Chapter 11 Plump Feather Pillows

The Oriental Hotel where the Christmas party was being held bustled with Christmas cheer. It was Petrov's annual Christmas party and everything looked like it was from a postcard, a very fancy Christmas postcard. I was sitting on one of the barstools at the bar with some of the executives from the company, enduring a boring conversation.

The room was swilling with excitement. For this year's festivities, the party planner had included a live band. It was a time to let loose and forget about all things work-related. I on the other hand was doing anything but letting loose.

It had been seven months, two weeks, and a few hours. I was not interested in what was happening at the dance floor and even less interested in the conversation I could not concentrate on. I nodded to the gentleman at the bar and left to take a seat at the far side of the room and watched as the employees of Petrov Ltd blew my money.
