Chapter 16

It was hard to focus on chores when my head was entirely filled with Damien. The way he pressed his lips against mine so delicately, the soft way he sighed after, and the dreamy look in his eyes. When we finally pulled away from each other, he turned away quickly.

"I should get back to work," he said while clearing his throat. He shifted uncomfortably in his chair while avoiding eye contact with me and did so until I left the apartment.

I bit my bottom lip and daydreamed about being in Damien's arms all day. I was so caught up in my own fantasies that I hadn't noticed I was hugging a carton of eggs like my life depended on it, cracking a few in the process. I gasped and looked down at the mess I made.
