INTRO~
She had more than enough and combined with her parent's wealth, spending money on unnecessary things was not strange to her.Rather, it had become a habit...Something she had to do daily.Stepping out of a hotel's main space and into the driveway, she beeped her Ferrari open, got into it, and drove off to her next destination. Her name was not something new.It was well known.Successful young ladies were not rare, but she was extraordinarily Successful.Very successful, she had everyone at her beck and call. She was...Janis Walter! ••••Janis's Ferrari pulled into a club almost on the outskirts of the city. It was a very popular club, and she was a regular there. As usual, the security left their posts by the doors of the club and rushed to her side.Janis handed her purse to a lady who ran to her out of habit, and she walked behind the bodyguards as they headed inside the clubhouse.Janis picked out the VIP seat as she had always done every time she came here and a bodyguard pulled out the chair for her to sit on, and only after she was seated did the lady earlier place Janis's purse on the table she was seated on and left together with the bodyguards.Janis smirked as she watched them leave and return to their posts. She was no stranger to these gestures, but they amused her all the time.Imagine being slaves for money...I mean, there was nothing Money couldn't do in this world! It gave her happiness. It was her everything. And she loved every bit of it!Suddenly, like she was in a movie, her countenance changed and she snapped her neck to the side and turned all serious."Hey."The bartender left his place behind the bar desk, tending to the drinks, and hurried to go answer her."The regular, right?""Yes, get me the regular." She replied without hesitation.Only when the bartender turned his back to go get her order did she change her mind?"Hey, wait."The bartender slowly turned to her."Yes, miss?""I'll get something different this time, but I don't know what. Give me a suggestion."Janis stared at the man."We have warm drinks, we have alcohol-free drinks, we have drinks with very high alcohol percentage, we..."Janis interrupted him."Get me a drink with very high alcohol. I'm so happy, I want to get tipsy.""But miss, you drove here..."Janis waved her hand in the air like she was clearing off the man's words."I'll just call a substitute driver."The bartender knew it better to agree than argue with her, so he just dropped it."Okay, if you say so.""Get me some snacks that'd go well with it as well," Janis ordered."Alright, I'll do just that." The bartender replied and left.Janis opened her purse zipper to bring out her phone. She made a quick phone call and texted quite a few times. In this club, she never danced. She only visited here often to throw her weight around and boss the people around here. She never felt bad for it at all. After all, it was all her money's magic. She couldn't care less. So, all she could do here was use her phone as a company. In less than three minutes, the bartender showed up again with her order.Paying respect to the drink, she dropped her phone back into her purse and started drinking and munching on the snack.Soon enough, she was tipsy as hell and felt drunk. So, she just dropped the bottle in her hand down and put her head on the table...."She's wasted.""Truly wasted. I told you, didn't I?""Indeed, you did. But, how did you know she'd be here?""You forgot I visit this bar frequently? I spotted her one time here and decided to keep tabs on her.""You did well, more so calling me at the right time.""Shall we seize this opportunity? There's no one watching us right now.""Of course."He picked up Janis's purse."This purse should cost quite a lot, why don't we take it?""Or we could take the diamond necklace instead. It definitely would cost more than the purse and everything in it.""That's a good idea too, But why not take the two? What's stopping us?"The man smirked."I agree. It's not like she'd remember anything since she's so drunk. And no one is likely to stop us, because out of habit... Our dear Miss Janis has chosen a rather dark spot like the other times.""Yes, and the music is loud too. Everything's favorable."The conversation ended as abruptly as it had started.Just as Janis was about to be robbed, a heavy hand landed on that of the guy who already laid his hands on Janis's neck and had his fingers on the necklace clasp."You're wrong. Not everything's favorable.""Who are you?""A designated driver. Probably hers." He answered simply."How dare an ordinary driver like you come to stop us?""Because I'm here to stop you both from robbing my client.""What?!""Rob?"The two thieves asked simultaneously."Yes. Rob." The stranger repeated."Is he trying to joke with us?" The second guy huffed and whispered into the first guy's ear."I'm not trying to joke here, but if you want to take it that way it's fine by me as well.""Is he drunk as well?""All I know is you're not laying a hand on my client's belonging, she has to pay me after I drive her to her destination.""Oh, he finally spoke up. He needs money." The second