CHAPTER 16

Verania's Point of View

"Are your questions done?" Alder asked in a gentle voice.

I turned my eyes back to him, and I almost melted as our gazes met. His eyes were on fire. I couldn't tell if he was annoyed, angry, or what. I just couldn't understand. I was lost for a moment, then I heard the door swing open.

I was the first to look away to see if it was Ares who came out. My suspicion was correct because when I shifted my gaze to him, our eyes immediately locked. His eyes were innocent, but after seeing who I was with, they turned cold. I couldn't understand, but ever since he and Alder first met on the day we came here together, I could feel a different tension between them.

I don't know what it is, but because I'm curious, I want to know what it is.

"Verania, let's leave. It's time for my check-up," Ares casually stated, so I had no choice but to leave my seat and go to his side.

"Uh, Alder. We'll go ahead," I said, and he looked at me and nodded, so Ares and I left immediately. I
