CHAPTER THREE: I can't be the father

CHAPTER THREE

Sheila was met with only a wicked smile from Richard as he turned to her and spoke. "Don't even think you can succeed with that little tricks you have because it can't convince me to remarry Sheila. I'm not naive. I used protection every time we made love, so there's no way you could be pregnant with my child except you cheated on me with someone. I suggest you leave before I lash out at you." Richard threatened his face darkened.

"Why would I lie about something like this? Here are the test results," Sheila retorted, handing over some papers to Richard.

Collecting the results, Richard tore them up and threw them in the trash. "You think you can collude with a doctor to forge fake pregnancy results for me?" Richard said pointing finger at Sheila.

"Did you just tear up the results?" Sheila asked in disbelief

"If you don't leave my sight right now, I'll tear you apart too," Richard threatened his voice horse and deep.

Ciara, who had been standing at the door, grinned mischievously, knowing she now had Richard all to herself since he doesn't seem to no longer trust on his ex wife Sheila.

"But Richard...." Shiela's words were caught in her throat as Richard glared at her.

"If the money isn't enough, you can request more instead of forging pregnancy test results. It doesn't seem fitting for someone of your caliber,"

"I'm no longer interested in the cheque you gave me, since my mother had already passed away. I don't want your money or anything else you have could since you can't accept responsibility for the pregnancy. But be reassure that since you denied this pregnancy, never in your wildest dream come near this baby. Lastly do me a favor of never crossing my path again, Mr. Richard, or else," Shiela said, opening her bag, throwing the cheque at Richard and storming out of the office furiously.

"What was that about? Why did she return the cheque?" Richard asked Ciara, bewildered by Shiela's actions.

"Just ignore her. It's clear she didn't succeed in her plan and resorted to this method," Ciara said, trying to reassure Richard.

Richard didn't even replied Ciara before storming out of the office to trail Sheila.

On getting to the road Sheila hailed a taxi to Skyblue mansion. On arriving at the mansion the Butler, security, and maids all noticed the sadness and anger etched onto her face which makes them exchanged whispers.

Without hesitation, Sheila packed her belongings and confidential documents, casting one last look at the room before leaving.

As she entered the living room, the maids stared at her in shock. Sheila had never taken a vacation since marrying Richard, who was rarely seen at home.

Sheila opened her mouth to speak, but hesitated before leaving without a word. She walked past the security and the Butler, before she came back and told them to inform Richard of her departure.

Their faces turned pale, but they remained silent, sensing that Sheila wanted to keep her reasons private.

Standing on the main expressway, Sheila appeared lost in thought, contemplating where to go quickly decided on heading to Barkley.

As the driver took off Sheila was alarmed by the driver's excessive speed and repeatedly shouted at him to slow down, but he ignored her pleas and continue speeding despite approaching the junction.

Suddenly, there was a loud crash as they collided with another car crossing the junction. Their car spun around three times before coming to a stop, with shattered glass and debris scattered everywhere. Although the other car was not severely damaged, the driver died on the spot.

Onlookers gathered around, but no one dared to approach Sheila's car, even though she was pleading for help from inside. Suddenly, a commanding voice ordered his guards to rescue her from the wreckage. It was none other than the number one wealthy businessman, Alexander Westwood.

As the guards finally rescued Sheila and the taxi driver, they were swiftly transported to the nearest hospital in a convoy of luxurious cars. Upon arrival, Sheila was rushed to the emergency section, but the doctor delivered the heartbreaking news that the driver had passed away, and Sheila was in a coma.

Alexander received a call and quickly left the hospital, but he left some guards behind to keep him informed of the situation.

Meanwhile, Alexander had gone back to the mansion and confirmed that Sheila had indeed left. He make calls and commanded his guards to search everywhere for her.

He was about to entered his car when father called, informing him meeting with Alexander Westwood, and he needed to bring his wife.

Frustrated, Richard kept dialing Sheila's phone number, but it kept sending him to voicemail. He only had twenty minutes left before the meeting, but he had not received any positive response on Sheila's whereabouts. He decided to call Ciara and asked her to be his date for the meeting after all they'll be married in few weeks time.

Richard and Ciara sat in the room they had booked, nervously waiting for Alexander Westwood. Suddenly, the door flung open, and four guards entered before an elderly man in his early sixties appeared.

Richard stood up from his chair and stretched out his hands for a shake, but Alexander only stared at him blankly.

"I didn't know you were married to George Henry's daughter, meaning your father had really kept a lot from me. I think I will have to call him after this meeting and question him," Alexander said, shocked to see Ciara is Richard's wife.

"It's not what..." Richard began to say but swallowed his remaining words.

"Don't worry, I know how to talk to him," Alexander said as he took Richard's hand for the shake, which Richard did reluctantly.

"You really know my father?" Ciara asked in suprise.

"I was your father's closest friend before I left for London. He was a very good friend of mine, and I know you like the back of my hand." Alexander replied as he gestured for the guards in the room to leave with his finger and shortly wines was brought by a waitress and they continued to chitchat about business.

As they were conversing, Alexander's phone rang, after answering the call, he smiled and said.

"Well I'm sorry for making this metting short, I have to attend to an important issue but before I go I have an offer for your wife which I don't know whether she'll be interested. I have opened a new Accessories company that I want your wife to take be the CEO" Alexander dropped the bombshell, shocking Richard who stared at him dumbfounded.

"Are you really listening, Richard?" Alexander called out to Richard, who was absent-minded.

"Yes, it will be a great development." Richard replied forcing a smile.

"Well, the profit will be share 50:50, so I want to hear feedback from your wife Ciara if she's ready or not?" Alexander said.

"Of course, I'm very ready," Ciara chipped in, causing Richard to glare at her.

"Sir Alexander, we'll get back to you. Thanks for the offer," Richard calmly said.

"Okay, I'll wait for your response. Again, I will be leaving for London in three days, so I need a response before then. I have to attend to something very important, so I have to call it a day now. I'll be waiting for your response," Alexander said as he stood up and headed to the door, leaving both Richard and Ciara expressionless.

Under normal circumstances, having just a 5% share in any of the Westwood businesses would make one an instant millionaire. However, this offer was beyond belief.

"We'll be filthy rich!" Ciara who contain her excitement shouted.

Richard's gaze was fixed on Ciara. "You and who?"

Ciara smiled. "Aren't I your fiancée? And since you're divorced, then that makes me the new CEO of Westwood Accessories."

Richard shook his head negatively. "It won't be easy as you think since my parents planned this meeting and they aren't aware of my divorce with Sheila"

Sheila couldn't hold back her anger. "Is it that you aren't bold enough to tell them that you are no longer together!"

Richard sighed. "It's not that simple. My mother loves her, and you know how she feels about you since that incident."

"I'm your future, Richard. You know how much I love to support you to grow. I won't back down easily. I'll even tell your parents about your divorce if you're too scared to do it yourself."

Before Richard could respond, his phone rang. He answered it immediately.

"Richard, I want you at the mansion in ten minutes." His father's voice boomed in anger through the phone before hanging up.
