Chapter Forty Four

Rebecca exchanged a look with Evelyn, both of them struggling to process Victor's jarring transformation. While she was relieved he was alive and relatively unharmed, a part of her mourned the loss of the man she had fallen in love with. The vampire she had accepted and embraced, flaws and all.

"I...I don't understand," Victor said weakly, his eyes clouded with bewilderment. "The last thing I remember is being strapped to some chair while some doctors...experimented on me."
