Amoret POV"How's life over in Silver Moon Pack?" I asked Theo."Dull without you around baby sister. But all jokes aside, things are going well. I've been given the chance to train the warriors some recently and it seems like the alpha likes the progress they've made. Maybe there will be another head warrior in the family, huh pops?" Theo gave dad a proud smile.Dad's eyes were still on me, however. "Yeah, I think we definitely will keep that tradition alive."I gave him a questioning look and he quickly put his attention back on Theo. "And how's my newest grandbaby?"Alice looked over at the bundle snuggled up in his career. "He's an angel. Couldn't have asked for a more wonderful pup." You could see how much she adored her pup just from the way her face lit up when she talked about him.``Speaking of pups...Charlie, when are you going to make me a grandpa again?" dad nudged Acewhose face turned bright red."Dad!" Ace cried incredulously. "We've only been mated a few weeks. Chill on
Sebastian POVUgh, my fourth mating ball. Is it even worth it anymore? I'm beginning to think my visions aren't going to come true. I've seen her, if only from a distance. I've heard her voice, in a crowd of others. I've heard her laugh, and oh what a beautiful sound that is. I've been dreaming of this girl since my eighteenth birthday. Always the same girl. Always beautiful and kind. I'm so drawn to her in these dreams. It must be her. My mate."My goddess, Sebastian . Are you going to the ball or not?"I looked up to see my best friend and second in command, Adan. "Er, yeah. Just mentally preparing myself, you know?" I replied halfheartedly."Well you're going to need to physically prepare yourself too if we're ever going to make it," he retorted.I looked down and realized what he meant. I'm still wearing yesterday's clothes and my hair is an absolute mess. It's been crazy here the past few days and I haven't had a moment to myself. Always people pulling me in different directions
Amoret POVThe ride to the ball was relatively pain free. Lucy kept the conversation light as she could tell I was still nervous. We pulled into Midnight Pack territory where the ball was being held and slowly drove up the winding path towards the great hall. There was a line of cars and we were about ten cars back from the entrance. As each car dropped its passengers and drove away, I became more and more anxious. I felt Lucy squeeze my hand reassuringly and I looked over to her. She gave me a smile and told me, "Everything is going to be fine Amoret . I promise. I won't let anything bad happen to you."I trust her. Her eyes lit up at that moment and I looked towards the window. Our car was next in line. I know she's excited. I can do this for her. I put on a big smile and squeezed her hand back. She took out a compact from her purse and checked her makeup one last time. Deciding it was fine, she swiftly closed it and stuffed it back in her bag."Ready?" she asked."Ready," I answere
Sebastian POVI pulled up to the entrance of the Midnight Pack grand hall. The guards waiting outside were surprised to see me get out of the driver's seat. Normally wolves get chauffeured to this event."Would you be willing to park it nearby? I want to make sure I can access it when I need it," I said to one of the guards.Understanding crossed his face and he bowed. I guess my mask won't be as effective as I thought it might be. "Yes, your highness. I will take great care with it," he agreed.I sighed. Another person treating me differently for my title and nothing else. The other guards bowed as well as we passed. The first guard must have mind linked them in regards to our status. As we entered the foyer, a server came up to us and asked if we would like to be announced. Adan was quick to cut in, "Not tonight, thank you. The Princewould like a quiet evening. I hope you understand." The server nodded and bowed before leaving us to enter on our own.I could hear the music and it w
Amoret POVI'd sat in the garden longer than I'd originally planned, just thinking about life and singing songs my mom and I used to sing together. I thought a lot about my mother and how much I missed her. I wondered when my dad would head out for his next trip to search for her. He hadn't gone yet this month. Probably because of all the big events in my life and the extra training the alpha was asking for. I know he hasn't forgotten though.I thought about my mate and whether I would find him or not this weekend. I'm still not sold on the idea and the thought of coming back tomorrow is terrifying. I'm just not ready.I also thought about my first shift. I'm not scared like most wolves are for their first shift. This is something I've felt prepared for my whole life. My dad has taught me techniques for going through the shift to make it less painful and quicker. A fast shift for a wolf can be the difference between life and death. Newly shifted wolves are notoriously slow shifters d
Sebastian POVWhy is going home from this goddess forsaken place so hard? I asked myself that question for the third time as I sat in the driver's seat of my car still not having moved from Midnight Pack's parking lot.'You know why,' my wolf sneered. He was still angry that I wasn't willing to go take my mate by force tonight. He can be so pushy sometimes.'We will see her tomorrow,' I replied in my head.'So sure? Do you know you'll see her tomorrow? What will you do if you don't see her? What if she actually ran off with another wolf?' he mocked me.That really got my blood boiling. The thought of her with anyone but me was enraging. 'NO,' I barked.'Exactly,' he said.'So what do you suggest?' I asked. 'I am not going to disrupt her first shift because we can't keep it in our pants for one night.''And why not?' he retorted.'You know why not,' I snapped. 'Let's go with a middle ground. We find out from Adan's mate where she is and we go to her. We can watch her from afar and kno
Amoret's POVDad and I pulled up to the pack house at twelve forty-five. I quickly ran upstairs to my room and changed into something more comfortable. This dress wouldn't do for a first shift and I don't want it to get destroyed in the process. I still need to wear it tomorrow for day two of the ball.I bounded down the stairs two at a time. This was the most excited I'd been in years. Getting my wolf has been something I've been desperately looking forward to. My whole family was waiting for me in the living room. I could tell Ezra was a bit put off that Lucy didn't make it back with me. His overprotective father gene was working overtime right about now.Dad got everyone moving and we headed off to the clearing where he and I had our little one-on-one yesterday. As we stepped into the clearing, I gave dad a smug smirk and he scowled at me. "Not a word," he whispered to me under his breath and gestured towards Ezra. I giggled and nodded in agreement. I'll keep my nose out of their r
Waking up with the sounds of nature spilling into my room. It was early but I enjoyed waking with the sun. The soft rays gently caressing my skin and the cool breeze coming in through the perpetually open window gave me a peaceful feeling. This was my favorite way to start the day.I lazily stretched in bed and grabbed my phone. Waking up the screen, I saw that it's Thursday. Only one more day before I was shipped off to the annual mating ball. This will be my first time attending as my eighteenth birthday coincides with the first day of the ball. Only unmated wolves between eighteen and twenty-nine are permitted to attend. Once a wolf turns thirty it's usually assumed their mate found someone else to mate with or they're dead. Most unmated wolves don't make it that far though. The majority of the mating ball attendees are between eighteen and twenty-three. After twenty-three the pull to mate is so strong that most wolves find someone convenient and passable to be their chosen mate.
