Chapter 6

I was awoken by the rays of sunlight peeping through the window, I sat up confused, trying to decipher where I was as I was not familiar with the environment, and then it suddenly dawned on me that I was in Dylan's bedroom, or rather our bedroom. I moved my gaze to the other side of the bed and memories of yesterday flooded back at me; it was my wedding night, the night every girl looked forward to, the special night, but there I was, scared, unenthused and my alleged groom was nowhere to be found. I wondered where he could have spent the night; probably in a hotel with one of his women. I never imagined my wedding night would be like that, I always dreamt of having my wedding night in a seven-star hotel or a resort in one of their best luxury suites filled with roses and candles, but there I was, alone and married to a man I don't even like. I didn't realize the teardrop until I was interrupted by the sound of my phone buzzing with notifications. I picked up the phone and was greeted by tons of messages and notifications from the internet. I and Dylan's photos were all over the internet, our wedding was the trending hashtag on every social media, while some congratulated us, some kept sending hate comments, I saw some comments like "Golddigger, whore, she seduced him into marrying her, get a life cheap slut, with the hashtags #LeaveDylanAlone" the hate comments came from most of his female fans. "If only they knew," I thought out loudly.

I got tired of reading the comments and was about to go take my bath when Dylan suddenly barged into the room without knocking. My heart stopped beating for a second, I didn't know why but I felt anxious seeing him in the room.

"Good… mor..ning", I managed to say with my palms feeling sweaty.

He did not respond, instead, he began to stride towards me and I became more nervous, he finally stood in front of me with his hands in his pockets.

"look Lydia…" he said in a stern voice

"It's Lucinda" I corrected, interrupting him.

"I don't care," he replied more coldly.

"Now listen up, we might be married, but don't expect me to treat you like a wife, everything about this marriage is fake, don't expect any commitments from me, don't try getting closer to me, and most importantly don't you ever touch my things, I'll have the servants move some of my stuff in the closet to create space for you," he said in a demeaning tone.

"Are we clear?"

"Ye..ss" I stuttered, swallowing the lump in my throat.

"Knock! Knock!!"

We were interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Come in," Dylan said, ushering the person at the door in.

"Good morning Madam, Good morning sir" the maid greeted walking in.

"I was asked to inform the both of you to come down for breakfast," she said, bowing and walking out.

Next Dylan grabbed his jacket and walked out without saying a word.

I quickly freshened up, got dressed, and joined them downstairs.

"Lucinda darling, what took you so long?" Dylan's mum called, immediately I arrived at the dining area.

"I… I was.."

"It's okay darling, come sit, let's have breakfast together, it's time you meet the entire family," she said excitedly.

I scanned for a place to sit and the only vacant space was next to Dylan.

I took my seat and waited for the maids to serve me while scouring around with my eyes, and jeez, there were so many of them. I finally saw the other wife. She sat on the left side of Mr Chris Talen and Dylan's mum sat on his right.

"So how was your night?" Dylan's stepsister, Sophie, asked, smirking.

"uhh…. It was fine" I replied shyly.

"Yeah, tell us about it," Gustavo inquired, also smirking and looking at Dylan.

"And how's that supposed to be your business?" Dylan shot back at them.

" ohh! I heard that the dearest groom did not even sleep at home yesterday " Shirin, Dylan's stepsister, said sarcastically, causing Dylan to get more furious than he was.

"Hold your horses brother, we just want to know what your wife tastes like," he said, chuckling.

"I am not your brother, you bastard" he shot back angrily.

"How dare you call my son a bastard? You fool," Veronica, Gustavo's mum yelled back at Dylan.

"and how dare you yell at my son?" Dylan's mum said harshly.

"Hold it, right there women, " Chris said, interrupting the women that were about to exchange words with each other.

They all took their seats, glaring daggers at each other.

I sat there still feeling a bit awkward about the whole drama that just unfolded a little while ago.

When the media said, the Talen family were always at war with each other, I never understood, but I think, now I just did

"Lucinda darling, I apologize you had to experience this on your first day with us, but what do you expect when you live with rascals?" Dylan's Mum said glaring at Veronica and her children.

"uhm.. It's fine Ma"

I replied, not knowing what else to say to her.

" I apologize on behalf of my siblings, don't mind them" Hannah, Dylan's step-sister who has been quiet the whole time, said looking at me pitifully.

"Shut up, Hannah, no one asked for your opinion, " Sophie said, interrupting her.

"I said that's enough," Mr Talen said, interrupting her.

And we continued to eat in silence.

"By the way Lucinda" Dylan's mum said after the long silence and I lifted my head to look at her.

I and my husband have had you both enrolled in a marriage class to take some marriage lessons which will enable the both of you to create a good relationship since you both got married unprepared".

I almost spat the food in my mouth on hearing that.

"What the hell Mum?" Dylan said scoffing.

"It's going to help you both build a…"

"I don't need it" he blurted out before she could finish.

"Listen to your Mum Dylan and do as she says," Mr Talen said in a commanding voice.

"I'm done here," he said scoffing, standing up and walking out of the dining area.

I got to the room and was glad breakfast finally ended. I couldn't stand the Talen family, at home breakfast was always quiet and mundane but here it was the opposite, my thoughts were interrupted when my phone began to ring.

I checked the caller, and immediately my countenance fell.
