Lexie’s POV
My alarm beeps waking me to a new day and hopefully the start of a new career. As I get ready I make sure to take extra time on my appearance wanting to make a good first impression. After seeing the woman at the Country Club yesterday I knew I needed to step up my game so instead of my normal light makeup I went heavier with the eye makeup and my hazel eyes now looked more dominate on the green side making them look catlike. My hair was a chore in itself and I know now why I never took the time before to curl it out in waves. Thankfully I set my alarm for two hours in advance of the time we needed to leave and as I pulled on the stockings that Emily had left for me to go with her pumps, which were more like stilettos, I could see the whole look I was going for coming together. Looking in the mirror after sliding my feet into the stilettos, I didn’t recognize the girl looking back at me. The dress hugged my figure leaving none of my curves to the imagination and the stilettos added height and made my legs look like they went on forever. If I don’t get the job offered to me today, I know it wasn’t because of my appearance. Taking the stairs one by one so that I don’t fall in these shoes and break my leg I see Emily in the kitchen drinking a cup of coffee and eating a slice of toast. She looks up towards me as I came to the bottom of the stairs and the toast fell from her hands and onto her plate as her mouth hung low. “Is it too much?” I asked her, seeing her reaction. “Who are you and where is my best friend?” She jokingly asked. “I can clean up you know.” I said to her teasingly. “Ah yeah.” She said still in shock. The door to our side of the house opened and in walked Tyler who thankfully was letting me ride to work with him today. He was looking at something on his phone as he walked to the kitchen and Emily asks him, “Coffee Tyler?” He looks up at her to answer her question, but his eyes immediately move to me and I swear they darken a few shades making them almost look black. He stood just staring at me like I was on the breakfast menu and I found myself holding my breath not wanting to move from his gaze. Then Emily appears between us and blocks him from looking at me and I find myself taking in a much needed breath. When I finally regulated my breathing, I heard Emily ask, “Are you sure you don’t want me to take her?” I heard then Tyler growl at her saying, “I am fine.” Peaking around Emily I see Tyler standing in front of her with his hands balled into fist and I wonder what is going on. “Tyler.” I say in a soft voice. His eyes move to me, and Emily turns to look at me. “Are we ready to go?” I ask him now having his attention back on me. “Yes.” He finally says as I walk towards him and Emily steps aside. “Lexie, call me if you need anything.” Emily says to me, as I step next to Tyler. “I will. Wish me luck.” I tell her and then Tyler placed his hand on the small of my back and lead me out of the house and to his car, opening the door for me to step in. Once we were on our way, I looked over at Tyler who’s jaw once again was twitching. “Do you not like the dress?” I ask him. His jaw twitched even faster and I thought he wasn’t going to answer the question but then he finally says, “A little too much.” I waited for more, but this was Tyler, and I was always only getting short answers from him, that I always found myself reading between the lines. “Do you think your boss will like it?” I now asked him, self-conscious of the dress now with his and Emily’s reaction. “My boss?” He asks like he is confused. “Yes, your boss. Emily said the position that I was applying for was for the owner’s personal assistant.” I tell him and he chuckles, and I wonder what is so funny. “I am sure he will think the same as me.” Tyler finally says and I wonder if that is a good thing or a bad thing. The rest of the drive was in silence and I could feel Tyler’s eyes on me here and there throughout the drive, but I kept my eye glued out the window taking in the scenery and trying to take note of the direction he was driving in just in case I was able to afford a car in the future. I started to get confused when we entered the city as Tyler took right and lefts going down one-way streets until he came upon a tall twenty-five story building that read TEC Corporation. Tyler pulled in front of the building and a valet came to the car and opened the doors for us. “Good morning Mr. Cooper. