Exactly nine o’clock Rex’s door opened and Susanna stepped out cat walking boldly till she got closer to Cherry’s desk, her hair was sticking out everywhere like she got attacked by a tiger and her lipstick smeared all over her lips, it was evident they did something really nasty behind those doors. Cherry cringed at the thought but was glad the walls were thick enough to block out the unholy noise coming from them, there was still an unexplainable pang and pain stinging her chest and Cherry was really mad about the feeling.
‘Why do I feel this way’ Cherry ask herself as she watched Susanna exit the hallway into the elevator with one victorious smile across her lips. Su
Cherry speed walked away from the G stark company fearing Rex would meet up with her. Her breaths came in pants as she walked faster home, not only because of Rex but her safety too. This only path to her apartment building was usually full of scary homeless people or robbers and Cherry did not wish to be robbed or assaulted, today she was poor in cash so she had to walk home and use her saving tomorrow. She quickens her pace when the hairs on her neck rose up, bringing fear and uncertainty to her. At last, her building came into view and she jogged all the way till she was inside. The clerk was not at his desk and no other person in the hallway aside her ‘a bit awkward’ Cherry jogged up the stairs, walking to her apartment door and unlocked it. “Home sweet home.” She whispered and let out a relieved sigh as she entered the comfort of her own tiny apartment. An eager bark came from the bedroom and startled Cherry. “Dolly?” She called out unsure of who to call aside h
Rex sat uneasy and nervous in his car memorizing every line he was going to say when he sees Cherry. For each line he stuttered terribly making him reconsider his decision to apologize. Still having the determination to make things right between them he kept practicing. “Cherry, urr- you forgot your handkerchief. No darn it, that sounds cheesy.” He sighed annoyed and upset with himself. A few minutes after Cherry left the company, Rex could not rest or go home because his guts told him to follow Cherry ‘and do what?’ He had no idea, and now he was seating quietly in his car like a creep trying to cram numerous words he would use that he hoped not to upset Cherry. “Cherry, look I am your boss and I got to check on you. Gosh I sound like a fool. I think this was a bad idea. So far, I have managed to make myself look stupid before seeing her. I wonder how much of a fool I would make of myself.” Rex argued with himself for a while before lowering the car window
Jerry sighed as if thinking of strategies on how to explain to Rex what really is Cherry’s condition which won’t result in a fire outbreak at the hospital. He needed to be tactical or Rex would put all the hit on him. What he didn’t understand was why would Rex Angelo put his reputation at stake for an ordinary girl and why did he want her out of danger? “The truth here is that there might be a fifty percent chance she might wake up and a fifty percent chance she might go into coma.” He pursed his lip. “And if she recovers normally as we hope and she wakes up there might be some slight complications with her health or just the injury.” “What sort of complications?” Rex demanded without sitting on the chair. He wanted fast answers and assurance Cherry would be better “My predictions and analysis say she might suffer severe head trauma and if that occurs she would have to be placed into a temporary coma to prevent other major crisis or worse death.” “Sp
“Rex wait up.” Maria called and ran after her friend, before the elevators closed fully, Maria squeezed through quickly and easily but Rex wasn't pleased with it. He wanted to leave the building alone and without questions from anyone or Maria. He knew Maria like the back of his hand, she could be a lot to handle and difficult to avoid when she is determined to get something from anyone. “What happened Rex? Is everything alright?” Maria looked at him worriedly. “Yes it is.” Rex replied tightly and kept his face straight looking ahead, but Maria wasn’t convinced she knew something was wrong and he wasn’t ready to tell. “Why are you in a hurry? What’s the rush? Where are you heading to?” She bombarded him with question upon question expecting an answer from him. “Why are you policing me about” I told you before it’s nothing. There is something I have to sort out that’s all.” He answered and prayed this elevator would just reach the ground floor on time.
“Mr Angelo, don’t get too defensive. You brought in a patient badly injured. We cannot let this slip because we are guided by laws too. I need more details about the whole incidence, if possible the exact reason she had that gash, this would help us know what to do.” Jerry told Rex. “Like what? Jerry is this a joke? What do expect me to tell you?” Rex asked, his tone sounding bored and slightly aggressive. “Can you start from where and how you found her.” Jerry began and Rex was quiet. His eyes roamed the room aimlessly because he had nothing to say and how to begin. Rex couldn’t tell Jerry he stalked Cherry after the little misunderstanding between them. Saying that will not only ruin his ego and image but cause bad rumors and hot news around the hospital. With years of constructing and studying the hospital’s facility Rex knew every nurse employed were gossips, they never like to mind their own business. “She works for me. I wanted to return one of
Rex soon got tired and had passed out sitting on a chair and resting his head on the side of the bed Cherry laid. Into his deep sleep he thought something was playing with his head. Instead of shaking it off, Rex stayed put, enjoying the hand playing with his hair. The comfort was intensively nice and pleasing that Rex leaned closer and turned his head in the direction he wanted the hand to touch. ‘Go on Susie’he whispers in his mind but then froze as reality dawns on him. ‘Wait Susie?’ Rex immediately snap his eyes open and he jerks up from the chair he sat. Fright confusion and joy messed up his emotions, Rex had to look around the room in distress for the sly witch haunting his dreams before realizing it was all in his head and this was Cherry’s bed. Rex looked down at Cherry, she was asleep and unconsciously running her hand on the sheets beside her which was the spot he jerked from. Rex almost cussed out and slapped himself, it was Cherry
“Don’t cry Cherry… I am here for you… I am sure there is a solution to this.” Rex tries to calm her but was unsure if he should wrap her in his arms like he always dreamed of or tap her shoulder in comfort. “I can’t see a single thing! What am I going to do?” Cherry panicked and tried searching around aimlessly. “Calm down Cherry there is no way you are blind.” Rex spoke with confidence despite his heart raced with fear and doubt. “CALM DOWN! CALM DOWN? I CAN’T CALM DOWN LIKE THIS!” She yells at him without an ounce of fear or regret. “Stop over thinking this Cherry. Just calm down and listen to me, your fear is causing you to hallucinate.” Rex ignored her snappish attitude and tried reasoning with her. “I am freaking out right now, everything is black Mr Angelo!” Cherry answered more calmly but her hands shook and Rex took them in his warm ones. “I know everything is dark, but you need to be reasonable with me… tell me, what can’t you
“She will be staying here until she recovers.” Rex spoke from a corner. “I can’t say anything about that but you two will have to sort that out.” Kyle said and packed up his briefcase to leave with Jerry before he gets dragged into their fight. No one wants to get involved in their “So I have to stay with him!” Cherry yelled in terror. “It’s not the case-” Jerry started but was cut off by Rex. “You are free to leave Jerry.” Rex waved them off so can let him and Cherry be alone. Rex has been quiet since Jerry jumped into he and Cherry’s child fight, he observed the young doctor was calculating his next words before he stopped him. Despite the odds, Rex was aware and knew the stubborn girl would refuse to live with him instead she will be adamant on staying in that tiny crappy unclean carton she called home. "The conclusion is that you have a temporary eye defect and you might recover on time or not." Rex sassed and she glare at him. Rex was wro