guy giggled."If it's money you want, we'll split the profit on a 90 - 10 percentage scale." The first guy bargained."I think you don't understand what I'm saying at all!" The guy who claimed to be a driver yelled over the loud music. In the shadows, The bartender saw three figures moving, and they were around Janis's table. This was exactly what he always feared. She always dressed too well, so well, she always stood out in the crowd, so it was no news if those people were trying to rob her.He could do nothing himself, so he went out for a bit and came back with security."What's going on here?" The bartender asked immediately he got to Janis's table with the security men."These two... They were trying to rob her."Hearing the strange man accuse both of them, the two had no choice but to turn on their heels to flee, but fortunately, the security men were faster."Who are your tender asked facing the other guy."Oh me? I'm just a designated driver. My client here called for a driver." The guy explained."So Janis ordered a driver before getting drunk. That explains why she threw all caution to the wind today." The bartender muttered to himself. He looked at Janis, and then at the guy whose face he couldn't see clearly because of the dim light."Alright. Take her home, I need to go hand over those thieves to the police.""I sure will." The guy answered and bent to pick Janis up.He couldn't carry her because she had quite some weight, so he just slung her hand around his neck and held her waist, walking her out. When they got outside, the security men stopped him."Who are you?""Jax Storms.""Where are you taking the miss?""Home.""Who are you to her?""Her designated driver.""Show me your ID.""What? ID? So I need an ID to take someone home?" He scoffed."Correction, she's not just 'someone', so you need an ID before taking her.""If you all were so concerned about her safety, why on earth did you leave such expensive items on her with no one by her side to look out for her?" Jax scoffed angrily."Because the miss doesn't get so drunk that she can't understand what's going on around her.""I see. But, she's still female, okay?"A security man stepped forward and hit Jax on his cheek."Never let the miss hear you saying that. No. You must never say such a thing, ever, you understand?""Why? It's not like she's Janis Walter, Okay?" Jax rolled his eyes at them.At that moment, Janis pushed her eyes open."I am Janis Walter." She muttered sleepily, before drifting off to sleep again.Jax looked at her and sneered."You wish."Jax looked up at the security men and saw them boring holes into his body."Don't tell me... She's really..."The security men nodded and Jax opened his mouth in surprise. No wonder why those men tried to steal from her. She had quite a lot.If he had known beforehand he'd have just allowed them to steal a little from her since they were poor and probably needed the money more than she did.He was no righteous person. He didn't believe in religious stuff so it'd have been a fair deal to have allowed those two to steal from this lady."But, they didn't look as poor as I'm imagining it in my mind right now. Well, whatever! It's not my business." He mumbled."Why are you here?""I mentioned it earlier." Jax snorted."I'm here to do my job.""And what's your job?" The security man asked, and Jax could swear he was doing it on purpose just to frustrate him."To drive cars, cars that belong to others for money, in the hope that someday, I'll buy mine.""Good. Now go do your job."Although Jax had convinced himself not to get involved in Janis's business, he couldn't help but think some more. From the way those men planned to rob Janis, it meant they had monitored her movements in the bar, and that meant she was a regular there. The security men confirmed it without even knowing as they spoke with him.'JANIS WALTER CONFIRMED TO BE A REGULAR AT POPULAR OUTSKIRT CLUBHOUSE.'If this got out, it'd be a hot topic for about a week or two. Just the title was interesting and would capture the eye of anyone. It was very tempting...... The urge to be the first to leak that!Hi dear readers :) This is my second book, and I really hope you'll give it a chance to captivate your hearts. I hope for your support through gems , reviews and comments too! ;)♡︎
Jax looked over at the lady once more as he got into her Ferrari.Janis woke up again."How did you get my keys? Are you a thief?" She questioned, still drunk as hell."You told me it was in your purse and gave me permission to take it out so I could drive you home earlier, don't you remember?" Jax explained to her, but she had slept off again. He could only sigh and start the engine. As he drove, he took care not to drive too fast or too rough as the person who turned out to be his client tonight was an important person and could have him thrown into jail without bail or even killed with just a snap of her fingers. There was another reason behind why he was driving with such care though. The car was so expensive, and of course, he had no money to pay for the repairs if it got scratched by mistake or something. His entire life savings didn't amount to even a quarter of the money the cost of this car which he had so mightily evaluated in his head."I heard some noises earlier."Janis wa