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.” The valet said to him and Tyler smiles at him and said, “An interesting one.” The valet attendant chuckles and gets in the car and takes off towards what looks like an underground parking lot. Tyler comes to me and places his hand once again at the small of my back and leads me into the building. His phone then goes off in his pocket and he pulls it out. He looks at me before he answers it and says, “Twenty fifth floor and tell Connie the receptionist that you are here for your interview.” And then he turns and answers his phone. My heels clicked on the shiny marble floor as I make my way to the elevators among other men and women who look like they were rushing to get to their jobs on time. I waited my turn to enter one of the elevators and took a minute to look around the massive lobby. Windows surround the outskirts of the lobby from floor to ceiling letting in the maximum amount of light and the walls were all painted in a light grey almost white color. The marble floors were white with a touch of different shades of grey in them. The overall appearance gave the place a bright and inviting feel to it. The elevator dinged and it was my turn to enter and the man by the numbers asked me which floor and I told him the twenty fifth. He looked at me for a few seconds before he hit the button labeled twenty-five. Floor by floor the elevator emptied till I was the last one occupying it. I took a moment and looked in the elevator mirror to make sure my makeup and hair looked okay before the doors open. Finally, the elevator made it to my floor and when the doors open, I stepped out and was greeted right away by the receptionist. “Can I help you?” The woman asked and I believe this is Connie the one Tyler told me to tell I was here for the interview. “Lexie Thomas. I have a nine am interview.” I tell her as I stand in front of her desk. “Yes. I see you in the books for nine am. Please take a seat till he is ready for you.” She said as she pointed to the designer chairs off to the side. Walking over to take a seat I looked around the room and everything was clean and modern. I started to wonder how I ever landed an interview here just graduating college and realized that Tyler must have pulled some strings to get me this interview. As I waited, I pulled out my copy of my resume I brought just in case they asked me for one again and started to look over it making sure I had everything. While I was looking over my papers in front of me, I heard the elevator ding but paid no attention to who got off until I heard Connie say, “Mr. Conner your 9am is here.” My head turned to look to see if I had heard her right. Standing in front of the desk looking my way was Tyler, “Miss Thomas.”Tyler’s POV The look on Lexie’s face told me that I was in for an earful but a part of me was dying to see her mad. The sweet innocent Lexie has been the torment of my existence and I have never hungered for someone like I do her. It has taken every ounce of my self control from making her mine and that dress she is wearing is leaving nothing to my imagination. Being away from her for the last eight years I thought I would have been over her but the moment she stepped out of that taxi the fire that once burned for her ignited into a blaze of hungry fury. I had told Emily that I would hire Lexie because I knew once the vultures smelled her innocence that they would make her one of their slaves and Lexie deserved so much more than that. Chase was a prime example of what was in store for her if I didn’t keep her under my wing and safe from the underground activities that happen in our city. Why my sister insisted on letting Lexie come here to live is beyond me. The past two months
Lexie’s POV Looking out the window in my new office I couldn’t believe what transpired today. I was in shock and in pure disbelief that Tyler owned this company and that I agreed to work for him. I wondered if I was in over my head agreeing to work for him. Emily had kept crucial information from me about this job, especially leaving the part out that Tyler owned the company. When did this even happen? Never once in the conversations that we have had over the years did she tell me that Tyler had made it this successful. She only told me he was doing very well for himself here. I thought maybe that meant he was an executor or something of a sort, not that he was the owner and boss. My mind went back to this morning and how he reacted when he saw me for the first time today in this dress and how he looked like he couldn’t contain himself. There obviously was an attraction between the two of us but why was he fighting it? Was it because I wasn’t good enough for him? Even though he tol
Tyler’s POV As soon as Lexie left the room, I lost all control and as I cleared my desk with one swipe of my hand. Organized papers and documents went flying across my office and I watched as they fluttered to the floor. “Shit.” I said to myself. My self-control around Lexie was starting to diminish and I was scared that I may hurt her. The look on her face and the fear that showed in her eyes as I grabbed her arm was unsettling and I hated myself knowing that I caused that fear. How the hell was this ever going to work having her so close to me all the time. The undying hunger within me began to throb and I knew I needed a fix soon before I lose all self-control with Lexie. Quickly I pulled my cell phone out and place the call. I left the other person on the other end of the line know I needed someone sent to my office stat, because this couldn’t wait till tonight. My body needed its fix now if I was ever going to be able to ride in an enclosed car with Lexie on the way home.
