Sitting in the peace of the library, my phone in my hand, I've been staring down at the screen for hours. My mum's phone number is across the screen. I didn't think it would be this hard to call them, but here I am, freaking out about it because I've been a horrible daughter not caring about them. I don't know how much Brax has told them, and that makes it worse. Taking a deep breath, I press call. Every part of me is hoping that they don't answer and that I can just leave a message and put off talking to them for a few more days. But like always, my mum picks up on the third ring. "hello", her voice comes through the phone."Hi, Mum. It's Luna," I say, my voice shaky. I know it's been a while since we last talked, and I'm really sorry about that. I've just been so um..." I couldn't think of what to tell her. Every reason I came up with in my head just sounded so stupid. There's a moment of silence on the other end before my mom responds, "It's okay, Luna. We understand how busy you
After I'd showered and decided what to wear, which was harder than it sounded, I don't know why I was so worried about what to wear. Brax has never complained about anything that I wear. to think about it, he's never complained about anything when it comes to me. I slip into a simple black dress that hugs my curves in all the right places and pair it with some strappy heels. I take one last look in the mirror, fixing my hair and makeup before heading down to the kitchen. I want to look my best for him so he remembers why he fell for me in the first place. As I enter the empty kitchen, I see Brax standing by the stove, a glass of wine in hand as he looks over at me. The dim lighting casts a soft glow around him, making him look even more handsome than usual. He smiles warmly at me, his eyes full of love and desire."Wow, Luna. You look stunning," he says as he walks over to me, placing a gentle kiss on my lips before handing me a glass of wine. Thank you for agreeing to have dinner wi
I spent the night with Brax in his room, sneaking out before the sun was up. I don't know why, but I didn't like the idea of having to say goodbye to him, even though it was only for the weekend. Grabbing my bags, I headed downstairs, hoping that Nick was ready and waiting for me so we could hit the road. I'm never about going home. I know they will have a lot of questions for me that I don't want to answer. As I made my way to the living room, I saw Nick sitting on the couch, looking at his phone. He looked up and smiled when he saw me."Good morning, sleepyhead," he teased.I rolled my eyes and smirked. "are you ready to go?"he stood up, grabbing his bag off the floor as he did. "Is Brax not coming to say goodbye?""He's still sleeping. I didn't want to wake him. I know he's had a lot on." As the words left my mouth, I heard someone come into the room, turning around. I'm met by Brax."no matter what I have going on, you are the most important thing to me in this world or the next
Sitting at the table talking to Mum and Dad, my head started to feel fuzzy. I tried to ignore it, but the feeling was becoming worse by the second. "I... um ... just need to go lay down for a little bit," I tried to sound okay because I didn't want to worry them. i was probably just tired from the drive or something and needed to go and have a rest. "Are you okay, sweety?" Mum asked, her voice filled with concern as she stood up, making her way over to me. " I'm fine, probably just tired from the drive or something" The room was starting to spin as I held onto the table to hold myself up. I just kept telling myself in my head that I was fine and it would pass in a second, but the dizziness only intensified. Suddenly, everything went black, and I felt myself falling to the ground.I could hear Mum and Dad's panicked voices calling out to me as I struggled to stay conscious. I tried to fight it; I tried to tell them that I was okay, but no matter how hard I tried, nothing would come o
The sound of birds chirping and the wind blowing over took my ears; I slowly opened my eyes, noticing I was no longer in the hospital room filled with people and beeping machines. I was now at the lake where Brax had asked me to be his mate. I sat up, confused, looking around, trying to figure out what was going on. And then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw him. Spike. My heart leapt with joy at the sight of him. It had been so long since I had seen his face, felt his presence. But as he came closer, a wave of realization washed over me. Spike was dead. And if I was seeing him right now walking towards me, then maybe that meant I was too, and I don't think I'm ready to die yet. "Spike?" I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper. He smiled sadly at me, his eyes filled with understanding. "Hey, Princess."I reached out to touch him, but my hand passed right through him. He wasn't really there. This was all just a dream or a hallucination."You're not real," I said, tears welling
The tests were endless. Once I woke up, doctors came and went, but no one could give us any answers. Everything was coming back normal. Once they were done with the tests, Brax told me that they had given me vampire blood, which I didn't really know how to feel about, but what shocked me the most was that it was spike blood apparently when we came back here, Spike had told Brax that he wanted to have his blood stored for me so that if my life were ever in danger, the blood would be there to save me. My heart broke even more when Brax told me that he was always looking out for me and doing whatever he thought was best for me. I didn't tell Brax that I had seen Spike. I'm not sure why I didn't want to tell him; I think I wanted to keep mine and Spike's special moment to myself. After hours of convincing Brax to go home and get some rest, he finally left me. He wasn't happy about it, but he did as I asked. As much as I hate hospitals, it felt nice to be alone here. I know that Brax won
I tossed and turned all night, trying my hardest to get some sleep, but the rogue at the hospital kept running through my mind; I needed to know who he was. As soon as the sun started to come up, I got up and got ready to go. Coming out of my room, I was by a very tired-looking Dillion. " Good morning, Miss Luna," he said, standing up straight and trying to look like he hadn't been awake all night. "Morning, have you seen Brax?""Not since he left here last night, I think he's still down in his office. Would you like me to mind like him for you?" he said in a tired voice. I thanked Dillion and headed straight to Brax's office. I found Brax asleep on his desk. I stood there staring at him for a second, trying to work out whether or not I should wake him, but I decided against it and went to find Nick instead. I knew Nick had gotten back from his trip to see Kelly last night. I found Nick in the kitchen making himself a coffee. "good morning, Miss Luna, I'm so glad to see you are fee
"I don't fucking care if he said he's your brother, Luna; he can't be trusted," Brax's voice was filled with anger. He'd never spoken to me like this before, so it caught me off guard. "you know nothing about him. and there is nothing in all the books about your family that says anything about you having a brother".Anger started to grow inside of me. I hated the way he talked to me, treated me like a child, and tried to control me. "I have a connection with him, and I don't care what you say. If there is a chance that he is my brother, then I need to know."Braxs ran his hand throw his hair in frustration turning away from me. "use your fucking brain here, Luna. What if he is your new mate since you broke our bond" I could hear the sadness in his voice. I didn't need to see his face. To know that he was worried that he was going to lose me. Going over to him, I grabbed his hand, pulling him around to look at me. I could see the tears welling in his eyes. "Brax, listen to me," I said
