"Yes, I'm serious. My boss is looking for a new secretary. Just prepare your CV and some supporting documents. I'll wait for you there. What do you think?" Sam continued.

Jolie did not know how to express her happiness right now. After walking for so long looking for a job, apparently good news came from an old friend. Indeed, sometimes God has his own way of rewarding the efforts of His servants.

"Of course. I'm very grateful to you, Sam. I can finally get a new, much better job. But, are you sure I'm fit to work in such a big company?" Jolie asked. Now she felt very happy. But on the other hand, doubts haunted her.

Jeverson Property Limited is the name of a company owned by a British conglomerate family. It was in the property business and controlled almost half of all property sales in the city and surrounding areas. Jolie had heard of them many times. Getting a job offer from such a big company was an honour. Jolie was not going to pass up this golden opportunity.

"There's no harm in trying. After all, I've seen you work. Your perseverance will definitely result in good work. My boss doesn't like to talk much. He likes hard workers like you. You might get lucky, who knows," Sam said, convincing Jolie to accept the offer as he himself didn't know where else to look for a good candidate for the position.

"Alright then. I will definitely come tomorrow morning. Oh, one more thing, what position will I be applying for?" asked Jolie.

"Secretary to the CEO. I work as one of the directors there. We could be good colleagues," Sam replied.

For the umpteenth time, Jolie was surprised. Secretary to the CEO? That was quite an important position. Jolie would be working with the top leader of the JPL company. It was like a dream come true. "Secretary to the CEO? Are you serious?" Jolie asked spontaneously.

"Yes, why not, it's in line with your goal. You used to dream of being a secretary in a big company. Well, you can realise it now."

Sam was right. Jolie had to get rid of all her doubts and nerves. She didn't want this opportunity to go to waste. So, she had to prepare everything thoroughly.

"Thank you so much for the offer, Sam."

"Of course, old friend. See you tomorrow." The phone call ended.

It was already ten o'clock at night. Jolie's body is already very tired. She feels the soreness in her legs from walking for so long. After talking to Sam she lay down on the sofa. Coki kept her company. Every now and then she wondered how tomorrow would be. Would everything go smoothly?

"What if I fail?"

Coki seemed to know what Jolie meant. The dog gently rubbed the girl's lips with his paw. Jolie knew Coki was telling her not to hesitate to go tomorrow. That made her a little calmer. Jolie's eyes closed and she was unconsciously fast asleep.

The day turned to morning. Jolie didn't have time to set an alarm to wake up early. When she woke up, the sun was already shining brightly. She glanced at the clock on the wall, it was already seven o'clock.

"Oh my, I'm going to be late."

Jolie quickly got up from the sofa and half ran to the bathroom. That startled Coki who was still asleep. Jolie hurriedly showered and changed clothes. Jolie was confused about what clothes she should wear. But not long ago she picked up a white shirt and a black knee-length slim fit skirt. Then after she changed her clothes, she baked two loaves of bread for breakfast. She also gave Coki some food.

"Your breakfast is in the bowl, Coki. If you don't eat it, you'll starve all day."

Coki barked loudly. He ran over to his breakfast bowl and ate everything in it. Meanwhile, Jolie was busy fix her hair. She simply clipped bobby pins on both sides of her head to keep her hair neat even though it was not tied up. She prefers her long hair loose, giving it a more feminine feel.

"I'm leaving for an important interview today. You take good care of yourself, Coki. I'll see you later."

Jolie hurriedly filed all the necessary documents and other paraphernalia needed for a job interview such as a notepad and pen. She then gave a quick goodbye to Coki. Then she left the apartment, locked the door, and walked down the stairs.

"Good morning, Jolie. Where are you going? You look lovely," greeted Rose, Jolie's neighbour. The old lady was busy watering her plants.

"Wish me good work today, Rose," Jolie replied briefly. She didn't have time to chat.

"Taxi!" Jolie hailed a taxi. She got in and told the driver, "Take me to JPL head office. If possible, I'm in a hurry."

"Yes, Miss."

Luckily, the journey that morning was not interrupted by anything. The roads were not too busy and there was no traffic at all. After a few minutes Jolie arrived in front of the head office of Jeverson Property Limited.

"Thank you, sir." Jolie paid the driver and hurriedly walked into the entrance of the building.

The place looked so grand, Jolie was stunned to see the vast interior of the building. She had never entered a company of this size before. After admiring the architecture, she walked up to the reception desk.

"Hello, excuse me. I have a job interview today. Am I late?" Jolie said.

"No, miss. You're just in time. You're Mr Jeverson's new secretary-to-be, aren't you?" the receptionist confirmed.

"That's right," replied Jolie embarrassed. No one knows what will happen next. This all still felt like a dream.

"I'll escort you, Miss. Please follow me."

"Okay."

The two of them walked towards the lift. But, before that they had to give way to a man and some of his aides to enter the lift first. Jolie caught a glimpse of the man's face.

"His face looks familiar to me. Where did I see that man?" Jolie muttered softly.
