CHAPTER 4

Shay's POV

Blind dates are the death of me. No matter how many I went to and how many guys my mother set me up with, I still don't have a likeable reason to go meet the guy on a stupid blind date. The guys are not the problem, I'll admit that some of the guys I've meet on a blind date are actually good looking and fun to talk to but I'm just not into any of them. It's not that my standards are that high it's just that, I just haven't met the right one yet. But that is not part of my long term plan right now, to be in a relationship. Maybe once I moved out from home and start living my life than maybe I'll consider seeing someone that loves me for who I really am rather than the background I have.

As soon as the car stopped in front of the salon, my phone started ringing inside my purse. I took my phone out and sighed when I saw 'mom' flashing on the screen.

"Hello mom."

"Are you at the salon yet?" I rolled my eyes and glanced out the window.

Of course she would call just to make sure that I'm really there.

"Yes, I've just arrived."

"Good. Remember, he's waiting at that nice restaurant with the sprinkler fountain. You know? The one we went to last week-"

"Yes, I remember mom!"

"Okay then, get your hair and makeup down with Ella and call me when you're on your way home."

I ended the call and leaned back on the car seat and stared outside for about a minute. Getting married is the last I want right now, let alone marrying a guy that I don't even know. If I'm going to get this one off my track just like the last ones, than I guess the good old trick can also work on him. I stepped out of the car and made my way inside the salon and asked for Ella, Shanelle and mom's only hairdresser and makeup artist. After getting my makeup and hair done, I got into the car and the driver drove me to the restaurant.

It was more like a huge fancy plaza where all famous restaurants are located in one floor each. The one where I'm heading to is right on the fifth floor, so I made my way to the elevators and pressed the button for the fifth floor just as the guy next to me was reaching in to press for the sixth floor. It was awkward making eye contact with him and exchanging polite smiles when the guy is like the most handsome stranger I've ever seen. I glanced at him one more time and finally noticed he was wearing a black suit, his hair was perfectly styled and just the mere sight of the side profile from my point of view was enough to give me the idea that not only was he good looking, he was probably rich too.

I faced the front again, took a deep breath in and ignoring the hot stranger next to me, I released my hair from the claw clip and ran my fingers through them. I grabbed my lipstick from my purse and did a quick retouch and finally got off the elevator. I walked into the restaurant, looked around for about a second till my eyes landed on the right guy who was perfectly described to me that he will be wearing a deep blue suit. I walked over to him and before he had the chance to stand up to greet me, I pulled out a chair and sat down in front of him at the table. He chuckled while glancing down and then finally looking up to see me.

"Chase Evans, right?" He nodded once with a smug smile on his face.

"Correct. And you must be Shay Falcon." I nodded and fold my arms in front of me and crossing my leg over the other while I do a good analysis on him.

One thing for sure is that, he's too handsome that it suddenly made me feel bad that I'm about to turn him down too.

"Before we get to the part where we get to know each other, first off you're not my type." He quickly placed a hand over his chest and feigned a hurt expression.

"Ouch." I raised a brow and leaned closer towards the table.

"Second, I don't know how to cook and I don't wanna learn either. I hate doing laundry, house chores and all that, I'll rather hire maids to do all that for me. Shopping is what I do every day, cats creep me out that I'll rather cheat on you than live with one. Clubbing with my friends is like a main Friday night thing for me. Sorry for going straight to the point, I just wanna put it all out there because we both know the real reason why we're here. So if I were you I would start reconsidering my decision right now."

He kept staring at me for a minute long and then glanced away and chuckled again. He looks back at me and rubbed his chin with his thumb and pointer finger and slowly leaned back in his chair as if analyzing me back for the first time.

"Thanks for letting me know. But I've already reconsidered my decision about marrying you before I walked into this restaurant." He replied with a cool tone.

I slowly released a breath of relief and smiled at him for the first time.

"So you also think this was a horrible idea?" He nodded and slowly stood up from his seat and came and stood beside me while shoving his hands in both his pockets.

"Yeah. But you could've just told me that in the beginning."

He reached out and tipped the glass of water in front of me to spill down all over the front of my skirt and half on my blouse. I gasped in shock and stood up from the table.

"What the hell?!" He quickly smirked and narrowed his eyes at me.

"And that's for lying to me. I despise liars."

I watched him walk away casually while leaving me standing in the middle of a busy restaurant with people sitting nearby already gawking at me. I clenched my fist tightly and stormed my way over to the washroom. I swear to god, if I ever see that jerk again I will kick him in the nuts so hard that he will regret meeting me today.

Jason's POV

"I'm breaking up with you."

Becca stared back at me with a clear confused expression on her face that I wasn't sure she was faking it just like the amazing award-winning celebrity actress she is.

"You're kidding right?" I shook my head once and pretend to check my watch.

"Look I have to go, I have a meeting in an hour." She chuckled out loud and placed her fork and knife slowly on the table.

"What? You're breaking up with me and now you're leaving for a stupid meeting?!"

I ignored her and signaled the waiter for the check and drank the last remains of wine left in my glass.

"Look, I had a great time with you Becca. But right now, I just need a break, that's all." She glared at me and moved her arm to the side and knocked her wine glass down on the floor where it shattered loudly and made the other people sitting around us to look in our direction.

"Bullshit! I know the real reason why you wanted to go out with me Jason and don't you dare deny it. So what? You finally got your revenge? You didn't actually like me, you just wanted to get back at my father's company because you didn't actually get what you wanted from him."

I forced a tight lipped smile on my face and fold my arms in front of me.

"You're right, it was for revenge. And I finally got what I wanted, so expect the guys from the federal bureau investigation by tomorrow morning at your father's office because apparently, someone has been dealing in the dark again."

Her eyes wavered and the waiter finally came to us and placed the check on our table while he slowly cleans up the mess on the floor. I reached for my wallet and placed a wad of cash on the table and stood up and left.

Finally. Thank god that is over.

I took the elevator down and when it stopped on the fifth floor I was surprised to see her again. The girl that I met in this very same elevator earlier. Somehow, something seems off with her now. There was a damp stain all over the front of her top and skirt and her hair was slovenlier than before and she looked kinda forlorn rather than the lively expression she had on earlier. The first thing that came into my mind when I saw her state now, is that she must've been in some sort of trouble earlier.

I let her walk out first, and slowly made my way out while my eyes are pinned to the way she was slowly walking with her head down and shoulders slumped. At first I was curious, now it's bugging me that I'm kinda attracted to her. She kept walking with her head down that she ended up walking into another woman and dropping her purse on the ground with its contents spewing out. I watched her apologized repeatedly to the woman and then bending down to get her things back in her purse and finally walking out of the building as if she can't stand to be here any longer.

Something glinting with the light on the floor, caught my eye. I slowly picked it up and realized it was a bracelet. A bracelet with a few charms and just two pretty silver initials hanging on it.

S & F.

It didn't take me long to realize that it was. And these were probably the first letters to her name. If I run now I could still catch up to her and return it, but I stopped myself before I could do so. I held up the bracelet and stared at it for about a minute long. It's not that I wanted to keep it to myself and never returned it. It's just that, I have a feeling I might see her again, and this time I'll return it for sure.
