Chapter one

Natalia

I could feel his burning death gaze upon me as I was being led away from my pack members by the guards he had brought with him. Our pack was beaten by the strongest Alpha and we all became captive. The only difference was that, we still stay in our pack but we submit to them like pups.

I couldn't be goaded into submission like a willing sheep being led to the slaughter house. So I put up a fairly good fight . I wasn't one who cowered down and allowed people to treat me like shit.

Unfortunately, I wasn't a match.

There’s no way I could go up against the trained warriors from the dreaded Devil Claw Wolfpack.

Rumor had it that death was a common factor in their training. The few who survived were counted warriors.

That was probably the reason they were undefeatable. It was rare for rogues to attack them since no sane rogue would dare go near their pack lands.

My father's pleas sounded loud like bells in my ears . But then, the devil incarnate who called himself a Beta that was acting in place of his Alpha wasn't willing to listen to him.

"I'm sorry but Natalia is still young. She has spoken out of turn and I would do my best to make sure that she never acts in such a manner again."

I heard my father, an Alpha, plead with a Beta. Such a pathetic thing to behold.

Alphas were known to be respected all over ,not only in their packs but also from other packs . However, in the case of Alpha Talon, my father, the reverse was the case.

I scoffed loudly at this thought and turned back to meet Beta Heimdall's deathly gaze . Raising my neck and standing in a regal way, I equally leveled my burning gaze at him. I was sure he hated my guts and I had to let him know I sure hated his balls.

For this, I had to put up a fair fight. I wouldn't let my pack members remember me as the Alpha's daughter who was spineless and had cowered fearfully at her captors.

Despite knowing I couldn't match the warriors, I made it difficult for them to move me away.

"Bundle her up and keep her in the tent. We move in an hour."Beta Heimdall announced from behind me in a chilly, dangerous growl that made everyone of my pack members sigh loudly.

None of them dared move a centimeter away from where they stood or spoke a word against what was happening.

The guards instantly obeyed him and soon, I felt myself being lifted from the ground and struggling against their strong grips.

I was carried away to one of the tents spread out on the open field which wasn't far from where my father stood pleading for his only daughter's life.

I looked at myself as I lay on the dirty floor of the tent . On weighing my current situation, I laughed at myself scornfully. Daughter of an alpha lying on a dirty floor. That did not make sense. Pushing myself from.the floor, I assumed the sitting position with my head resting on my tightly folded hands above my knees.

So much for being a tough cookie. A tough cookie who couldn't do anything to save herself but watch her father and pack reduced to slaves all because of a pack which felt entitled to others.

I felt someone's eyes on me and raised my head slowly to see the Beta who had reduced me to a slave stand at the door while two warriors stood on opposite sides of the door.

I could see them bow down in reverence to him while he stood off to one side, aloof with contempt and fury swirling in his eyes at me.

For a moment, fear clutched at me but knowing who I was and what I was capable of, I returned his laser gaze with equal contempt and fury in my eyes.

He seemed to be confused on why I wasn't whimpering or cowering in fear below him . It was odd. On finding no answer, he snickered scornfully at me and turned around.

I wouldn't let him have the last word or action so I returned his snicker with a loud mocking laughter followed by an equally loud hiss.

The Beta seemed to see red. He turned around suddenly and began to match angrily into the tent. The two warriors at the door had their head bowed in respect until he passed them and got into the tent.

I was ready for whatever way he wanted to unleash his fury. I didn't start crying or moving towards a corner in fear. Instead, I shot to my feet agilely and folded my hands across my chest in defiance.

Beta Heimdall stood before me ,towering well above me but I wasn't deterred. He stretched his hand and grabbed my neck roughly and spoke with clenched teeth.

"You seem to want to die. Who do you think you are? You are nothing but another thing in the tribute to my Alpha so you'd better behave yourself."

If I was choking, I didn't show it. Rather, my face crumpled up in an out of sorts laughter which made the Beta to furrowed his brows before releasing my neck suddenly.

He seemed confused as to why someone who was being held in a death grip wasn't showing fear. He pushed me out of his grip suddenly, making me stagger and fall on my knees.

As I struggled to my feet while wheezing and struggling for air, Beta Heimdall placed a booted foot on my back and applied pressure in order to make me stay down.

That very act went against my personal principle of staying down so I tried brushing his foot away in an attempt to rise. The more I struggled, the more he applied pressure.

After a few minutes, he seemed to remember his attention was needed elsewhere . With a thud, he pushed me with his foot ,making me hit the tarpaulin which the tent was covered with.

Without another word or look in my direction, he walked out of the tent. He got to the door and told the warriors to keep watch over me so I wouldn't play pranks on them.

He would never be so sure of himself. He never put into consideration that I've lived here all my life and knew even the tiniest pathway. He would without doubt be in shock in an hour when he decides to move.
