes, I wash to get paid. The little I earned from it, I spent on my day-to-day feeding, it's better off than stealing.

When I was feeling sick, I rushed to get Paracetamol at a nearby pharmacy. I only feel a bit relieved for short periods. After a while, the uneasy feeling resurfaced.

One afternoon, I was on my way to get the usual paracetamol, and I stumbled on Dr. Alex, he was one of the doctors that gave attention to my mom at wuse hospital. He recognized me at once.

"Tonia, sorry about your mom's death. As doctors we tried our best," Dr. Alex confessed.

"Thanks, I knew you all tried everything within your span to keep her alive but death is stronger than us. She's resti
