CHAPTER TWELVE: HIDDEN CARD

EMELIA'S POV

I wasn't embarrassed by what Mary said to me because I knew I deserved that. I shouldn't have uttered those hurtful words to her, especially when we’re in public. I really didn't plan on saying those hurtful words, but she’s the one who pushed me to my limit.

“Mummy,” I heard Jersey's voice as she ran into my arms.

Kira had been taking care of them. I walked closer to her and thanked her because I knew both of them are troublesome, so she would have gone through a lot. As I wanted to leave, she seemed to have something to say to me but wasn't able to, and I wondered why she decided not to.

We headed outside the hospital, and I hailed down a cab and headed home with the kids. Today has really been a long day. Since they said they weren't hungry and Kira had fed them, I decided to just give them a bath and then tuck them in.

I sang a lullaby for them as I watched them sleeping, and I chuckled as I saw Jersey smiling in her sleep, which meant that she must have had a blast to