Lexie’s POV Sitting at my desk I began to prepare the documents that Connie had given to me for tomorrows in house meeting and I sent them over to the printer so that I can prepare the packets needed. Looking down at my arm I touched the spot where Tyler hand had grabbed my arm. It didn’t hurt but it felt like I could still feel his hand on me, and I thought that it had to be a figment of my imagination. Did I desire him that much that I was hallucinating that I could still feel his hand around my arm? The printer was done printing and I stood at my desk putting the packets together when my phone rang and I answered it, “Hello.” “Hey girlfriend. If you don’t care I’d like to pick you up after work and show you around the city.” Emily says on the other end of the line, and I know that Tyler had probably called her after the incident and didn’t want to drive me home. “You don’t have to.” I start to tell her, but she stops me and says, “I insist. Plus, I have been so wanting to check
Lexie’s POV “Chase.” I say in shock as he stands in front of me. What was the chances of this happening? “I see you haven’t forgotten my name which leads me to believe that you are here to see me.” He says with a big smile showing all his perfect white teeth. “Yes, I mean no. I’m here for an interview.” I tell him and he gets a confused look on his face. “I thought you were Tyler’s girl.” He now says and something in my breaks. “Not anymore.” I say without thinking because the hurt that I feel from what I just witnessed is killing me. “Well then you came to the right place. Let me escort you to your meeting.” Chase says as he walks back into the elevator and holds the door for me to enter. After I enter the elevator he asks, “Which floor did they tell you?” “Twenty second.” I tell him and he pushes the button. As the elevator went up, I took a moment to take a good look at Chase. He was beyond sexy looking in his suit and his hair was gelled back more today for a crisper look
Lexie’s POV After calling Emily and pulling myself together I returned to the room and Chase not wanting him to know anything was wrong with me. I needed the job he was offering me and I was going to put a smile on my face and endure this until Emily shows up to get me. I didn’t go into details with her on the phone but I gave her what information she needed to know. Chase stood as soon as I entered the room and pulled my chair out for me to sit. “Everything okay?” he asked as he pushed my chair in. Brushing my hair behind my ear with the tips of my fingers I say, “Yes, I just needed to freshen up.” “I was beginning to worry you left me to go after Tyler.” Chase confesses and I turn to look at him while he takes his seat. “No. He had his chance.” I tell Chase and I can see a slight grin forming at the corners of his lips. “I can only hope that you give me the same chance that you gave him. I will be sure not to make the same mistakes he did.” Chase says to me and I feel a smidge
Tyler’s POV Lexie was going to drive me mad. When she said she wanted to be that red head in my office today I wanted to bend her over that dining table and screw her in front of all my kind and have her scream my name for them all to hear as I took her virgin pussy. Then I would have marked her as mine so that there was no confusion on who she belonged to. But I couldn’t do it. Fuck, I want her so bad but there’s something inside of me that makes me want to protect her virtue. That something inside of me is going to be the death of me if I keep letting her get to me. And tonight, when she pointed her finger to my chest, I would have normally ripped that damn finger off anyone else’s hand but hers. Then the hunger hit me ten times worse than earlier today when she said, “Be with her.” She had verbally said she wanted me in not so many words. I had to leave at that moment or I was definitely not going to be able to contain myself from giving her what she wanted and so much more t
Lexie’s POV Why do I drink? I thought to myself as my head is pounding from all the wine I consumed last night. Between what I drank at the meeting at the restaurant and what Emily and I drank last night scheming a master plan to win me her brother, Tyler, was more than enough wine to do me a lifetime. Forcing myself to crawl out of bed I headed for the shower to wash the filth off me and to brush my teeth a hundred times trying to remove this taste out of my mouth. What the hell had I eaten to make my breath smell this bad? After I finished getting ready, I headed down the stairs to the smell of fresh coffee. Emily was bopping around the kitchen like she was not affected by last night’s drinking fest. How was this even possible? “Coffee?” Emily asked, holding the pot up in the air. “Yes, please.” I said as I crawled onto one of the bar stools at the island and I laid my head down onto the
