"Mum! I want that."
I stared at my four-year-old son. He had been pointing to everything he sees He wanted everything. At first, he wanted the plane we boarded, which made me laugh and he was so curious as to why I was laughing. Then he wanted the chairs at the airport but now he was pointing to a bag someone was holding.
"Sorry, sweetie. You can't have that," I responded. That had been my response to all of his needs. And I knew what was coming after my response, so I smile ahead.
"Why?" he looked so cute, curious and confused as if he couldn't understand why he can't have a bag that doesn't belong to us.
"You can't have it because it does not belong to mummy. It belongs to someone else." he pouted and it melts my heart.
"Then why can't we buy it," he said.
We were waiting for our bags, so I pulled him closer to the baggage reclaim area. "We will buy ours once we get home." That seems to reassure him and he was quiet for a while.
I got our bags and moved to the taxi area.
The moment the taxi moved, I couldn't help but think that the area was the same as it was five years ago. There weren't a lot of changes in the city. The road was as bad as it had always been, and the city was as busy as always. I inhaled. I miss home and I was glad to be back after years of being away. I was glad to be back with my son. This was his first time in Arnold city.
The car drove past my old neighbourhood. I turned my gaze away from it not wanting to be reminded of my past. The neighbourhood for the poor. I was not the girl I used to be and refused to look back at a past I wanted nothing more than to forget.
"Mummy, you are crying. Did someone hurt you?"
Dean was sitting on my leg trying to wipe the tears off my face. I guess I am not as healed as I thought. I had thought coming back home wouldn't have any effect on me but just a look at my old neighbourhood brought with it tears. I wiped the tears off my face, "I am fine, sweetie. Something got in my eyes."
Dean nodded but then he saw something else that got his attention. He tapped me and pointed to a beautiful home. The type I wouldn't have dreamed of coming close to in the past. "Mummy, I want that."
I smiled, "Well, lucky you boy because it's ours."
The car stopped in front of the house and I pulled Dean out while the driver helped us with our luggage. I stopped to admire the mansion I now called house. It was huge with a water fountain visible from the gate. I turned to glance at the neighbourhood where only the wealthy reside and took a deep breath. My son and I would live in this kind of environment and we would be treated with respect.
I felt a tug on my gown, "Are we going in mum?"
I nodded and pulled out the remote to control the gate. Looking at the house now, it was more beautiful than I had imagined it to be. Dean was already running inside and that brought a smile to my face. The interior was huge and I felt another lone tear drop from my face. I wished my parents could see this. I am finally realising their dreams but they were not here to witness it. This was more than they could dream of.
"Mummy. Mummy, where is my room?"
I heard Dean's echo and I smiled as I dragged the bag into the vacant room. "Where do you want, sweetie?"
I already knew the room he was going to pick because I asked the agent to help me decorate a room suitable for a four-year-old. The moment I opened the door to the room, I saw Dean jumping on the bed and throwing toys up and down. He was already feeling at home. When he saw me, he ran to hug me. "Mum, let's live here. I like this place."
For some reason, another tear dropped off my eyes, "Sweetie, this is our new home. We are going to be living here now."
I thought he would smile but he frowned, "What about Emily?"
Emily was my friend. The only one I could rely on then. "Emily will come over soon, don't worry." That brought the wide smile back to his face while he went back to his jumping up and down on his bed.
I started arranging our clothes and important stuff around. When I was done, it was evening and we didn't have any groceries so we went shopping. Thankfully, the mall was close to the apartment. Since I haven't gotten a new car yet we walked to the mall.
Dean wanted everything in the mall. So, ended up buying a bunch of things we might not need, just to satisfy him. I was about to go make a payment when I saw one of the bitch who used to call herself my friend. I pulled Dean close to me and dragged him to the cashier.
He tried pushing my hands away, "What's wrong mummy? You are hurting me."
I knelt beside him trying to stop him from crying, "I am sorry dear. Mummy did not mean to hurt you. " Pulling his face closer and hugging him.
"Naomi." A familiar voice said and I looked back to see Sandy staring at me as if I had just come back from the grave. She hadn't change that much and still maintains her model shape and obviously her expensive lifestyle.
Her eyes moved to Dean and I wished I had hidden him behind never. "Who is he?"
"No one." I bite my lips and pushed Dean behind me. "Excuse me."
I picked up the bags in haste and dragged Dean out with me. I could feel Sandy's gaze on us.
