EVELYN

Nolan.

I could still taste him in my mouth.

The kiss was surprisingly pleasant and I am angry at myself for not hating it fully. Why did I kiss him back? I should've kicked him to the curbs and let him taste my wrath but instead, I let him claim my mouth.

Maybe I was more drunk than I thought I was. Oh well, I should just forget about it.

One week later, my family arranged a picnic like they do every year around this time. Most of the time, it's at the lake where they bought a beach house. It wasn't anything formal. Just me, my parents and some close family members. Which means Jessica would be there and I'd have the chance to interrogate her about Nolan. What the fuck was she thinking hanging out with that douche?

Whatever, there was no point in regretting things now.

In the morning, I put on my bathing suit under my summer dress and headed to the lake.

"Evelyn! Sweetheart. Glad you are here. You can help me with the set up," my chirped as I walked toward the picnic table.
