“Hey,” I tried to hide the raspiness in my voice from crying when I answered Xander's call.
“Hey, how are you?” His voice was so deep and smooth that my insides were already melting.
“I’m good, thanks, and you?”
“Better now,” he paused, “I hope you weren’t upset that I sent you flowers.”
“You sent…” Dez was dead, “hey can you hang on just a second?” I muted it the second he said yes and stormed into the other room, I know Dez didn’t approve, and this was something he would do.
“Seriously?” I was leaning forwards with a hand on my hip as Dez was suddenly walking up the stairs.
I went inside and tried to calm down before I called Savannah. I sent her some pics of the floral arrangement and gushed with her a bit over it before talking about random things to get my mind off all the Dez drama this morning. She told me about a few houses her and Mike had found, asked my opinion on some layout issues, but overall she hadn’t loved any of the houses, so she was still in the air. I offered to come over on Christmas Eve to help her with anything she needed for the party, but she just wanted people to show up and enjoy it. I asked her if Connor was coming, and she thought he would, but she was surprised by his reactions when I told her about my run-in with him.If Dez came home that night, I didn’t hear him, and he was gone before I woke up. This was the first time he was actively avoiding me and it hurt, all I wanted wa
The pain in my chest was mounting, it felt like the night we found out that dad died like my chest stopped moving on its own, trying to convince itself that if it didn’t breathe, it couldn’t feel pain, but when I took the next breath, all the pain that had mounted would flood in and spread through my whole body.I could hear a clicking sound behind me, right before a small voice called out for me to wait. When I turned around, Lilly was trying to catch up to me, and when she got close she wrapped a coat around me and helped me walk, asking me where the house was but we didn’t have far to go. She helped me inside and down to my room, putting a bottle of water by the bed as she sat on the edge of it and stroked the hair out of my face before she ran her hands up and down my back lightly.
It only took about an hour to get to the town he said he lived in, it was small but extravagant. All of the houses were spaced amongst the thick tree line, and they looked like a mixture of old homes that had been taken care of throughout the years and new builds. Even the older houses with character were all two stories and large enough to hold five or more bedrooms. He told me his family came from money, but his house was truly a sight to see. The kind with a huge gate that led down a long tree lined path and ended with a massive driveway that sat in front of the house. His house was easily four of the other ones I had seen put together, and judging by the windows, five stories. Xander got out and opened my door, holding out his arm for me to
"Come in," I whispered, anxious to see his face, but I was unprepared for the rest. "Can't sleep?" He stood there with a slight twist going on in his hair, shirtless with a pair of pyjama bottoms that it looked like he threw on for my benefit because they didn't look like something he would normally choose. His muscles were huge, his chest so defined that it was hard not to follow their lines down to where his pants hung, making my chest flutter and my head feel like it was weightless. I was barely able to shake my head no before he walked over to the side of the bed and looked down at me. "Let me help," his voice was the perfect amount of rough as he slid into the bed, layi
The room across from ours wasn't a bedroom. It had a few couches and a fireplace in it and looked like an office that was turned into some kind of intimate visiting space. He led me over to the couch and sat on one that was across from me. There was a small table in between us that was set up with water already. Was he going to tell me that he's crazy? Split personalities? He was being so sketchy and I was starting to think I should have just stuck to my guns and went home. "Before we talk, can I ask you a favour?" I asked and he just nodded to my question, "Can you charge my phone please, it was dead this morning and I'm sure Dez will want to get a hold of me," I handed him my phone and he left for a second and came back with a charger, plugging it
“That story I told you in bed,” Wyatt sounded like he was rumbling or something out of nowhere, but Xander continued, “wasn’t just a story. The Moon Goddess has blessed us with you Brianna, it’s common for identical multiples to have the same mate.” I held up my hand, and then I started to laugh. An uncontrollable laugh that was formed from utter discomfort and disbelief that I was now in a room with not one but two giant men who were clearly crazy. Did he honestly just say that so nonchalantly? Like I was supposed to be happy that he thinks I’m his next level soulmate, never mind just passing by the fact that it also implied he thought they were werewolves, like such a thing exists in real life, AND that I’m not just his soulmate, but his brother’s. “Is she laughing at us?” Wyatt’s face snarled and it hal
I tried to remember what my wolf said to me and they just stared at me to clarify, “She told me to stop something once, and-” “Stop what?” Wyatt's voice interrupted a bit rougher than before and looking agitated as he cocked his head to the side. “I don’t remember,” I lied, I wasn’t about to tell them about Connor, “and when you called me on my birthday,” I smiled, “she said mine.” “Ugh Sugar, please,” Wyatt stood up, “can I please hold you, Xander’s had so much time with you,” he practically whined. “Because you’re like this,” Xander cut in, “you can’t keep your hands off of her, look at when you tracked her down at Pulse.” “Tha
“I… I don’t, um,” I pulled myself back from Wyatt a bit and looked at Xander.“See,” he smirked at Wyatt, “she wants to kiss me first." My face felt like it was on fire, these two were more overwhelming than the fact that I had a wolf inside of me.“I didn’t-” I started but Wyatt cut me off.“That’s fine,” he kissed my shoulder, “I’ll take a different first,” he winked at me and Xander stiffened. I couldn’t even wrap my head around dating multiple men at the same time, never mind being intimate with them and how all of that would work.“We need to get out of this room,” I said, jumping up fr