Four words. Four words were all it took for me to come sober. Four words were all it took for me to focus my attention on something else rather than alcohol. Four words I never thought I would get to hear. Four words that could completely change my life."Naomi Wells is back."Naomi Wells. I never thought I was going to hear her name again. She left Arnold City five years ago and I had always thought there was no way she would come back here but according to rumour, she was back. The blonde sitting on my leg wriggled her ass on my dick but that did not get my attention. All my thoughts were on Naomi. Why was she back here? When did she come back? Where was she staying? Why didn't I know she was coming back? You know the answer to the last question. The reason I had no idea she was coming was that I was her heartbreaker. I was the reason she left five years ago. Although, I thought I was doing the right thing then. I thought she deserves to be cast away. I thought she deserved to be
Naomi's P.O.VSettling down wasn't as easy as I expected. I enrolled Dean in one of the best schools and I picked a room in my house to be my office. Yes, I worked from home. I was a writer and freelancer. My gift for writing had always been with me since when I was little but I couldn't utilise it. That didn't stop me from reading a lot and jotting down on paper. When I was with my ex-husband, I was not expected to go out or do anything. My only duty was to warm his bed whenever he pleases. I was mostly bored doing nothing. The maids took care of cleaning the house and also preparing food. Most of my time was spent in the library, and it was a big library with varieties of books. It was the only thing I missed in the house. After reading lots of books, I decided to start writing mine one day. I wrote a lot of fan fiction for books I didn't like the ending and I also change the life of characters that I think deserved better. From writing fan fiction, I switched to writing original s
Derrick's POVShe shut the door in my face. Naomi fucking shut the door on my face. It was so hard to believe. I stood outside the door for ten minutes before driving back home. My sister, Diana sat on a chair blowing out bubbles from her gum. Without giving a second glance, I moved to the bar and poured myself a drink. I drank all at once and pour another. Naomi who wouldn't dare to look me in the face twice shut the door to my face. It seemed unbelievable. The drink was hot and cool my nerves a bit. Yes, I was expecting her to be aggressive but I wasn't expecting her to shut the freaking door on my face. It's been five years since she last saw me. I was expecting her to welcome me and maybe have a decent conversation. Then I can start persuading her to marry me back. I already did my investigation immediately after she came back and I know for certain that she was not married. "Bro, calm down. Are you trying to get yourself drunk?" Diana said. I raised my brow and they were tw
Naomi's POVWhen I heard the knock on my door early in the morning. I had a bad feeling about it. What could be so urgent that would make anyone knock on my door? Plus, I haven't started making friends yet. The friends I left here five years ago don't count. They were wolves in sheep's clothes. My eyes were puffy from the lack of sleep last night. I had to stay awake to update my books for my fans. I hate missing the deadlines I set for myself. The knock came again making me grumble while standing from my bed. This was my those extremely rich people have maids. Maybe I might also end up employing one or two help. The workload was too much for me. Immediately I opened the door, I almost shut it back but Ricky placed his leg on the door. Plus, I had a lot of respect for him. He was there for me when my so-called husband abandoned me. Not that he had always been there for me. "Good morning, Nao. Sorry to wake you up," he flashed me a smile which I couldn't help but retu
Derrick's POV"Mummy, who is this?" Immediately I heard the voice, I turned to look where it was coming from. A cute little boy walked in rubbing his face like he just woke up from sleep. Naomi jumped up from her chair to face the boy. It was the fastest I have ever seen her jumping. It was as if her seat was on fire. She tried to cover him with her figure, not that I am complaining because she has a nice figure. One that I have missed so badly, and would love to have my hands all over sooner than later. She mumbled something to the boy not wanting me in their conversation. First, I was pissed off but then I remember I was still trying to get her to forgive me. So, I was quiet. The little boy grumbled before moving back to the direction he was coming from without looking back. She tried pulling her clothes down properly and let out a relieved sigh. I was no fool, so I know something was off, and that something had to do with the boy that just left. Immediately she sat down, sh
Naomi's POVChapter SevenI shut the door and rested on it. The only words ringing in my ears are, you are always in my dreams. How could he say that to me? How could he try to make me feel as if I was important to him? Like he missed me? I knew what he was trying to do. He was trying to play games to get me back in his bed, treat me like trash and dispose of me whenever he was tired of having me. But, I won't give him the satisfaction of that. Dean moved closer to me. "Mummy, are you okay?'I nodded, pulling him closer to me. He hugged me quietly and I thank God he was in my life. He was the only thing I got out of my marriage to Derrick that gives me joy and that was why I am hiding him from anyone that would see the resemblance he had with the Boone. Honestly, I am surprised Derrick was unable to identify him soon but it's all for my benefit. After soaking him in for a few minutes, Dean got tired of hugging me, so he released himself from me. " Mummy, should we call Emily?"He di
Chapter Eight Derrick's POV"What do you think children like?"Diana paused the movie she was watching on Netflix to stare at me. She stared too long that I had no option but to ask her what was wrong. "What did you just ask me?"I sighed, she knew I hate repeating myself and that was exactly what she wanted me to do. Repeat what I just said. If it wasn't so important to me, I would have ignored her to do something else but I needed to know this so that I can capture Naomi's son's heart. Then I can finally capture Naomi's heart too, which is the only thing I can think of. It's not that I love her, I am just addicted to her maybe because we have once been married. All I know was I want her back and I was going to do everything I can to have her back even if I have to repeat myself to my dumb sister. "I said, what do you think children like?" this time I glared at her indicating that I won't repeat myself anymore. She smiled, "Why do you want to know that? Why do you think I w
Naomi's POV"Who are you?" Emily's voice was loud. I ran out of my study room to the door. Dean was hot behind me trying to be the man of the house. I found it funny and cute whenever he acts that way. "What's wrong Emily?" Her back was turned to me and she was blocking whoever was at the other side of the door. The way she placed her on her hips showed that she was having a heated argument with whoever it was at the other side of the door. It was Dean that finally got her attention. She allowed Dean to stand beside her while ignoring my question. That did nothing but raise my curiosity. Who can be annoying Emily already on her first day?"What are you doing in our house?" I heard Dean's question and I know that I already knew who was by the door. I smiled. My avengers were fighting for me. "Can I come in first and where is Naomi? I would prefer speaking to her than to some stranger." Derrick's voice was harsh. I could easily tell that he was angry but for some reason. That ma
