Chapter 12 - My First Kiss

I woke up the next day feeling sick to the stomach; my head felt like it was going to explode.

As I got out of bed and made my way downstairs, I noticed the sun shining brightly, despite my terrible state. To my surprise, my parents had already returned from their trip.

"Wow, look who decided to join us," my mom remarked. "I thought you were going to sleep forever," she added.

Sighing, I asked, "What are you talking about?" I hurried past her into the kitchen, replying after taking a sip of cold water, "I didn't know you guys were back."

"Well, with the way you were sleeping, it would be difficult to know even if someone kidnapped you in your sleep," my father commented from the sofa.

"Oh, come on, dad. That will never happen," I replied dismissively.

He responded with a noncommittal, "Hmmm."
