Chapter Twenty-Three

could always sense when something bad was about to happen. And throughout my time at the cafè, where I'd gone to write, I'd felt something was wrong.

I left the cafè earlier than I usually did, rushing back home. On a normal day, servants usually loitered around the mansion, but my father had given them a one week break.

So, the mansion was quiet. But I couldn't help but feel there was an eeriness to the silence. And the feeling deepened as I headed towards my room.

“Dad?” I called out, holding on to my backpack.

Silence…

I decided to check his study. My father always spent his time there, whenever he didn't go to the office.

“Dad, are you-” My words trailed off, as a gasp left my lips. My eyes widened, as I tried processing the sight before me.

“Dad-” I choked out, throwing my backpack to the floor, and hurrying deeper into the room. I shook their cold bodies, wishing this was one of the nightmares I usually had.