•~Two weeks later~•ꨄJANISꨄI flung my eyes open and got out of my bed in a hurry and into the bathroom as fast as I could. I bent over the sink and placed my mouth over it before releasing the liquid from my mouth into the sink.Turning the tap on, I watched as the clear almost see-through liquid poured out of the faucet, and washed away the disgusting one that came out from my body.I stared deeply in confusion at the water pooling in the sink and going out through the drain at the same time.I raised my head and immediately felt pain slash through my head. I felt a slight headache. Staring into the mirror that faced me, I realized soon what had just happened.I vomited.Wait...I vomited??!It wasn't like I was sick or anything.Thinking of the possible reasons that could have made me throw up so early in the morning, I found only one that seemed to match my recent activities.I became scared immediately. It couldn't be. It shouldn't be.My days of a carefree life would come to an a
_JANIS' POV_The air was tensed and heated up as my sister and I stared daggers at each other, our bloodshot glares scaring the wits out of all the other employees that would have dared to interfere. What the fuck is wrong with Stravis?I mean... who the hell gave her the authority to fire my workers without my fucking consent!?"Well, I am the owner of this company, the CEO!" I yelled at her, reminding her of the status I held in this company with a fiery blaze of indignation burning in my eyes.I am the CEO and Stravis has no fucking right to fire my workers without my knowledge, sister or no sister, I made her the manager of this company, so I have the supreme power here!"And I'm the one who runs things here! You don't even know half of what goes on here!!" Stravis yelled back at me, matching my enraged tone.Is Stravis nuts or something?!I matched up to her, my chest heaving with anger. The air became too tight to breathe in and silence like wildfire spread throughout the office
_JANIS' POV_I am fvcking pregnant, but how??!Who did I even sleep with!? How did this happen!?This was too confusing. My entire world was crumbling and I couldn't do anything."But how can I be pregnant? I always use protection and I don't remember having sex with anybody" my voice came as a whisper. "You are pregnant. The result is accurate" The doctor replied like he couldn't be questioned."Doctor, I can't be pregnant, please. I don't even know who the father is! I want an abortion. I can't keep this baby" I spoke almost crumbling into tears. The doctor accessed my features for a while before speaking. "You are too tense, okay? Go home, rest, and ponder over this with a clearer mind ok. If you still want the abortion then come back""Alright. Thank you" I heaved a heavy sigh before bolting up and hastily walking outside.I scurried towards my car and quickly pulled open the door, launching myself in."Take me home now" I instructed my assistant who ignited the engine in an insta
_Janis' POV_A redhead walked in with my assistant trailing beside him. His clothing was shabby and his red locks dangled carelessly over the crook of his neck. His brown eyes shone on seeing me as I matched his orbs with my formidable stare.Fuck, no!He isn't the one.The man who fucked me wasn't even red-haired!"Ma'am meet..." I didn't let my assistant complete the sentence as I hoisted my hand at him which cut him short."He isn't the one." I abruptly stated. My assistant got tongue-tied."B-but ma'am at least...""I said he isn't the one! Get me another!" I shot back at him rudely."Alright. Let's go, Micheal." He said to the red-haired who did nothing but nod and flash me a smile. My God! I know who I slept with and that redhead was not him.Though I have no vital information about him, the only thing I could only remember was his facial features and the fact that he had been the driver who drove me back from the club that night. These two weeks had turned out out a roller coa
_JANIS' POV_Suspense raided the air and a brief silence interluded the atmosphere. "Wow! Are you serious? That's good news. So, we are expecting a grandchild very soon?" A smile drew its initials on the lips of my mother as she stood up to embrace me, killing the silence with a bright look on her face. "Congratulations! I know he must be a well-to-do young man!!" Dad exclaimed, a beam saturated all over his face.Wow! What just happened? They didn't yell at me??!I stared at them in blank amazement, completely mortified by their cheerfulness.I was almost doubting if I was in the right house or at the wrong dining hall with people who aren't my parents. I expected more scolding and questioning from them.In my confused state, I forced out a smile and accepted every positive remark given to me by my parents, although I could sense that my sister was quite disconnected from the cheerful atmosphere. Luckily, they didn't ask me who the father of my child was, because if they mistakenly
